2020 proved to be a challenging year for many but hasn’t slowed us down at R Plus. We are proud to be back for our 21st year and to still be the brand of consistency and confidence. This year’s offering is solid from top to bottom and we are confident that they will add value to your program. Since 1992 and more since 2000 we have been able to influence and adapt our cow herd of 550 through the use of carcass data, intense genetic research, EPD profiles and visual appraisal to create a balanced animal which is exemplary to the industry. We strongly believe that our customers are number one at R Plus. Our goal through new genetics, strength and positioning is that we develop animals that will produce profit for you and your operation. Welcome to the 2021 edition of R-Plus Simmental Bull Sale, Sunday March 7 at the farm, Estevan, Saskatchewan. In past decades, R Plus have been suppliers of high-quality Simmental sires and have been a main herd bull source for the Simmental breed. The strength of the program is based on a powerful, predictable cowherd where “not one cow, but many” have contributed to the production of great breeder bulls. The 2021 lineup is the strongest, most uniform group ever offered. Ideal in optimal frame size, filled with performance, hair, testicle and muscle, carrying bred-in calving ease and high maternal values. Selected from a base of over five hundred and fifty breeding females and run by a small labour pool, these bulls are bred to be efficient, problem free and profit earning for their new homes. The cow herd is run on hard native grass in a ranch style setting therefore soundness and natural performance growth is basic in the R Plus program.

As you go through the sixty-five yearlings, you will find many exciting opportunities to acquire your next sire or sires, red or black. They combine quality and predictable trait leading numbers for performance and carcass values. The thirty-four red and black coming twos are saved and programed for this sale. They are younger born, will cover more cows and are suitable for all types of terrain. Their female opportunity is always totally unique as R Plus rarely sells females. Consider the opportunity to acquire a donor female and your next herd bull… all in one bid! The bulls were weaned by September 20, coming off native grass pastures with no creep. Bulls are on a chelated mineral, full vaccination and health program. Their development begins with a TMR ration of ground hay, corn based pellets and water. Mid November corn sileage is introduced into the ration and the bulls remain on this total balanced ration until delivery to your ranch. The TMR (total mixed ration) means that every bite the bull takes is the same as the last, ensuring no overloading as other feeding programs may allow. The bulls are not creep fed nor full fed, they are developed.

The breeding of Simmental cattle has been a passion and dream of ours since the 70’s. We made a move in 1991 to change our Simmental cattle into a moderate framed animal that survived well in our climate. The solid colored red and black cattle fit the bill: the performance and fertility of the Simmental cattle could not be compromised, so we began looking for genetics that would support our beliefs. Present day, our beliefs haven’t changed and we believe the cattle back this up. We are raising cattle that survive and breed in short native grass pastures, with hay being their main ration; cattle that have fertility bred into them, as most of our bulls will be under a year of age at sale time and will have passed a fertility test and scrotal measurement that in the past has averaged around 38 cm. Hair coats are very important to us. Straight heavy haired cattle tend to be easier doing, happier cattle at R Plus. As we live in a short grass area, we have to have cows with large spring of rib. We believe that the rib eye measurement indicates this to us. Structure and conformation have to be closely monitored in our program as a large area of pastures are located in heavy rock conditions. Our cattle must have the ability to walk in these conditions. As our operation is usually a two man show, the cow’s ability to have a calf, that calf’s vigor and the mothering ability of the cow are all things that are very important to us. We do not believe that overfeeding bulls and females is necessary. Longevity is something that is needed in all cattle and overfeeding only helps to shorten their life span and affects their fertility. Our rations are developed to grow and allow cattle to mature at an optimal rate without causing any complications to that animal. We have bred Simmental Cattle for over four decades, solid red and black colored cattle for over three decades. The multi generation of the red and black genetics will make your calf crop predictable in color. By using these solid colored genetics we have eliminated sunburnt udders, weak eyed cattle and created a trouble free animal.

As our cow numbers increased and facilities wouldn’t allow us to calve them all in a shortened season, we made the decision to keep a set of later born bulls. By adding the two-year-old program we allow our younger calves to grow and mature to their genetic potential and be offered as a long age bull. This is an exclusive program at R Plus. These bulls are selected as calves and remain on the ranch until their second year, they are not culls nor have they been passed or previously marketed.

Terms and Conditions TERMS
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.
BIDDING
Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.
LIABILITIES
All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.
RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.
The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
EXCEPTION GUARANTEE
Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
DELIVERY
We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
INSURANCE
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION
ERRORS
Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Simmental Association, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value. All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.
PEDIGREE ESTIMATES
Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
