Consignors

The heart of our consignor group is based upon raising cattle that will perform in a multitude of versatile cattle herds throughout North America. The bulls on offer come from herds located in British Columbia and Alberta where the main focus is providing genetic progression by utilizing some of the best genetics that are on the market. The name of our sale comes from the fact that our bulls are raised and mostly sold on the prairies of Canada. The Prairie Lands consignor group is made of many well-established breeders some of whom have had decades of experience selling cattle and younger breeders who are well on their way to becoming big name breeders.

Reflecting upon the last year, there is no doubt that this past year has been one of the most difficult; but as they say, tough times don’t last, tough people do. Farmers have always been resilient, and we have not wavered as our goal has always stayed the same; raising good cattle that will have a positive impact in our customer’s herd.

We are a group of good people, selling great cattle to even greater customers. $100 cash if your bull is taken home sale day.

All bulls are backed by the seller and guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders as per the CSA Bylaws.

All bulls 12 months of age will be semen tested, palpated and scrotal measurement taken by an accredited veterinarian.

Information will be available sale day.

All bulls returning to sellers’ farms MUST be insured. Bulls can be kept at our farms at no cost up until April 15, 2022 after that $5.00/day will be charged. Delivery will be arranged as soon as it’s mutually agreed upon by the seller and purchaser. Bulls will be delivered free of charge within 200km of Innisfail. Delivery beyond will be arranged at cost.

The 2022 offering is very consistent in type and kind and we are pleased to welcome you to this exciting consignment sale held at the Innisfail Auction Mart on March 15th. The spear heads behind this sale group, Skylark Cattle Co, StillWater Simmentals, Cameo Farms and Waldron Farms are pleased to welcome first time consignors Grimm Ranches, LRE Simmentals and Rich Simmentals to this exceptional group of like minded breeders.

This sale offering consists of people who have come together with a similar goal in sight, that being to offer a sound and functional set of bulls and females that can positively impact your bottom line.

This sale offering is highlighted by a truly special herd bull being offered by Skylark.The BEE Component sire has done everything Emilee could have asked for and more and due to the fact she’s literally kept every single daughter raised at Skylark, he is being offered for sale in the prime of his life. As you study his 6 sons, you’ll understand why the progeny were so well received in last year’s sale. The 5 full fleckvieh bulls on offer from Cameo Farms are a nice blend of older proven genetics as well as some newer fresher ones. The bulls from Cameo come from a strong cow herd where powerful, productive cows are the bread and butter of the operation - their offering is highlighted by a big strong two-year old bull. StillWater Simmentals has sent out a really strong black yearling bull all the way from Abottsford and we are sure glad they did! Check out the nice birth to yearling curve on this calving ease specialist who grows from 88lbs at birth to a whopping 1,000lbs at weaning. Big time growth as this guy ranks in the top 15% of the breed for yearling grow numbers and top 10% for weaning weight! The Waldron Farms operation is a great, progressive operation that’s brought 8 really solid purebred and fullblood bulls as their consignments. Top AI sires such as War Paint, Dirty Harry, Imax and Regis are represented through their offering and you can rest assured they are backed by an awesome set of females as Waldrons have a keen eye when selecting new cattle to incorporate into their program. New consignor Lisa Reich of LRE Simmentals has brought a really nice, polled, red brockle face bull that’s sure to add some pay weight to his calf crop with his 811lb weaning weight and the added blaze face on your calf crop will be the envy of your neighbours when you utilize this bull. Rich Simmentals has also brought a single entry to the sale with their polled/scurred full fleckvieh prospect. The polled cattle have certainly proven to become more and more popular as they have shown to transfer the same amou nt of growth and performance into their calf crop while throwing a polled head on them. Grimm Ranches has brought some really solid polled and horned fullblood bulls to the sale and these bulls are certainly the type to raise you those desirable white faced replacement females or steers to excel in a feedlot setting.

The replacement heifers on offer from 4 of the consignors are right off the top of their own keeper pens and are the sound functional type that look to be the kind to provide big return on investment. These females are easy keeping, big ribbed females that are bred to raise big calves year after year while looking good doing so. The dam of this calf RJY Irresistible 30E was purchased to develop and add performance to my small Simmental herd. Her maternal qualities, udder and feet are strengths. Her calves also have a long gestation but are always born unassisted. Mr. Jazz weaned at 811 lbs on August 16 and had an adjusted weight of 845. Out of a beautiful Blueprint daughter that I quite honestly wouldn’t change anything about, she is one you wish you had a full herd of. Coming from SIRE the Jessie cow family, SKY Destiny 72E, carries a picture-perfect udder, incredible milking ability and is a true brood cow, traits all very typical of this cow family. Sired by Ricochet Zhek 210Z adds both milking, style and maternal ability with many greats in the pedigree such as WNLP Usher 32U, RRV Natalie, IPU Bronson 19K and Anchor T Barbie 46K to name a few. Wow what a bull! 15J is a favorite in the bull pen and is always picked out by those who toured throughout the summer and fall, he really has been outstanding from the very beginning. 15J comes from the Emily cow family, one of the best Fleckvieh cow families in the Skylark herd. His dam, Ricochet Emily 703E, was the high selling bred heifer out of the Ricochet dispersal and has gone on to raise the high seller in the Canadian Classic Simmental Sale in 2020 and put another heifer in the replacement pen that is very likely the best one. Udder structure and milking ability is important around here and 703E fits the bill perfectly! 15J tipped the scale at a very impressive 905lbs with an ADG of 3.7 lbs/day. 15J has hip and natural muscling for days, excellent spring of rip, depth of belly and a table top back; he sure is easy on the eyes! 15J is also the pet of the pen, he has it all! To say I was surprised when I reached in and didn’t find a second calf is an understatement. “Jumbo” started off the smallest calf born on the place and weaned right in the middle of the pack.

Even though the birth weight says so I do not recommend him for heifers, his mother’s calves are typically 90-95Lbs but he will still add lots of thickness and growth to his calves.
