It is once again my pleasure to invite you to the annual Rebels of the West Bull and Female Sale. Since the very first sale, these folks have strived to improve the quality of the animals on offer while maintaining an acceptable level of customer service. We at Bouchard Livestock have worked tirelessly with all three of those seed stock operations to assist them in raising the quality of the product on offer.

Each operation has invested considerable finances to acquire the highest level of walking herd bulls possible. Bulls that certainly have risen to the top, not only in their operation but for others as well, through the Genetics to Make a Difference semen program. In addition to these walking herd bulls they have utilized some of the very elite AI sires in the industry today. They all have used embryo transfer to produce elite embryos to compliment their programs.The open heifers on offer will be from proven cow families on the front end of each of these programs.

Both Gary and I will be in the sale barn the day before the sale and available to help you, the perspective buyer. Bull Development & Delivery

Consignors will keep the bulls free of charge until May 15, 2012. Bull buyers need to insure the bulls while cared for by the consignor.

Delivery Option A Bulls can be picked up on sale day and a $50 discount will be deducted from purchase price.

Delivery Option B At the buyer’s option and risk, the bull can return to the consignor’s farm and delivered anywhere in Western Canada at no charge to central locations. We will do our utmost to deliver them right to your yard.

Delivery Option C Bulls can return to the farm and be picked up any time at the buyer’s convenience.

Sight-Unseen Purchase Program

If you are unable to attend the sale but are interested in bulls, give the consignors a call and they will personally go over the bulls and your program to recommend the bulls or females that would meet your needs and refer you to one of the sales staff who will represent your needs in a professional and confidential manner.

EPD Explanation

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPDs incorporate the individual animal with its ancestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual-based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally above 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously as one of several selection tools.

All bulls are guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders in accordance with CSA and CAA guidelines. Should a problem occur barring injury or mismanagement, a bull of equal value will be provided or a credit will be issued towards the purchase of another bull. We guarantee you will have a bull to service your cows.

Once again we are happy to have TSN Livestock and Roenda Stock Farms involved to bring you a group of top quality Red and Black Simmental bulls and females as well as a group of Black Angus bulls. Our section is made up of some of the best herdsires we have brought to town.

We are going to lead off our section with a group of Wheatland Headline sons. A real uniform group that has great hair and these boys are thick. Following them is a group of Wheatland Red Teddy sons as well as young herdsires out of our flush program. Some real interesting pedigrees here as well as some of our best bulls. We are excited about the Cruzer bulls (a full brother to Wheatland Stout - Grand Champion bull at Agribition 2 years running). They are our youngest bulls in the sale but are not lacking performance or pedigree. Next will be a group of Wheatland Red Ace sons that always have lots of friends sale day. Ending the bull section will be a couple of Drifter sons.

As always we are bringing a small group of open females to the sale. We are offering 2 choice lots that will turn heads on sale day. Take a close look at these two lots. They are definitely off the top of the open heifer pen. There will also be a group of hybrid heifers that are Red Teddy x purebred Angus cows. We are also offering the opportunity to flush one or two of our flush cows. Both have been well represented in the sale.

A bull calf that really stood out on pasture this summer and he just kept on going.

Starting off with a super disposition that is combined with extra length and his depth of body, Stride has herdsire written all over him. A Headline son out of a Full Figures cow. We have several Full Figures females in the herd and they are super producers in a moderate frame. Looking for a bull that has a strong cow family? Looking for a red bull with pedigree and performance? Well get Redline moving around in the pen. Born on the last day of February makes him another younster in the sale but see how he compares with his older pen mates. He is deep sided and wide over the top. Take a look at this guy in the pen and you find yourself walking back to him several times. He is thick with a ton of middle. He moves out free and easy and carries his size well. At Agribition in 2010 we sold choice on 2 bred 21N x On Target heifers. Both were bred to Wheatland 786T. Remington’s picked the black bred and we kept the red one.

I would like to start by thanking all of those that have bought, bid or enquired about the genetics offered in the past! This will be my second year bringing bulls to the Rebels sale and first to bring some females.

2011 was a challenging year for most of the country. Mother Nature really showed every corner of the country just how powerful she can be. Throughout this adversity it was very uplifting to see the optimism that was present at every show and sale I managed to attend this past fall. The cattle business truly has a strong future and even stronger people. To top it off, 2012 has started with some of the strongest commercial prices ever seen. Now is the time to invest in genetics to take your programs to the next level.

My offering will once again consist of sons of MRL Red Force 12U, my main walking herd bull, with a few select AI sired calves, as well as two Red Force daughters.

A MR NLC Superior son out of the high selling open heifer calf from the 07 Shades sale.

I am more and more impressed with this calf as the days go by - super deep, great footed and moderate! A bull that we are very excited about. His dam came from TSN and is out of Tyson’s 600 Plus flush cow, a full sister is a donor cow for MRL. This shows you the consistency of this cow family. We currently have two daughters in production from 50T and we could not be happier with them. 50T is the granddam of our feature Red Force son LWC/Roenda’s Full Tilt 15Y. Once again, another Superior son. This time out of a Dynamite female. Can you get a better cross? A real performance bull here, and if you want to raise those blaze faced black cattle, here is the bull to do it! We sampled Superior as he was toughted as a frame reducer, but a bull that could keep the weights up. Just what we were looking for, and boy has he made us happy with these two future herd bulls. A bull we so much potential. Looking for a heifer bull that has the pedigree to walk the talk? Here he is. 75lb birth weight, solid red with a phenomenal first calf Red Teddy daughter as a mother. His dam is the first calf off of our future donor cow 50T. With a perfect temperament on both sides of the family and an interesting blend of red and black genetics, this bull has a bit of outcross for the Canadian industry. Tracing back to both Shear Force and Fortune 500, he should carry some potent carcass genetics. A bull I would like to use in my own program, retaining 1/3 semen interest.

A stand up and take notice kind of bull, extremely thick and low set. A bull that will go out and calve well and raise attractive heavy muscled calves.

He’s a half Fleck, half Red bull. A combination that I am extremely pleased with. The Red cattle compliment the traditional Simmentals so well, it’s almost a cross-breed in a way. All of the red bulls with Fleck mothers are out of cows with a strong color pattern. One of Dad’s favorites here.

Their granddams are some of my first purebreds and largest cow family. 6Y has a bit more frame and growth than his brother and a darker hair coat but that’s where the differences end. It pains me to sell this heifer because I know she is going to go out and raise the right kind of cattle for her new owner. She catches your eye every time you walk in the pen. Wow, what an awesome job this heifer’s mother did her first time out of the gate. Fancy and bred for a ncie blend of Red and Fleck genetics. It should be no surprise that she turned out liek this.
