We welcome you to our

14th Annual Pasture Treasures Female Sale Welcome to this year’s edition of Pasture Treasures Female Sale. This is our largest group of females we have ever sold, and without question the deepest group in quality from top to bottom we have ever produced. You will notice when looking through this year’s selection, absolutely every herd sire will be represented either in offspring, services or a semen lot. Another feature we are extremely proud of is we did something different this year and absolutely every heifer we offer with the exception of the black heifers went through the AI pen. These heifers are not only bred to proven calving ease bulls, but bulls that will add value to their progeny. All heifers were Ultra Sounded 28 – 60 days of pregnancy so we are very confident of the breeding information, as well as they will all be redone prior to the sale to ensure they are settled.

This is a year that has been trying for many, but I encourage you to look ahead as to what is in store. We have seen large numbers of cows hitting the local sale barns across the prairies. If there was ever a time to re-invest in our future it’s now. I am pretty confident in saying next year’s cow market will be crazy good.

As the Canadian cow herd will be significantly down in numbers. Be prepared to see record prices when the rebuild begins, and next fall’s calf market could be the highest we have seen for a long time. The cards have been dealt, and whoever stays in the game is in for a large payday.

As I mentioned in the beginning the quality in this year’s class runs deep. We appreciate that selections could be a bit pickier based on numbers that will hit the marketplace, so we felt we needed to go even deeper than ever before to bring you the best. Have confidence in knowing there is not a single female in this sale we wouldn’t be proud of retaining for our own herd. If we don’t feel they deserve to be in our herd, we certainly don’t feel they belong in yours then either. Make your selections with the greatest of confidence that a lot of thought, and dedication has went into this selection.

We have changed up the catalogue a bit this year listing them by age, as well we broke Mackenzie and Garren’s heifers out to give them a bit more profile for their own breeding programs. We are also very pleased to welcome a small group of guest consignors again this year. We have the utmost confidence in these breeding programs as well, as they are tremendous people with a vision to only bring the best to represent their programs as well.

Another great added feature for this year’s event is the fact that we will not be a standalone event. The Evolution Sale, hosted at Black Gold Simmentals, will take place the day before our sale. Certainly for anyone traveling a distance be sure to take advantage of that as between these two sales we will have accumulated some top quality genetics for your appraisal. The Bohrson Marketing crew will be at both sales so if you need assistance with either event please don’t hesitate to contact their professional staff.

As most of you know I spend a lot of time at a commercial market. The #1 criteria there is quality, regardless of breed or color. If they are the right cattle they have the potential on any given day to top the market. When we were bull shopping this past spring our needs were simple. We simply wanted the best bulls that suited our program, to offer our commercial bull customers the best option in the future. We made the decision to add “Creed” into our bull battery last spring. This is a bull that boasts a powerful pedigree, and traces back to a couple amazing cow families. “Creed” is a bull we were drawn to because of his tremendous length, thickness and muscle shape. He has fantastic foot structure, testicular development and overall eye appeal. For us it’s just a bonus of him being polled as first and foremost he is the right bull for our program. He certainly created quite a buzz this past spring and we anxiously await his first calf crop. We will offer two lots of 5 straws each, with the opportunity for the purchaser to purchase additional semen at a $50/ straw discount from the original purchase price.

Semen will be Canada and USA qualified and stored at Alta Genetics. This will be the only semen marketed on him for 2022 breeding season.

We were in the need for a few new bulls last spring, and “Bowman” has certainly turned into a family favorite. We spotted him last fall and the whole family liked him, but honestly he wasn’t the bull we were looking at this spring. When we went and looked the night before the sale, he became the mutual consensus on the bull we should try to own. He worked a big pen this spring, doing a great job and maintaining his condition in the process. He is an absolute pleasure to work with, and Garren thought he would be pretty cool to show, so after he was done breeding we halter broke him. He was fortunate enough to be named Champion Yearling Bull and Supreme Champion Bull at the AYCSA show.

This is a bull with a tremendous disposition, large sound foot structure, great athleticism and movement, easy fleshing and great muscle structure. We feel as though he is going to combine both growth and calving ease, and is stacked with a superb pedigree as well. Same story as the other bulls in this will be the only semen offered for the 2022 breeding season, offered in two lots of 5 straws with the opportunity to purchase additional semen at a $50/ straw discount from the original purchase price. We felt as though we would offer semen on “Radioactive” once again this year.

Last year’s semen all went to the USA selling to Simmentals of Texas & Little Creek in Mississippi. The semen we have sold in the past has only gone to a couple homes, so it certainly adds value in still remaining somewhat exclusive.

“Radioactive” did a fantastic job for us in the short period of time we owned him. We now have his first daughters in production and we are very impressed.

Garren showed a daughter of his this year at the AYCSA show, where she was named Champion Bred and Owned Female. They have great udders, solid footed, moderate framed, easy fleshing and tremendously docile dispositions. All that while combining calving ease and adding the polled factor. As you can see we only offered one female from him this year, as we wanted to retain a few more for ourselves. This semen is very exclusive so it certainly adds value to whoever is the successful bidder, and it will be the only semen marketed on him for the 2022 breeding season. We are only parting with a couple “Mr.Gibbs” daughters this year. We unfortunately will not have any offspring available next year, but the old boy went to work again this spring so we anxiously await another calf crop from him in 2022. He has been a mainstay in our program, and has made some outstanding contributions to our program. His daughters are fabulous producers and typically possess his same gentile nature.

“Gwendolyn” comes from an outstanding young cow we purchased from MAVV Farms. This will be a workhorse of a female, and I anticipate she will produce several top notched offspring in her time. She looks to me like a bull maker for sure.

For those of you who really research pedigrees, I’m honestly not sure if we have another female that boasts a stacked pedigree quite like “Gloria”. There are too many big name cows and bulls in this pedigree to even begin. If you typically don’t research them, I encourage you to do so on this one it’s pretty cool. We were given the opportunity to purchase the mature cow herd from Rocking R a few years ago, and the dam of “Gloria” was one of the jewels in the mix. This is a great young cow and as you can tell by my comments already she has an impeccable pedigree. The “Precision” daughters we have producing are just straight goods. Very honest cows that will moderate birth weight but still supply lots of growth. A very nice female here that will be very easy to find a big list of bulls that would work with her.

Well I went against my own rules in saying we weren’t going to sell anymore “Barbossa” daughters. “Gabrielle” has a very unique and somewhat outcrossed pedigree for us, as she is off of our only “Roonik” cow. Her dam was a big robust broody female that was always in mint condition. The “Barbossa” daughters we have are undeniably some of our very best producers. They maybe aren’t always the first cows you notice, but you do notice them come weaning time when they bring in a monster calf. If you research many of our past sale you will find a high percentage of “Barbossa” daughters have produced the high sellers as well. “Gabrielle” won’t be the first heifer you find sale day, but I promise she will be good.

Interestingly as many of you know Karen is always posting cow pictures on social media. This heifer found her way onto our Facebook page last fall, and generated some interest. Her pedigree is special, and she comes from our ET program, so we decided to go ahead and add her to this year’s event. This will be an extremely honest hard working female, whose dam was an incredible producer for us. Don’t let a little chrome throw you off this will be a solid cow.

This is one of my personal top picks in the “Aegon” sire group. Her dam is a beautiful young cow we purchased from Silver Lake Simmentals, MB. She has been a nice producer for us, and offers a whole different twist of pedigree for our program. “Heddie” is an average sized female who is extremely capacious, wide topped, and very well balanced. Look to these “Aegon” daughters to add foot structure, ease of fleshing and nice udder attachment. A little plainer colored but don’t overlook her she is plumb good and very tough to find a flaw in. Just a great brood cow in the making right here.

“Honna” is a pretty cool heifer. Her young “French Attack” dam is pretty special, and her “Barbossa” grand dam has already made a mark for herself producing a few front end bulls in the sale, including “Disco” who worked for Yellow Rose / Hampton Simmentals and now finds his home at Virginia Ranch. We don’t have an abundance of “Precision” daughters in this year’s sale. I know the ones we have in our own program we really really like, and are fabulous producers. A great pedigree and bred back the right way, this is a winning combination.

“Hallie” is an own daughter of the great “Kael” cow who was a former high seller in this sale, purchased by Canadian Donors. She has done a tremendous job for us and many others through embryo sales. “Hallie” is her natural calf sired by non-other than “Rogant”. The power of this female is second to none, she has her dam’s picture perfect udder, and the same angularity and broodiness. This female is raw power and will do great things for the breed in her time. No doubt in my mind she could easily find her way into someone’s donor pen in the future. The breeding to “Radioactive” could prove to be an absolute masterpiece. Not much you would want to change here, pretty tough not to appreciate this one.

The dam of “Pacifica” is a been there done that kind of cow. She is a past high seller of this sale selling to our good friends Pacific Cattle Co in Australia. As she is on shares with us, every one of her offspring has been sold through the sale. Regardless of it being a heifer or bull her offspring has always been found near the top end of the sale. “Pacifica” is an outstanding female, possessing exceptional length, thickness, hair and being polled are an absolute bonus. This is a heifer I would dearly love to keep as we don’t have any daughters in our herd from her dam, but the opportunity for you is there so take advantage. The pedigree of “San Antonio” doesn’t necessarily say heifer bull, but his track record does prove him to be a calving ease bull. Even though it’s not the mating we initially planned for as she didn’t stick to her AI, I do think this breeding will be very good.

Last year we were a bit stingy when it came to parting with “French Attack” daughters, with only one in the offering. Well “French Attack” ended up working double duty so this year there is a large number of them so we dug in and found some dandies to part with. “Delilah” will lead this group and was a hard choice for us to add into the sale. “Helayna” is another heifer I really have a hard time parting with. Her dam has been a stellar producer for us sprinkling progeny from BC to Ontario, and always putting a good one in the mix. As a model “T” cow she is still as solid of producer as we own, and being the 3rd oldest cow on the place shows no sign of slowing down. She has a very different pedigree, which is stacked with greatness. A true workhorse in the making here. “Raptoress” is another female from our embryo program, a direct daughter of “Unique”. “Camari” comes from a stellar cow family that has been highly productive for us. Her dam had an accident on pasture so had to be shipped due to injury so this is her last calf, which is very unfortunate as this young cow had a bright future, and produced Mackenzie’s very last 4-H calf who went on to be her Reserve Champion steer. Its funny when we sometimes see a cow has produced a steer we automatically assume they weren’t good enough. Perhaps, but also keep in mind numbers, age and market share. I recently heard a statement that made an awful lot of sense to me. If you see a breeder with a good pen of steers, you can assume they have a great pen of bulls. Well said. End of the story is this is a dark red, heavily pigmented heifer with lots of length and style. The breeding to “Imax” should really be complimentary.

“Admiraless” is certainly something different for us. She is a Homozygous Polled Full Fleckvieh heifer. She offers a lot of different mating options. She is a more moderate framed heifer that I would personally breed back to a big power horned bull down the road as you know you will get a Polled calf. “Halita” is a twin, of which we retained her full sister. Her dam has been a very steady producer for us, and produced a full brother, “Wasabi” who is working for Keets Simmentals, SK. This is a stylish Polled heifer with a little extra punch coming from “Mr. Gibbs” and offers the option of being able to mate her back to whatever choice of bull you desire as she is a cow that will moderate birth weight but still add enough power and growth on her own. As I mentioned she is a twin and we retained the full sister for ourselves. The full sister did have scurrs, which is why we chose to keep her for ourselves. She is mated the same way a couple days earlier. Whoever buys this heifer if they would prefer her full sister instead we are certainly open to trading them straight across.

This was our first calf crop from “Fort Knox”. As you will notice he ran heavier to heifers, only having three sons in the bull sale, who were very well received. He saw much heavier use last year and will rival “French Attack” next spring for the largest sire group in the sale. We are extremely happy with the job he has done, and “Halette” appears to be a very good example of what he has to offer. This is a very solid colored heifer, which has great angularity, capacity and length. Lots of eye appeal, great foot structure and they appear as though they will have very beautiful udders. We only have a few “Sorcerer” daughters in our sale this year, and keep in mind they all come from first calving heifers. “Hermosa” is a fantastic female that we really like the style and make up of. Her dam is a very powerful “Mr. Gibbs” daughter which gives her that extra punch. We do have a handful of “Sorcerer” daughters producing for us, and they are really nice uddered tidy females that are extremely feminine and very productive. This will be a tremendous cow, and is a heifer that just gets better and better every day.

This is without question one of my personal favorites in this year’s sale.

Her heritage is packed, tracing back to three of the most influential donor cows we ever had work for us in “Dorothy Jane, Herlinde & Aster”. This is another heifer I have a very difficult time parting with, as we don’t have an abundance of “Rawlins” daughters in our herd.

The small numbers we have are absolutely tremendous producers.

I love this heifer right now, she is virtually flawless, however I think when she is a mature cow she will be a female that stops people in their tracks. No doubt in my mind she will only get better and better with time, and will be towards the front end of this year’s sale. This is a donor cow in the making.

“Haimi” is a female that is bred to last forever. Lots of longevity sprinkled through this entire pedigree. The “Aegon” daughters are very sound footed, easy fleshing cattle, with great rib shape, very solid coloring, and beautiful udders. They will all be very similar in makeup, and are just good solid brood cows. “Haimi” goes back to an excellent cow we purchased from Porter Ranches many many years ago. This was a solid breeding piece in our program, and after all these years her progeny still makes solid contributions to our herd. This is a heifer that will fit in most people’s budgets and will be a great addition for dollars invested.

We are not single trait selectors, but we do try to raise a few of these really good buckskins, hoping to get some tan bulls. So I had zero intensions on selling any tan heifers, but low and behold, “Herma” ended up getting sorted into the sale pen. This female comes from a cow that looks the part 24/7, a true front pasture female. A beautifully designed udder, tremendous rib shape, extremely angular and absolutely great feet and legs. “Herma” should develop into the same female, and will be a brood cow. Now bred to “Precision” our secret weapon. This will be a deadly combination.

This is the last of the “Shazam” daughters. She comes from a very solid producing cow that has a great pedigree and cow family behind her. These “Maltese” daughters are bull producers, and I feel he is a bull who still has much to offer our industry yet today. “Heidie” is a heifer whose pedigree is slammed with color. If you like them dark red, heavy pigmented and lots of hair then its all here. “Shazam” made a big impact this past spring in our bull sale where he produced the high average dollar sire group. This is one of the few heifers that didn’t stick to her AI, and truth be known if she did settle to AI she would have been retained for ourselves as she would have been bred for late December, and we didn’t want any December breeding dates in the sale. We purchased her dam from Apple Cross Genetics, and as you know I’m a huge believer in the strengths of cow families. This is a cow family that I had admired for years for multiple generations, going all the way back to the great, great, great grandmother. (Yes we do study it that deep.) If you want to build a herd, our philosophy has been to build on the strengths of foundation cows and work up from there. This is as good of foundation as you can ask for, as good as it gets.

In my opinion “Hestia” could be one of this year’s sale sleepers. This is our largest sire group, so there could be some of these heifers that get a little overlooked. This is a heifer I appreciate more and more each day. So here’s my sales angle on her. Yes this is the largest sire group, and “French Attack” also had the largest sire group in the bull sale, as well as in our replacement pen. That tells me there is consistency to have that many make the cut. This cow family has been our #1 for many years, being a great granddaughter of “Dorothy Jane”. We unfortunately lost her grand sire, “Moomba” at an early age, however in his brief time with us he produced high sellers in the sales he had offspring in and his daughters we have are superb. This is the lone “Radioactive” heifer in the sale this year, and she is extra special. I had ZERO intensions on selling her, but we needed a “Radioactive” daughter so here she is. “Tawney” comes from tremendous old cow, and this was her very last calf. We weaned her early as she went to town last fall, so perhaps “Tawney” is a bit smaller than the majority of the group. Her ½ sister “Becky” is a family favorite, and has produced in excess of a $10,000 average on her offspring.

“Tawney” is colored right, polled and backed by a winning pedigree.

This is a heifer that comes from one of our old reliable no miss cows.

“Harmony’s” dam has had 11 calves for us with several making their way into purebred breeder’s herds, such as New World, Star West & Dobbie Simmentals, not to mention several bulls that are working in great commercial herds as well. We actually halter broke her when she was about 7 or 8 years old when her bull calf was shown at YCS. If “Harmony” turns out half as good as her dam, you will have a winner.

I originally had no intensions on selling her, but being the old girl has another heifer calf this year we decided we would sell her, as her sister will be staying, and with the age of her dam this could very well be her last daughter to sell. “Brin” is another heifer that is tough to part with. She provides a complete outcross for us on the top side of her pedigree, which is quite valuable to us in searching for new genetics for our own program. Her dam is a nice young cow we purchased from Virginia Ranch, who just happens to be a ½ sister to “Precision”. “Brin” is a powerful female, with extra pigmentation, and the options of having built in calving ease and performance, which makes her a valuable addition to the sale. I have high expectations for this young female, and bred back to “Reputation” could be a tremendous cross. I must admit I even surprised myself when we put this heifer into this year’s sale. “Hayda’s” grand dam was without question one of our favorite cows to ever grace the pastures here, and was a fabulous producer for us for many years. Her dam had the misfortune of losing her calf this spring and was developing a small lump on her jaw so the decision was pretty well made to part ways with her. “Hayda” will be a solid producer, possessing tremendous depth of body, angularity, and enough power to produce bulls. She has the typical “French Attack” hair coat and the extra pigmentation he throws. This will be an extremely solid investment, and bred to “Radioactive” only adds value.

This is a very honest heifer, no extra glitz or chrome, just straight goods.

We sold a small package of cows last fall to Skyridge Farms, MB, in which “Hani’s” dam was one of them. Just a real good producing cow tracing back to the same cow family as the previous heifer (lot #43), all stemming back to our great old “Herlinde” cow. As I said nothing extravagant about this heifer, what you see is what you get. For dollars invested little doubt in my mind she will produce some of the biggest returns. A real solid brood cow in the making here.

This would certainly be one of the heifers that I would mark as a sale sleeper this year. She is a super thick, heavy haired heifer, dark red and white faced. Her dam produced one of our high sellers in last year’s sale selling to Keets Simmentals, SK. “Helaina” is backed by one of our strongest cow families, and just due to age both her grand dam and great grand dam who were both donor cows went to town just last fall at age 12 & 14. Once again this cow family had the largest group represented in our spring bull sale with 11 bulls in the sale. I promise this female will be a producer, have a good look at her.

“Hallelujah” is one of the handful of heifers that didn’t stick to her AI. This is an outstanding female, who comes from an amazing producing cow family. I get grief from Garren every day for talking him out of taking her mother for 4-H, as she has been a no miss cow. Her grandmother is certain to find her way into our donor pen in the future as she is one of those cows who makes our job extremely easy producing well with whatever we throw at her. She has only had two sons to date one being “Sorcerer” the other being “Apex” who works for Stone Simmentals.

To say she is one of our top producing cows is an understatement.

“Hallelujah” is not just one of my favorite “Fort Knox” daughters, but one of my favorite heifers overall. She will leave an extremely large hole in our replacement pen.

“Jewel” is a heifer that can’t help but be noticed. She is a curious heifer who wants to be a pet. When you walk in the pen if you stop suddenly pretty good chance she could run into you as she is always in your hip pocket, but just hasn’t grasped on to being scratched yet.

Her dam is a full sister to “Viper”, so to say she has a stacked pedigree is an understatement. She is bred to be highly productive, and is a very feminine, clean angular female. I expect her to do some tremendous things in her time, and being bred to “Reputation” really makes this the total package.

This is a super sweet female. You will notice she is bred a bit later and was exposed a bit later than the group. When we ultra-sounded going to grass, this heifer had stuck to her early AI breeding, but the vet found her calf was dead she just hadn’t got rid of it yet. We estrumated her and left her with the bull for an extra three days, so that is why she has a later exposure. End of the sad story. This is an awesome young heifer, from one of our top cow families. Our old “Image 21J” cow was a cow that never went into our donor program, but certainly should have.

“Halie” will be an outstanding cow in her time and if she produces anywhere close to the rest of this cow family, she will be super good.

“Hillarie” is a heifer I am sad to part with. If I could change her I honestly don’t know what I would change about her. She comes off the top of the keeper pen, and we feel the need to bring the best to the sale and that is certainly what we have done here. She traces back to the great “Ashante” cow from Buzzard Hollow, and the impact she has had on their program and Simmentals of Texas is huge, not to mention the breed as a whole. This is a heifer made up of years of dedication of genetic selection at its finest. If I was to cherry pick one out of the sale to keep for ourselves this may very well be my pick. “Georgette” is a very solid made “Excalibur” daughter. We are extremely happy with the job this bull has done for us tracing back to the famous “Flirt” cow family. “Excalibur” adds growth body capacity and hair, while still maintaining adequate calving ease. “Helen” would be one of my top picks in our red section. Her dam is a fabulous producer, and has an outstanding full brother to “Helen” at side again this year. This is a heifer that traces back to one of our original old red cows. This cow family has done an outstanding job over the years producing bulls.

They possess lots of longevity, have perfect foot structure, and excellent udder attachment. I feel as though “Heidi” will be a phenomenal brood cow. For whatever reason we missed this heifer in the AI pen, so she was settled on her first service to “Wilson”. I am a real big fan of “Harrietta”, she just has the look of a brood cow to me. We were extremely excited to have added “Wilson” into our bull battery this spring. I was extremely impressed with the “High Roller” cattle at the WLB dispersal and the “43Y’ cow family was on our wish list but we didn’t manage to purchase one, so when “Wilson” was available this spring we were very intrigued. We purchased him in partnership with Soderglen Ranches, so he will not be available to view sale day, as he is working double duty at their ranch. He is a really smooth made bull with great shoulder set, exceptional length, and tremendous foot structure. When he was breeding for us this spring, he just continued to mature and put on weight, and he does appear as though he will be an outstanding breeding piece. Last fall we got a bit more aggressive in our purebred section with the addition of some elite cows from the WLB dispersal. Yes most people know us as Fleckvieh breeders, but we feel as though we have dug in equally as deep in our purebred section. Although our numbers are relatively small in comparison, the quality is deep. “Gwenyth” is without question our #1 black baldie heifer. This is the final calf for “Moe” and at age 17 she was certainly slowing down. A couple years ago Mackenzie had a pair of heifers that were ¾ sisters and practically identical, they were named “Fortune & Fame”. “Fame” went on to be one of the high selling lots that year, selling to Davenor Farms in Quebec, and “Holly” is the first calf from “Fortune”. For what it’s worth this is my personal favorite of Garren’s consignments this year. The dam of “Violet” is a female that tends to probably get over looked somewhat, but wow is she a producer. She has a full sibling to “Violet” at side this year that will be right at the front end of next year’s bull sale. The “Precision” females are outstanding producers, and then going back to “Barbossa” and “Jezebel” who just happens to be my personal favorite cow on the whole farm, winner, winner, you can’t go wrong right here. A slight oversight with breeding as she is bred back to “Precision”, however you can never go wrong with a good thing. This is a little closer than we typically would match up pedigrees, but at the end of the day it should still be a good cross. Not much more needs to be said about this lot, she will do the talking for herself.

“Willow” comes from one of Garren’s top producing cows. This is a no miss cow. She has been bred multiple times “Mr. Gibbs” always resulting in outstanding calves, but is a cow that can be bred to a broad spectrum of bulls and it just works. I know when Garren was picking his sale heifers “Willow” was one of the first to be added into the mix.

She has had a couple full sisters in the sale in the past, including a high seller to Beechinor Bros., but also the reason she was added into the sale pen right off the top is the fact that “Peach” has a heifer calf at side this year by “French Attack” and I would dare say it is going to take an awful lot to convince him to part with her, so her sister is in the mix. “Willow” is a no brainer. Zero guess work in this female, just highly productive. She is one of the very few heifers we didn’t observe cycle in the AI pen, so she was only exposed.

Every once in a while our kids throw us for a loop. Kind of like the name of “Amethyst” I was surprised when he came up with that one, but I was also equally surprised when she made her way into the sale pen.

For those of you looking for a different pedigree, here she is. A daughter of “Jungle” not something you see every day in Canada for sure, and then going back to a “Moomba” dam, which is also somewhat rare.

This is certainly a heifer that is appealing based on pedigree alone, but is put together right in every way. Her dam is an outstanding young cow, who raised a stellar “Epic” heifer calf this year that Garren took out on the show road. “Amethyst” is a heifer with huge potential and deserves your consideration.

This is a real sweet female that grows on me more and more each day.

Her dam is a tremendous young cow Garren purchased from Ferme BMS in Quebec. She was an immediate favorite when she got home and has been a great producer for him. She is a female that is extremely easy keeping, and extremely eye appealing. She has a very nice pedigree and is honestly a cow you wouldn’t change in any way. “Keturah” should develop into the same type of female and will be as good as they come. The decision to breed her to “Imax” was a relatively easy decision, as that is how her dam was bred when Garren purchased her.

That first bull calf turned onto a great bull who is working the pastures at Craigmyle Colony.

Fiona is the coupon her Sheriff dam was carrying when we purchased her out of the 2019 edition of Pasture Treasures. She was our pick of the red heifers that year and being bred to Cobra was the icing on the cake. Fiona is maturing into a typical Cobra female, broody, heavy haired, good uddered, terrific foot quality as well as being accompanied by a tremendous EPD profile. Bred up early to Sunrise Captain Blaze who has done a terrific job for Perkin Land and Cattle as well in our herd in a small sample size. We have a 3/4 sibling on the ground to the resulting mating and he will without question be a headliner in our 2022 spring sale. The Cobra females flat out work and Fiona will follow suit.

BLL Moonray is the natural calf off an influential cow in our program, Eagle Ridge Unbelievable 1U. She’s sold numerous breeder sons into the prairie provinces and down into the States and her daughters are leaving their mark on many programs. Moonray is very long bodied with a big hip and wide top. Dark red and fully pigmented. She’ll be the first daughter we’ve sold off of Sibelle Sugar Ray, a bull who has done a great job adding some substance to his progeny. After seeing the early development of Moonray, we eagerly flushed 1U to Sugar Ray and have a nice group of full siblings on the ground this year. A neat service to the proven Viper, a bull whose daughters continue to rise to the top. A very complete female with attributes that have made her a standout from an early age. She is easy fleshing, big bodied with loads of eye appeal through her smooth lines and correct structure. Strong pigment, this is a heifer that carries herself with poise. She’s also complete in her genetic lineage. Tracing back to her namesake, the famous MFL Petra and one of the cornerstones of our program for the past 15 years, Eagle Ridge Patricia, a cow that we were sad to see go this spring at the ripe age of 17. This heifer is a special one and should leave her own legacy. Electric Avenue has performed extremely well with progeny rising to the top and he is going to have a strong influence on our herd. I am a strong believer that when you head to town, you have to take your best and Farrah Jane fits this bill to a tee! Purchased in-dam with her mother, Anchor D Farissa 242F, this Precision daughter is a standout among a very strong set of replacement heifers for obvious reasons. Farrah Jane has brood cow written all over her and I believe she will exceed every expectation you put in front of her. 10J is a powerhouse wrapped in a nice package of incredible muscling, depth of rib, high milking ability (top 10% of the breed) and a fantastic calving ease ability (top 15% of the breed). Her dam, 242F, has been a fantastic addition to the herd and I have very high hopes for her future. 242F has the most perfect udder and as Danny said, this cow family is made up of workhorses!
