We have just toured through all the bulls in this sale and we were very impressed by the deep quality throughout the entire offering. These breeders are integrity driven and only are putting forth the bulls that they have the utmost confidence in that can positively move your programs forward.

RKT Simmentals, the Taylor family have an outstanding offering on hand and the 32 future herd sires on offer are deep in quality.

Stacked genetics such as Amber Jack, Beast Mode, High Society, Captain Black, Driver, Copperhead, Monopoly among other select AI bulls have elevated their program. Overall muscle shape, dimension, hair, body and simmental power is evident with also strong contingent of calving ease options. The Woychyshyn families have progressively sourced many of the leading AI bulls to utilize and their progeny will be in high demand. The walking bulls there are the true heroes with an awesome set of performance oriented sons from the Centerfire bull who doesn’t miss and on the calving ease side, Mountain 37C has become an important factor in their programs. We are excited to be starting this new sale with the Woychyshyn’s, John Gillan and Jim Ranson. These long time breeders share our goal to provide quality bulls to the commercial cattleman. This year our bull pen is full of just that, quality. I don’t say this every year but I really do believe that this is the strongest set of bulls that we have produced. There is also a wide range of bulls to fit different customers needs. Whether you need really easy calving bulls or are looking for higher performance we have plenty of both in red or black. We have a lot of the same sire groups as in the past such as Beastmode and Monopoly. Sons of these bulls have been well received by purebred and commercial breeders and have been successful wherever they have gone. A new sire group this year is the LFE Amberjack 385E sons. We had six Amberjack bulls born last year and they all have risen to the top of the pen. We also look forward to working with Bohrson Marketing Services as management for the sale. If you need someone to look at the bulls on your behalf or bid for you on sale day you will be happy with the job that they do. If you have a chance to stop in at the farm to check out the bulls please do so. We enjoy visiting with our customers and making sure that you end up with a bull that suits your needs. RKT SIMMENTALS OFFERS FREE DELIVERY: We will deliver your bull to you for free to anywhere in Manitoba and to central points in Saskatchewan and Alberta. All other provinces/ states will be at cost. Delivery will be as close to the date you request your bull but will be at our convenience. If you can not take your bull when we are in your area, we would appreciate if you made arrangements to pick up your bull.

FREE BOARD: We can bring your bull home and will keep him free of charge until June 15th. Bulls must be delivered or picked up by this date. We will do our best to look after your bull while at RKT. We do recommend that you insure your purchase as he becomes property of the buyer at the time of sale. Insurance will be available at the sale.

FOOTROT VACCINATION: All RKT bulls will receive their initial shot of Fusogard vaccine for footrot in early March, prior to the sale. Bulls returning to RKT will receive their booster shot in early April.

IN HERD SEMEN USE: RKT Simmentals reserves the right to draw semen on any of the bulls in our offering for in herd use.

NOTE FROM ERIC VAN MEIJL: I have had the pleasure of dealing with RKT Simmentals for a number of years and continue to be impressed with the calibre of bulls they bring to town each year. These bulls are developed on a steam rolled ration that is designed to properly develop soundness and structure therefore they’re able to get into the pastures and work. Not to mention, you will still be left with a recognizable bull when you decide to pull him from the cows after your breeding season. The ration consists of a high amount of rolled oats along with 10% rolled corn grain and protein supplement. The result is a ration that is lower in starch, high in protein with a balanced mineral pack that contains organic minerals all to ensure healthy growth, a developed frame, assist with testicular development / semen quality, and overall health. RKT SIMMENTALS Lot 1: We are excited and proud to offer 32G for sale. We feel that he will make the cattle better wherever he goes. From behind he is wide and square. He is deep bodied, soft sided and has excellent feet. 32G’s dam is eleven years old and has earned more dollars worth of bulls than any cow we have owned. She raised the Premium Beef Bull sale high selling bull as a two year old. She also raised the $27,000 RKTS Prairie Storm 1B bull that went to Westgold Farms in 2015. 28W will be flushed to add more of her influence into our herd in the near future. We also look forward to using 32G heavily in our A.I. program over the next few years.

Lot 2: One of the best red bulls that we have ever raised. He has length, depth, width and butt end. He also has a touch of style that comes from his granddam 1P. 1P has more descendants in our herd than any other cow. Simply put, if they have 1P in their background they will probably make a good cow. We have come to expect a top calf every year from 34B. The thickness that she and the rest of the Driver daughters in our herd put into their calves is easily noticed. When you combine that with Amberjack you get something pretty special like 12G. Homo Polled.

RKT SIMMENTALS Lot 3: Dark, almost purple red and extremely good is the best way to describe 46G. Like the rest of the Amberjack sons he is very heavy muscled and very sound. I don’t remember using a bull that infused thickness into his calves the way that Amberjack has for us. 46G is nice headed, has great feet and legs and good testicles. His dam, 29C, is long and thick with a nice tidy udder.

His granddam, 3Z, has a very good Beastmode bull in this years sale as well. 46G will have many admirers come sale day. Homo Polled.

Lot 5: Here is a black Amberjack son that will earn a check mark in most cattlemens catalogues. The muscle and thickness is what you will see first when you look at this sire group but they have much more than that. They are sound made, free moving and all have excellent dispositions. This guys dam is probably Dam of lot 5 the best cow in the “D” age group. She raised a top bull for us last year as well. She is huge ribbed, beautifully fronted and has prefect feet. She has a near perfect udder as well. 42G is a top herd bull prospect that you won’t want to miss.

Lot 6: 14G is a true beef bull. His deep, wide butt end carries forward into a huge topline. These Amberjack sons are as thick as any bulls you will find. His dam, 29B, is hands down the quietest cow on the farm and I think maybe the most impressive. She is the only cow that we own that con not physically go through our chute system. She is simply too wide. Thickness is bred into 14G from both sides so there is little doubt of what kind of calves he is going to leave behind.

RKT SIMMENTALS Lot 7: This big masculine bull has been one of our favorites all winter.

He was the heaviest bull in late December, just shy of 1400 lbs.

Performance isn’t the only thing going for him though. He has a moderate 92lb birth weight and is extremely quiet. 29G’s EPD’s are all above average. His dam, is one of our best young cows. She had a Captain Black son in our sale last year and her first calf was a blazed faced Monopoly daughter that is one of the best cows in the “E” age group. Homo Polled. Homo Black.

Lot 8: We have kept a close eye on this meat machine since he was born. We anticipated that 52G would be near the top of the pen and we weren’t wrong.

His full brother sold in last years sale and had a lot of admirers.

The year before that a Monopoly half brother was our high selling black bull. Their dam, 27C, is built like a grain truck and passes that thickness onto her sons. His sire, Beastmode has exceeded our expectations. The first four bulls in the ring at last years Premium Beef Bull sale were all Beastmode sons and they set the tone for the sale. Don’t let a good one like 52G pass you by. Homo Polled. Hetero Black .

Lot 9: Here is a high performance Beastmode son like most of them are. 59G is very deep bodied, long and has been one of our heavier bulls all along. His Black Bear dam is a beautiful cow with perfect feet. She is tanky while still looking feminine.

We have three daughters in our herd and two of them also have bulls in the sale. 46G, an Amberjack son and 30G, a Monopoly are grandsons of 3Z. This cow family can really knock out good ones. Homo Polled. Homo Black.

Lot 10: The two High Society sons are going to be very impressive herd bulls like their sire. We purchased High Society from Scott Clements after seeing the impressive job that the bull did there. 65G will have very good feet like his sire and dam. His stride is effortless and he has a thick haircoat. On boxing day 65G weighed 1300 lbs which I think is impressive considering that he wasn’t born until February.

Take a good look at 65G’s sire. Who wouldn’t want to have more herd bulls like him roaming their pastures?

Lot 11: The red High Society son in the pen ranks right at the top in my opinion. He is big, powerful, deep bodied and dark red. 79G’s dam is a good Beefmaker cow with a blazed face. She has a good udder and feet. She goes back to 159S, a Bodybuilder daughter that was always one of our favorites Dam of lot 11 around here. Even with limited numbers, I can’t say enough about how happy we are with the High Society calves. We can’t wait to have more of them and get his daughters into production.

Crosby daughters have risen to the top of many herds and are often behind some of the good cattle I see in sales today.

Lot 12: Here is one of the heavy weights in the pen. The Captain Black sons have always grown well for us while still being moderate at birth. 22G’s dam was dry the year prior to having him which explains his elevated birth weight. Don’t be turned away, I would put 22G up against most of our offering in the calving ease department. His EPD’s would suggest that he will calve well on cows and sire a calf that is actually worth something at the end of the day. Homo Polled. Homo Black.

Lot 13: 31G is out of one of the best cows that we own. Last year she raised our high selling bull going to KSL Simmentals.

Looking back at last years catalogue I talked about how youthful 3W is but I’m not so sure that this year, at 11 years old, she doesn’t look even better! Her dam, 1P, was here until she Dam of lot 13 was 15 years old and is the trunk to the largest cow family on the ranch. Rarely does a cow not work out when they trace back to 1P. I would suggest 31G to anyone wanting to add calving ease, longevity and doability to their herd. Homo Polled. Homo Black.

Lot 15: I like 66G quite a bit. He is good footed, sound structured and stylish. Being sired by Driver means that his thickness is no accident. His dam, 4D, is one of the quietest cows on the farm. She milks heavy and raised a top Bounty Hunter heifer last year. 66G’s grandmother, 5B, raised a top Beastmode bull last year the to lead off the Premium Beef sale. Lot 16: Another deep bodied, soggy made Driver son that weighs up. He is a ¾ brother to 16G and again out of a powerful Enticer cow. The “2X/365U” cow family is one of the most bountiful on the ranch. They always calve out easily and possess good udders. Like 16G, his weaning and yearling Dam of lot 16 EPD’s are very strong. These aren’t just numbers on a paper.

Lot 17: Here is a powerful, hairy Driver son out of one of the biggest black cows that we have. She can raise bulls! She sent two white faced Apollo sons to the sale ring in the past. A full brother to 16G was one of the top bulls last year until he was injured. Check out his weaning and yearling EPD’s. They are right at the top of the breed. Lot 18: Here is a dark red Copperhead son that has been one of my favorites since summer. He has tons of hair, is free moving and is deep bodied. His dam, 4B, is a big powerful Broker daughter that has been a very good producer. Our Broker females have turned out to be some of the best in our herd. Lot 19: 80G is a very easy keeper sired by Copperhead. His dam is a top cow. She came out of a commercial herd that we custom fed for a few years. She was a standout calf so we bought her and she ended up being a great addition. 80G is the only bull we ever kept off of her but there are a few daughters in our herd now. 80G is dog quiet and had just a 92lb birthweight.

This will be one of the last “Baron” sons to sell as his sire eventually outgrew the heifer pen. For four years he would work here then over to our neighbor Bruce Curles to breed his May calving heifers.

If you’re looking for predictable calving ease with some maternal upside take a good look at these two brothers. Their sire has over 400 progeny registered on the Canadian Simmental Association website and still ranks in the top 10% of the breed for calving ease.

Many of those 400+ animals would have been born from first calf heifers which proves how predictable he is during calving season.

9G will sire calves with some shape and good performance as well.

Lot 28: Here is a bull that I like quite a bit. He has lots of butt end, hip and thickness. His small head, neck extension and tidy front end make me believe he will sire some tremendous replacement heifers.

He stems from the 365U cow family which is one of the most prolific on our farm. They’re fertile females that calve out easily and maintain themselves. He had a moderate birthweight and is above average in almost all of the EPD categories.

Lot 44: A black 139C calf, a little later born than the rest but ploughed right along with his pen mates when it came to pushing on the scale. Lot 48: If you look back in the footnotes of the CSV 51G bull I talked about an impressive cow family backing this brother from another mother. This guy is clean made, long as a freight train and filled with ample thickness. This cow has been a no miss; producing either bulls we have marketed for breeding or sale females with a few retained for our own herd. The mother cow milks unbelievably and is as long & deep of a cow as you’ll find anywhere.

Most times it’s hard to find calving ease with a nice mix of performance but this guy has it. A black herdsire going back to Mountain, something a lil different. Top 10% CE 11.1, Top 10% BW 0.8 & an ADJ YW 1509!

RANCHER’S SELECT TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS:

The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, and wire transfers, payable at par at the sale location unless satisfactory payment arrangements have been made prior to the sale with seller, buyer and Bohrson Marketing Services.

Bohrson Marketing Services reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Payment in full must be made before cattle can be released and shipped. Exchange rates will be announced sale day and the sale will be held in Canadian funds.

All sale animals have met all necessary health requirements and it is the buyer’s responsibility and expense to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Bohrson Marketing Services assume no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

PURCHASER’S RISK:

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

BIDDING:

All animals to sell through the sale must be sold by auction with each animal selling to the highest bidder. Private sales will not be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

DISPUTES:

In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid and the auctioneer’s decision will be final.

DELIVERY OPTIONS:

$50 off the purchase price of each bull taken home sale day. Bulls can be taken back to the sellers and boarded free of charge until May 1st. After that a $3/day charge will apply. All bulls returning to the farms must be insured.

Free delivery up to 200km.

INSURANCE:

We strongly recommend the buyer insures for full value on all purchases.
