Pacific Invitational All Breeds Female Sale

Page 1

Another year come and gone and here we are at the 4th Annual Pacific Invitational All Breeds Female Sale! Things in the cattle industry are more exciting than ever with record setting prices each week! This optimism is evident with the increased amount of consignments we have to offer in this years’ sale. Breeders have hand selected females from the very tops of their replacement pens for you and I think everyone will be pleased with the quality represented! We have cattle coming from near and far for you this year, stretching from the lower mainland to the Peace Country! A huge thank you to my committee, the consignors, sponsors, advertisers, volunteers, and sales staff. It takes a lot of man power to keep a sale of the caliber running smoothly and I couldn’t do it without all the help!! Please study this catalogue and contact any of the consignors or our sales’ consultant, Bohrson Marketing Services, for any information on these great females! Erin Kishkan Chairman, Pacific Invitational All Breeds Female Sale

BC Livestock would like to welcome the Pacific Invitational Female Sale back to our Williams Lake facility for the fourth consecutive year. We are looking foward to witnessing some of the best cattle in the industry go through at the strongest prices we have ever seen! These are exciting times for everyone involved and we are proud to be a part of it. Thank you, Kevin Johnson General Manager

All buyers will be entered into a draw for 2 tickets to the October 11, 2014 BC Lions vs Ottawa Red Blacks CFL Football Game! See page 34 for details. JACKPOT HEIFER SHOW - Saturday at 11 am.

Welcome to the 2014 Pacific Invitational Female Sale. I have 4 heifers on offer at the sale this year. 2 of the heifers are AI sired, and 2 are sired by a Final Answer son that I raised. This is a strong set of heifer calves that will be productive in today’s purebred market. The AI sires were chosen for their correctness, maternal traits and docility. NXS 20Z, the walking sire, was used mostly on heifers and his calves came easily and grew well. 20Z is sound and correct with an excellent foot. I try to raise functional easy doing cattle that will work well in a variety of settings and environments; these heifers will get out and work for you.

Miss Buxom 1B is growthy, deep and feminine. She is the top AI heifer calf in the pen. 1B is sired by Long Distance, a maternal and calving ease sire with good growth. Her dam, 24W, is a good young cow that is trouble free. She has good udder structure with small teats, and she is correct through her feet and legs. 24W’s dam, Belle 50L, raised her 11th calf this year; this heifer comes from a line of cows with exceptional production and longevity. 1B will be a member of my 2014 show pen.

Black Velvet 2B is a really fancy, clean made heifer. The sire of this heifer, Connealy Thunder, is a calving ease sire that produces correct, functional females. The Black Velvet cows all come from my 215R cow; who is an excellent producer and always weans one of the heaviest calves in the fall. This heifer’s dam, 9Z, looks to be following in 215R’s footsteps, and I am sure this heifer will follow suit as well. 2B will be a member of my 2014 show pen.

Mayflower 20B is a long, deep and feminine heifer. This heifer’s pedigree is strongly influenced by many leading AI sires including Final Answer, BR Midland, Legacy and Density. Each of these sires have strong maternal genetics and are known for producing excellent females. NXS 4T, 20Z’s dam, is one of my top producing cows. She is trouble free with excellent feet and a good udder. NXS 15X, 10Z’s dam, is a Density daughter who was Grand Champion Angus female at the 2013 Nechako Valley Exhibition with her bull calf at foot. We would like to welcome you to the Pacific Invitational All Breeds Female Sale. We started our herd in 1996 with two Red Angus heifer calves from Muddy River Angus. Since then we have expanded our herd into raising Black Angus and Herefords as well. We also have a small herd of commercial cows. We are happy and a bit sad to offer two females from our last calf crop from N.B.A Prim Bando 15W. We have kept every heifer from this bull and been pleased with the great mothers they have become. Check out our website to view the sire, service sire, half sisters and full sisters at www.cjayranch.com. We look forward to see you all on sale day and we invite you to drop by the stall.

Welcome to the 4th Pacific Invitational Female Sale We bought our first registered Red Angus heifer calves 20 years ago. Our first Black heifer was a “J” bought from RST Angus who went Elite and had a weaning index of 109 on ten calves. Our herd is now half Red, half Black. We strive for good tempered cows that calve unassisted and maintain their weight without grain. We use A.I. to broaden our genetics and keep up with modern lines. Four of our six consignments this year are A.I. sired. I like to show at area Fairs and enjoy the competition and visiting with fellow breeders.

Welcome to the 4th annual female sale. Since we began raising Black Angus, our goal has been to produce moderate framed cattle that generate calves with moderate birth weights, exceptional gain, all round quality performance and outstanding carcasses. Our females are extremely maternal with excellent feet, udders and dispositions. The two heifers we are consigning will be productive additions to any herd. If you are in our part of the country, feel free to stop by and see the herd. We look forward to seeing you on sale day.

This is another tremendous Tiger daughter. The dam is a second calver from the “Bessie” cow family that has a long history at Gumbo Gulch. We have either sold as breeding stock or retained in our own herd, all of the offspring from this cow family. This heifer is showing all the potential to be a very productive brood cow.

My parents gave me my first cow in 2004. The offspring of that cow have enabled me to have a very successful 4H career as well as providing me with some income from the sale of the bull calves. As I prepare to finish my last year of high school and get ready for university, I have decided to offer up two of my best heifer calves.

These two Tiger daughters are very similar genetically. They are both granddaughters of my 4H cow, Valentine - a cow that enabled me to win a three year futurity contest. Both of her daughters are moderate framed, with exceptional milk and quiet dispositions. My parents kept a lot of heifers out of the Predominant bull because of their growth, milk production and overall maternal qualities. I think these two heifers are showing the best qualities of both the Tiger bull and the Predominant bull. Both of these calves would make great 4H or junior projects.

We are pleased to be a part of the 4th Annual Pacific Invitational All Breeds Female Sale! We have been raising registered Black Angus since 1998 and our focus is on easy fleshing, moderate framed, correct, no fuss cattle. We have, once again, increaded our numbers and will be calving out 100 head in the spring of 2015! 2/3 of our cows are registered, and 1/3 are commercial - mostly Angus x Hereford. We are offering two bred heifers as well as two fancy heifer calves. One bred heifer is out of our Kodiak bull and the other out of the Game Day bull. They are both bred to our calving ease Junior herd sire Gerlei Ambush 62Z. One of the heifer calves is sired by the Ambush bull and the other by the Game Day bull. BCAR Game Day 012 has proven to be exactly what we were hoping for in a herd sire-easy fleshing, deep bodied, well muscled, good footed , calving ease bull! His sons have been well received at the Northern Alliance Bull Sale and his daughters are feminine, deep bodied, moderate sized, good uddered females. We would like to thank all previous buyers and supporters and look forward to visiting with everyone on sale day!

A really deep bodied, feminine female out of a Peak Dot Hobson dam. The Hobson females are really impressive and you will notice that 3 of our entries go back to Hobson. The Zara cow family stems from a heifer we purchased from Dwajo Angus in the early 2000’s. They tend to always have light birth weight calves, are moderate in frame and nice uddered. The futl sister to this bred heifer is probably our best heifer calf this year!

Exposed to Gerlei Ambush 62Z from April 3o-June 30.

Just a March yearling. A very similarly bred and styled heifer to our high seller last year that sold to Cordy Cox and Clint Ellis. Lots of natural thickness and length. Again out of a Hobson cow. The Mayflower cow family has worked very well for us - most of our herd stems back to our original Mayflower 12B cow that we got from my parents, Frank & Dianne Strimbold. She lived to be 19 years old and was a Canadian Colossal granddaughter! The dam of this heifer is a maternal sister to our high selling bulls the last two years in a row. The Ambush service sire is really thick, good natured and throws small calves that have lots of growth.

The Ambush calves come light, but seem to grow well. We are really impressed with the group of Ambush calves we have. Pam and I would like to welcome you to the fourth annual Pacific Invitational Female Sale. We have been raising purebred Angus cattle for over twenty years and in 2013 I had the opportunity to attend Schaff’s Angus Bull Sale in North Dakota where we purchased SAV Referendum 2416. He and his four flush brothers were the most talked about flush in the U.S.A. in 2012. He is sired by Schaff’s high performance and easy fleshing bull, SAV 707 Rito 9969 and his dam is SAV Madame Pride 0075, which is Schaff’s highest income producing cow at 1.4 million. The combination of genetics in the bull we purchased is the only one we know of in B.C. or Alberta and we are very excited to offer these three heifer calves from our new bull’s first calf crop.

Red Moon has consigned five bred heifers and one heifer calf from our herd. The yearling heifers were all exposed to Red Brox Zander 11Z purchased from Brox Stock Farms of Wetaskiwin, Alta. All will be preg checked before the sale. Zander’s first group of calves hit the ground running this past calving season and have shown good growth on pasture. His females are very feminine; the bull calves are showing good muscle definition. Over all we pleased with his progeny. Heifers are vaccinated with Expess 5, Tasvac, Foot rot vaccine and Ivomec. All yearling heifers are sired by Red U2 X-Factor. This is a bull we own in partnership with Heart of the Valley Farms, Brad, Aleta and Hayes Chappel. X-Factor is from a Black Angus cow and brings fresh genetics to our breeding program. Study the pedigrees on the heifers, you will find some really sound breeding. Please feel free to contact us at 250 567 9762 if you have any questions about our heifers. We also welcome you to visit us at the farm.

We have been in the Angus business since 1965 and we have always liked our cattle to be low maintenance. We have been on a performance system since 1969. These heifers are all from our Kodiak son that had a habit for finding the cows that were cycling hence the odd age heifers. Our first daughters of 132W all have great udders on moderate frames with good feet. Choosing sale heifers was different this year as we had some health problems last year so need to downsize. These heifers are all keepers. We have great confidence in their ability to make exceptional brood cows.

Our Christmas miracle. Cow disappeared on the 22nd and we got a dump of snow and we couldn’t find cow in 100 acres of willows. Christmas morning she arrived home with this calf. A real mother as it had snowed about 20 cm. and been minus 20. She comes from the Mayflower family that has been here for 40 plus years. They have done us well.

We are pleased to again participate in the All Breed Heifer sale with two nice Red Angus heifers with solid pedigrees. Our purebred herd has its foundation from several well known and respected breeders. We constantly work around the cattle and they are fairly mild mannered, quieter and much easier to handle. They are good mothers, with good udders and have calves that are “up and at ‘um” shortly after birth! We are approx. 66 mi. NW of Quesnell, and 45 mi. SW of Prince George in the ranching community of Punchaw. We also offer Red Angus bulls, replacement heifers and red & black commercial Angus for sale.

Northstar’s sire, Red Nine Mile Sakic’s pedigree includes Red Six Mile Sakic, Red Six Mile Aviator, and dam Red Moon Moxie/Red Get -a-long. Annabell is a solid heifer with chunky hind quarters and a nice head. Her granddam, Red Lundean Annie was our original favourite cow with good body confirmation, milk and excellent disposition. These traits have been passed on to many of her heifers! She has supplied us with several fine daughters that we have kept in our herd. A nice addition to any herd of purebreds! When we introduced Gelbviehs to our Pritchard, BC commercial herd in 1998, we were impressed with their ability to thrive on rangeland, their pigmented hooves/udders, their gentle disposition, and their maternal attributes. Along with our AI program and bull selection from top ranking sires, our herd strategy is to maintain easy fleshing, moderate framed, maintenance free seedstock. While maintaining calving ease, crossing with Gelbvieh adds flesh to the hind quarters, increases weaning weights and adds the hybrid vigour that feedlots want. The trademarked “Balancer”, a Gelbvieh/Angus cross, have become very popular across Canada and the USA as cattle buyers recognize their excellent quality and value. BRM 412B’s picture was taken July 2/14, updates available upon request.

This black heifer is very long and feminine with lots of hind quarters. Her udder development appears to be just as great as her dam’s. Her 5 year old dam has given us 4 top end calves, is quiet, easy to handle, and is from one of our longevity cow families. BRM 412B’s sire, VV78XET, is a very thick, moderate framed, easy keeper and has proven his value by passing his great traits on to his offspring. Don’t overlook this gal as she has the potential, traits, and genetics to be one of your top producing females

Throughout my 83 years, I have raised many breeds of commercial cattle. Over ten years ago, I introduced Gelbvieh genetics into my large commercial herd and was very satisfied with their calving ease, docility, and growth. Their maternal strengths and early maturing are a bonus to the commercial cattleman. In 2007, I started raising my own purebred herd, working together with B & R Ranch to maintain a high standard of genetics, through sire selection and AI. My objective is to produce great working cattle with eye appeal and the ever important fertility and growth. By raising quality Gelbvieh seedstock, I can contribute great benefits to the cattle industry.

Kootenay Polled Herefords is a partnership formed in 1988 by two longtime Hereford breeders. From that time they have built a very high end herd, sourcing the best genetics across North America. We have been buying some of the breed’s top bulls, and females that have helped take our herd to the next level. We bought Dennis and Darlene Burrows cow herd the fall of 2012 which has now given us the opportunity to sell replacement females. As before we just sold bulls, and put the females back into the herd. We look forward to meeting you at the sale.

Exposed to B Bar Colbalt April 8, 2014 – July 31, 2014 – SAFE

This is female that we have really liked since she was a calf. She is from a very fertile cow, long bodied, sound footed cow, and she shows those same characteristics. She is extremely attractive and feminine and as a Time Traveler daughter, is sure to have a beautiful udder and be an exceptional mother! She is safe in calf for a mid February 2015 calf.

There was much debate between us as to which female we would part with in this sale, but we are very excited to offer this Xtractor daughter. She is one of 5 flushmates that were born this spring, and being a bit younger, it took her a while to show her true colors. But this cherry red beauty has just been exploding these last few months and we are really excited about what she brings to the table. Her dam is lead donor in our herd and has proven herself with every mating! This heifer will blow your socks off on sale day!

We are extremely excited to be participating in the 2014 Pacific Invitational. 2014 is a stellar year in the cattle industry with all time record high prices, and regained confidence and enthusiasm across the board. The calves we have on offer are bred specifically to promote profitable and predictable calf crops. They are allowed to develop naturally with only their mother’s milk and pasture grass. All animals were pictured late July. For additional information on these animals and our overall program, please feel free to contact us anytime.

This Upstart calf has all the makings to be a foundation female, thickness, length, and plenty of barrel. I really appreciate what this heifer has to offer and will have a tough time parting with this blood line. The dam is an excellently tempered female, with a nice tidy bag that is always full of milk, and big square feet.

Another standout Velocity female since birth, 109B is an excellent representation of moderate performance in a showy package. He dam is a really hardy cow, which is very predictable in terms of the types of calves she raises. Depth, muscle expression, and great barrel all travelling on nice square feet really draws attention.

Beauty indeed. If you are looking for length and consistency in a female and blood line, 145B is the solution. Sired by MMWK Velocity 41Y, her cherry red hair coat, feminine shape, and flashy confirmation coupled with a nice tidy head, will certainly be appreciated in the show ring. KLR BECKY 69A is going to make a great brood cow. Her grandmother is eleven years old with a perfect udder and strides out like a young cow. Becky’s dam is deep bodied and big footed. A very fertile line with excellent conformation. Becky’s sire is out of Bradock 2T who’s pedigree is outstanding with Antonius the cow maker. Welcome to the 4th Annual Pacific Female Sale. KRS has been raising purebred Simmentals for over 15 years. I strive to maintain a set of hard working females that are able to withstand the range conditions of our area. Our type of cattle are moderate framed, good uddered, easy fleshing and highly maternal. I market and sell a select number of bulls by private treaty every spring and the past few years have been offering females in this sale as well. For 2014, I have decided to sell choice on two black show heifers that are very similar in type and make.

These two black heifers have been hard to choose between, so I am letting you take your pick. KRSS Blk Bombshell is a Broker daughter out of a productive young Show Off Cow. She is stylish and correct and I feel would make a great foundation female or a show prospect for anyone. KRSS Blk Bliss has a lot of potential, her pedigree is hard to beat. Bliss is a direct daughter out of the now deceased Hooks Shear Force and the Kelsa cow line. This combination should interest anyone looking to start into the Simmental breed. Both heifers will be shown across BC this summer and be ready to add to any herd.

Webster Simmentals is operated by myself and my 4 children,Jared,Chelsea,Joel & Jace. I recorded my first heifer in 1970 so have seen a lot of changes in the industry. Our herd presently consists of 22 black and red cows. We use AI and natural sires. Welcome to the sale and hope you like our consignments.
