2021 has certainly tested the strength and determination of our Ag community. While we dealt with the confusing and frustrating pandemic, mother nature let us know who has the power. But after this hot, dry summer there have been some refreshing rains that have given areas of western Canada some time for fall grazing and taken a tiny bit of stress off of a feed shortage. I hope everyone that is reading this has gathered enough feed for the coming winter and that you are able to maintain the core of your breeding herd. It is with pride that we identify as members of the Pembina Triangle Simmental Association. We support each other in our efforts to maintain this long standing sale and we work as a group with a common goal to make each sale consecutively better and better. We look forward to gathering as a group each year, not just consignors but with the cattle community that attends the sale. It’s a great social atmosphere. Sales Management Comments We have had the privilege of managing the Pembina Triangle Simmental Sale for several years now and I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank them for their loyalty to us, not just on this occasion, but we also market many of the bulls for the respective members which fits perfectly into our full management business model or in essence, working for them marketing their programs at a “365” level. We are very proud to have been part of the upgrade that the PTSA undertook several years ago and the commitment level the majority of the members have made to exclusively sell their top end heifers in this sale, and this sale only! That’s simple “marketing 101” and if you analyze most successful breeders, this is the scenario they implement. We always encourage buyers who may choose to bid online, to call on us for a free appraisal of the cattle the day prior, or morning of, the sale (please allow some lead time!). This simply takes the risk out of “shooting in the dark purchasing” and is a win/win for both buyer and seller’s satisfactions. We particularly encourage this for this sale as historically the connection values are weak in this location and the potential to not process your bid while the live auction is happening is a reality. And of course, we can just handle your bidding requirements in your absence via phone or a confidentially agreed upon budget, that will only be used as needed. We only spend what’s necessary to own them and quite often, we are able to make purchases under your maximum bid! Year after year, we see an increase in the quality of the PTSA consignments, but we also consistently see “bang for your $$$”, when the dust settles after the fall run near Christmas. Welcome to the 41st Pembina Triangle Sale. What a year it has been! We are grateful that we have been able to find enough feed for the winter and that we have had some late-season rains that have allowed us to do some fall grazing. Here’s to hoping for some big winter snow falls to replenish the much-needed ground water. The heifers we have to offer this year are a sample of everything we are working towards. We opened up the pen for Darren to select and we feel he picked a solid group that represent our herd well. JNR Cashmere Oakview Heroine is a pen favorite. She is bred very similar to Oakview Hazel (Lot 2), but yet unique in many ways. These heifers are both Cashmere daughters with Heroine being from the Sadie/Pixie cow line which needs no introduction. A flush mate to Heroine’s dam sold to Mark Land and Cattle Co as the 2017 high selling bred heifer out of this very sale. As I watch this heifer develop, I admire the thickness and style she possesses. Heroine is soggy made yet still boasts a clean front and feminine look with a beautiful, smooth polled head. She is one of the most complete and balanced heifers in the group. She is one that no doubt will lay down a beautiful udder and work hard to produce you highly marketable calves.

Here is a female that will mature into a big, broody cow. Oakview Dixie 21D is a young cow that has already won a spot in our hearts. She is highly pigmented, easy fleshing and milks hard. After flushing we moved her into our fall program and she just had a whopper of a bull calf. Hazel goes back to the Pixie cow family which have been no-fail female and bull makers for us. Buy with confidence, this is a heifer that will mature into a front pasture cow. She is mated to Oakview Hank, a yearling bull that we pulled out of our bull pen at weaning time as a keeper! We have always admired his Metro x Houston dam’s picture-perfect udder and look forward to injecting that trait back into his calves. Hank is sired by Blushrose Rocket who calved easy and left us with heavily pigmented, polled progeny.

Well the kids are back to school and I am truly missing all the work they did while they were “remote learning”. We really did appreciate the extra time we shared with them and did a bit more hands on farming day to day as a family. But now we are back to school, volleyball, and hockey. EMBRYO & SEMEN – Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties. Any legal action that may be taken, in exceptional cases, must be between buyer and seller.
