SALE DAY VIDEO SALE We have elected to go with a video display only sale again for this year and forgo running big, two year old bulls through the handling system and into the sale ring.

We do this primarily for the safety of the bulls to reduce the risk of injury and bruising.

As always, the bulls will be displayed and sorted for viewing in pens right outside of the sale center. We feel that with your pre-sale evaluation and the excellent videos broadcast on the screens, that you can make a selection with confidence just as previously.

DELIVERY Delivery will be arranged to central locations in Western Canada. For US customers, delivery will be arranged to central locations in the Northern and Central USA.

Calving Ease Legend Calving Ease is often related to birth weight of a bull. This is partly true but there are other factors that influence calving ease. The dam and her management are at least 50% of calving ease. Also, the consistency of the birth weights of the sire and dam should be considered. Nutrition, gestation and environment all influence birth weight. We have rated each bull in the sale based on the information we have.

ET Bulls: We have identified each bull that is an embryo calf with the letters(ET) at the end of their name. It is important to note that the birthweight(BW) is heavily influenced by the recipient dam. The calving ease scores have taken into account the influence of the recipient dam when determining our scoring.

I’m not sure there has ever been a year with as many emotional ups and down in the cattle business as 2023. The weather man definitely challenged our resolution but in the end the beef industry came through with flying colours.

The commercial prices have been strong, the feed stack has been blessed with 6-8 weeks of extremely warm weather and that has translated into genuine positive optimism across both the commercial and purebred sectors. I believe that the intense culling that happened early in the year because of drought has shifted the supply/demand ratio’s in a way that has maybe never been experienced in the history of the beef industry.

OurB U L L P r o g r a m Two Year Old

It’s important to note that not all two year bulls are not created under the same conditions. We are careful to develop our bulls in a manner that ensures their longevity. Our bulls spend the first winter on a ration of pellets and hay to ensure they are grown out without getting over conditioned and then they go to grass for the entire summer without any supplementation and are further developed by grazing on high quality grass. In early Sept they are removed from pasture and begin to transition to a hand fed balanced ration along with free choice hay. The two year old sale bulls go through (5) rigorous culls before they make the sale list that includes phenotype, foot quality, performance & scrotal development. The goal is to ensure that by sale time the bulls are in ideal breeding condition and exhibit natural muscle expression so buyers can see the genetic potential of the bulls.

Platinum Warranty Program Blairs.Ag Cattle Company guarantees to sell a bull that is able to pass a semen test prior to the 2024 breeding season.

Should any bull purchased through the Pursuit of Excellence bull sale fail to be a satisfactory breeder or be unable to physically service a cow or heifer, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value. Should this not be possible, we will issue a credit to go towards the purchase of another bull. We will not however provide warranty for mismanagement.

While under our warranty, the bull is covered for injury, sickness or death. We will service your needs with a replacement bull, a sale credit or a cash settlement. Should you have any problems with a bull, please contact Kevin Blair and he will work to make sure your cows get bred and you are a satisfied customer. We do have back up bulls set aside and that will be the first step to cover off any warranty issues. Blair’s Platinum Bull Warranty is designed to protect your purchase during the most high risk time of a bull’s life.

We offer the following options and are required to be paid on the day of the sale. It is the buyer’s responsibility to purchase at the settlement desk.

COVERAGE: Plan #1 – This plan is designed to warranty a bull from sale time until the bull can be delivered and has the opportunity to adjust to its new surroundings. The length of the Plan #1 warranty is 90 days. Plan #1 warranty covers 100% of the purchase price less the salvage value when applicable.

Plan #2– This plan covers the bull through breeding season and is 100% of the purchase price less the salvage value when applicable.

EXCLUSION TO WARRANTY: Any injury or death due to malicious, willful or intentional acts or mistreatment are considered fraudulent claims.

Should an issue arise with your bull please notify Blair’s immediately by phone 306-365-7922 or by email kevin@blairs.ag. You will also need to contact a licensed veterinarian to diagnose and treat the animal and fill out a vet form. If the animal dies, a post mortem will be required.

Note: All bulls that are left at Jackson Cattle after the sale for delivery will be automatically charged the 90 day Plan #1 bull warranty on their invoice. This is designed to protect both the buyer and seller.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes the auctioneer’s decision will be final.

Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by either the Canadian Angus Association or the Canadian Simmental Association accordingly, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Pedigree Estimates: Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Guarantee: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by either the Canadian Angus Association or the Canadian Simmental Association accordingly, with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The sellers, facility owner, auctioneer and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either part to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller.
