On behalf of Bohrson Marketing welcome to the OPT Bull Sale. We are very proud to have been entrusted by this progressive set of breeders to market an outstanding set of bulls. All three of these producers have had very sought after genetics. Three driven producers coming together for one common goal, to bring you leading genetics that help your cowherd become more profitable, which is more important in today’s industry than any other time. Reading back thru my tour notes I’m astounded how many times I wrote great hair, these will be some of the hairiest bulls to hit the sale run this year. Red, Black, Full Blood, polled and horned they are all on offer sale day at Oakview Simmentals on March 13th.
Perkin Land and Cattle are a 3rd generation farm specializing in grain farming and Simmental cattle. Make sure you check out the Triple Play sons, unbelievable, crazy calving ease numbers!! These sons are the real deal when it comes to covering your heifers. On the opposite end of the spectrum is a Potent son that should be used on some cows, he’s so dark that he’s almost purple. They continually are on the lookout for the next breeding piece that will add to
their already strong cow herd.
Oakview Simmentals have their bulls in arguably one of the biggest bull pens in Western Canada. I love seeing the bulls in such a huge pen as they must do lots of walking to get water, food and bedding. With all this walking the bulls are putting on muscle and its easy to see why these bulls move so smoothly. An added bonus and real highlight of the OPT sale is the extra age bulls that are so sought after.
Triple R has been wowing cattlemen with their powerful females in the Pembina Triangle Female Sale, Winning Breeder of the Year for the past 3 years! Well, these powerful cows have been knocking it out of the park with the bulls too. This is their best bull crop I have seen! A very powerful set of Brooks sons lead the way. All bulls red or black have some more frame, which many people seem to be asking for. Looking forward to seeing you at Oakview Simmentals just outside Darlingford Manitoba. If you can’t make it please call us and we can help you with the best order buying service there is. See ya down the cattle trail.

Welcome to the Oakview, Perkin, Triple R Bull Sale. Thank you to all our past, present and future customers for your support over the years and for your confidence in our herd. It is because of you that we strive to get better and to produce bulls and heifers alike that work for everyone’s programs. The friendships that have been made through selling bulls is something we cherish. We also want to thank our sale partners, Perkin’s and Dequier’s for being so easy to work along side, it is an honour to work with these two families.
Once again, we have a balanced cross section of bulls for your appraisal this year. From a handful of fall born bulls to calving ease and performance, red or fullblood yearlings, we feel there is a bull to meet your needs. The strength of cow families is apparent when you examine the pedigrees and can find the same cow showing up in multiple lots. There are some new and exciting sire groups like Carhartt, Huckleberry, Hank and Grandslam which have their first bulls in this sale as well as a number of tried and true sires like Betts, Tycoon, Lieutenant, Current Affair, Slapshot, Guerrero and Jahari. The bulls will all be penned and ready for viewing on Friday March 10th allowing the entire offering to be viewed together in the days leading up to the sale. As always, prior viewing to the Oakview bulls can be done at any time at your convenience, just give us a call. We look forward to hosting everyone on March 13th and getting the opportunity to enjoy some chili with you and talk bulls.
When it came time to breed TWL Fancy in 2021 it was a no-brainer… she had to have another Lieutenant calf. Kruiser is a full brother to our $37,000 high selling bull “Oakview Hershey”, who makes his home at Rendevous Farms. Kruiser is everything we hoped he would be; he is the darkest of reds, soggy made with a huge barrel and lots of depth. Kruiser is a smooth moving bull with a big quarter and lots of testicle. Like his brother, we feel that he is an ideal candidate for the heifer pen, with an 85lb birth weight, smooth shoulder and small head.
This pair of embryo brothers are powerful, square made bulls that demand your attention. Kraken is the bigger framed, harder muscled of the pair. He has a huge quarter and wide top. Klassic is an extremely stylish bull with a small head, who is the darkest of reds. The Betts bulls are all stamped with the same big quarter, extreme depth of body and overall thickness. In Fancy’s short career, she has had 4 bulls, all of which we consider to be sale features. The Fancy x Betts combination is sure to leave you with calves that are the perfect combination of performance and style. These bulls are equally unique and strong in their own ways. Which is our favorite? That’s a toss up.
HOMO POLLED
Wow! This bull has been a standout since summer. He possesses extreme depth of flank with a huge top and deep-set quarter. With all the depth and sogginess he exhibits, he still has a clean front and extremely eye-catching appearance…and we can’t forget about the phenomenal hair. Keepsake is out of a tremendously powerful and wellbalanced cow. The Daisy cow family consistently produce big barreled, dark red, impressive progeny. The Daisy females all have ideal udders and milk hard. The Lot 5 bull directly below is very closely related as his dam is a maternal sibling to Keepsake and they share the same sire.
HOMO POLLED
I feel like a broken record when describing the Betts’ sons. Never have we ever used a bull that breeds so consistently and stamps all his calves with the same depth, top and hip. The Betts calves are easily identifiable from a very young age. Kokanee is a true performance bull, with EPD’s in the top 1% of the breed for weaning weight and yearling weight. His dam has already solidified herself as a bull maker after hitting it out of the park again this year, following up her contribution to last year’s sale who sold to David Van Mackelberg from Medora. She is a beautifully uddered, young cow that gains maternal strength from the Daisy cow family.

Knockout is a bull that is the perfect blend of calving ease and performance. Here we have a tremendously thick and moderate bull that is packing a lot of thickness into a stylish hairy package. His dam is a Red Mountain x Kop Bengie cow who has out done herself. She currently has 3 daughters in our herd and we have sold 2 of her sons. Whether its carcass traits, maternal strength, or sleep easy nights during calving your cows, Knockout is sure to fit the bill.
POLLED
Krusher has always stood at the top of the bull pen and has demanded the attention of those who toured the pastures this summer. He is the true definition of natural thickness. Here is a bull that is so easy doing that he looked as if he had been on feed all summer. Krusher has pushed down the scales at each weigh in and has the EPD’s to back it up; top 2% and 3% for weaning and yearling weights, respectively. The overall depth of body, and width over his loin and deep quarter are truly admirable. If you are in the business to producing thick calves, here’s one you won’t want to miss out on.
HOMO POLLED
Kosmo is the best of both worlds; the power and style from Betts with a punch of full blood on the maternal side. Kosmo is a blaze faced, big nutted bull with a strong top, smooth shoulder and deep flank. His dam is a 10 year old cow that still has a phenomenal udder and has great feet. Here’s a bull that is built to last.
HOMO
Knox is out of one of our favorite Kop Bengie daughters. Love Affair, affectionately known as “Lovey Love” by the kids, is a powerhouse cow with a solid udder, excellent feet and legs, and has held up as a 7 year old cow to still possess the same strong top, natural thickness and is as fluid moving as she was when she was shown as a two year old. Knox is a performance bull with thickness to spare. He is a dark red, square hipped bull that is exceptionally long spined.

Here’s a bull that is genetically very close to the previous bull…they are both sired by Lieutenant, and their dams are both daughters of Kop Bengie. As you can see the Bengie cow family consistently produces bulls with extra length and power. Kobe’s dam is a bull maker. She has sold 3 sons in the sale already, with her only daughter having her first calf this year. Kobe has an excellent set of performance and carcass EPD’s, is measuring big and is ready to go out and sire some exceptional calves.

Kaboom is a bull that will have a big impact on his new herd. He’s as dark red as they come, with a square hip and lots of overall depth. Kaboom has a nice small head and is clean made. This Tycoon son has a lot of performance traits but is balanced with some calving ease in his pedigree from Brooks and Current Affair.
HOMO
Kendrick is a soft made easy doing bull out of Tycoon and a hard working Crossroad’s Solution cow. I admire this bull for his spring of rib and deep set quarter. He’s a very soft made, easy doing bull with a small head and smooth shoulder.
This Tycoon son is very similar phenotypically to the others in the offering. They are all small headed, deep bodied with overall thickness. His dam is a cow that has stood the test of time. She is an 11 year old cow that is still working hard and producing top end calves. Her daughter is the dam of OVS 270K who is also featured in this sale. Previously, she produced a bull that sold to Jamie Jones, as well as one that we retained for our own use. The son that we have in our herd consistently calves easy and the calves hit the ground and start gaining. We feel that Kismet will follow in those foot steps as he was born at a modest 90 lbs and is in the top 10 and 15% of the breed for weaning and yearling weights.
We start off the Huckleberry sire group with this impressive dark red bull. Huckleberry is a Brooks son that we purchased from our sale partner, Triple R, to use on heifers. All of his bull calves are off first calvers and it’s quite an accomplishment to have such impressive bulls come from your first calvers. Kensington hit the ground at 88 lbs and has developed into a powerful bull. You truly have to admire his thickness and wide top.
Kruger is another thick-made Huckleberry son that was born at 82 lbs. By summer he already had that herd bull look and an impressive quarter. He has continued to develop into a very complete bull with lots of thickness, sound feet and legs, and travels out well. He’s an ideal combination of calving ease and growth.

His dam is a fall born heifer that has developed into an impressive, long bodied, excellent uttered young cow. It’s not very often that you get a bull out of a heifer that ranks among the top 1% of the breed for both weaning weight and yearling weight. Klondike hit the jackpot with his dark red colour, eye catching presence, sogginess. and overall capacity. Here’s a bull that checks a lot of boxes and will have some friends come sale day.
HOMO
Kommotion is about to cause quite a stir. Here is the final Huckleberry son we have on offer this year and was born at just 82 lbs. He is a moderate framed bull that has packed a tremendous amount of meat and muscle into a compact package. You have to admire the depth of flank and overall smoothness of this bull.
We were fortunate to secure a package of Wheatland Next Century when he sold in their 2021 sale. Kade is the only bull that we had in the first year of using the semen and we are looking forward to having more of these dark red calves. Kade is out of a dark red Outlaw cow that has a hint of fullblood in the back of her pedigree.

Kingston is the headliner of the Carhartt offering. He is a bull that has always been leaps and bounds ahead of his counter parts. He is a hairy beast of a bull with unmatched capacity and spring of rib. Kingston has Carhartt’s perfect big feet, big quarter and table top loin. When we bought Carhartt, we admired him for his extreme thickness and depth of quarter and we are pleased with how he passes those traits on, and feel that Kingston is a mini version of his sire. His dam is a big framed Current Affair cow with a beautiful udder. Here is a performance bull that is worth a second look.

Stamped very similarly to the previous brother, Kody exhibits the same natural thickness, great hair and deep quarter. Kody is long spined with a clean sheath and front end. This homo polled bull is out of a Crossroads Solution cow that has fullblood genetics on the maternal side. This powerful bull is one of the heavyweights in the bull pen and one that we think pretty highly of.
HOMO POLLED
Kingpin is a bull with a great disposition, just like Carhartt, coupled with an admirable overall look. He’s soggy made with a big wide top and wide quarter. Kingpin is out of a dark red, fancy Skor’s Missoula cow that has also left us with a very productive Betts daughter in our herd.

Oakview Kain is another Carhartt look-alike. This bull has the same sogginess, mellow disposition and great hair as his sire. Kain is a very structurally correct bull with a strong top, big quarter and great feet and legs. His dam is a Kop Rival female that we purchased as an open heifer. She has had a very successful production career, having raised three fantastic bulls, and two females in production on our farm.
Kinetic is a typical Carhartt son but with the highly soughtafter blaze face. This bull is one that will go out and produce powerful cows with excellent udders. Kinetic has some strong full blood genetics on the bottom side, with the likes of Fairview Zeus and Houston’s Legacy. These were a pair of bulls that we walked that were best known for correcting udders and adding length of body to their progeny.
Well, here is something a little different in our offering. We don’t have a very big group of black cows, but this guy stands with the top of the pen and we have admired him since he was a month old. This CanAm son is big barreled with spring of rib to spare. He’s got a very clean brisket, smooth shoulder, and a big deep-set hip. Kryptonite has exceptional performance and milk EPD’s as well as having a 9.7 for calving ease. His first calving Powerline dam did an amazing job on this bull, bringing home a calf in the fall that weighed nearly 70% of her body weight. Check out Kryptonite on sale day…he’s one you won’t want to miss.
Swing the gate to the heifer pen and let Kahuna in. With a 75 lb birth weight and a 13.7 calving ease EPD, he’s an ideal candidate for use on heifers. Kahuna is out of one of the first Betts daughters to calve on our farm and we have adored her since she was a baby. She has tremendous hip shape, is smooth made with lots of natural thickness; all traits that she has passed on to Kahuna. Kahuna is a stout bull that is soggy made with a small head and smooth shoulder. The EPD’s are crazy on this guy, there sure is a lot of green there.

With an astounding 92 registered calves, Kop Ms Bengie 6P has undoubtably made an astonishing impact in our herd, as well as many others across the country. At 19 years old, her progeny are still relevant and useful for today’s cattlemen. Here are a pair of Current Affair sired embryos that have all the traits that we have adored over the years, from both Bengie and Current Affair. They both exhibit great rib shape and a thick deep-set quarter, extra length and tremendous feet. Blaze or solid red, you be the judge, but either way you can’t go wrong.

This extra dark red bull is carrying a little extra age which should allow him to cover a few extra cows this spring. His sire is a dark red Skor’s Missoula son that we used for fall breeding who exhibited extraordinary length of spine. Jupiter should follow in his sire’s foot steps and produce performance calves that display that highly sought-after cherry red colouring. His dam is a beautifully uddered, powerful cow that has produced functional replacement females and one other son who sold to J Bar K Farms.
Oakview Jagger is one truly impressive bull with a mellow disposition. This fullblood bull boasts tons of overall capacity, thickness and muscle expression. He’s a very easy moving bull with excellent feet. Jagger continues to catch the eyes of visitors as you simply have to admire just how soggy-made he is and how much depth and hip he carries. The maternal strength in this pedigree is very evident. Krystal was a cow that had a picture perfect udder and milked extremely hard which are traits that have passed down through the generations. Performance, longevity and maternal strength, here is an extra age bull that checks all the boxes.
Jett is another eye catching Slapshot son. Here is a cherry red heavily pigmented bull with style and presence. Jett is strong topped with a big hip. We purchased his dam from Anchor D Ranch as a bred heifer and she has consistently produced powerful dark red calves that are easy to love. We run a group of about 35 fall cows each year and really appreciate the added muscle expression and maturity their offspring possess. If you are looking to add milk to your herd, Jett is the solution. He boasts an impressive 39.0 milk EPD.

Justify is another big nutted fall born Slapshot bull that screams performance. His dam is one of the most powerful cows in our herd. She is tremendously dark with lots of pigment, extra depth and muscle expression. Dixie is part of the Pixie cow family who has time and time again produced both bulls and heifers that are top notch. Our long yearling bulls are weaned in May and then spend the summer walking the pastures with our bull calf pairs, they are not on feed until the middle of August. They come home when we wean the calendar year bulls and stay as one contemporary group. The long yearlings like Justify come home and immediately start to bloom into thick heavy muscled bulls.

Jaxon goes back to the heavy hitters Philosophy and Metro. Metro was admired for the daughters he left behind and that strength was very evident in MFI 2N who is the maternal grand dam of Jaxon. Like 2N, Jaxon’s dam also possesses an ideal heavy producing udder.

Jax is a very soft made bull with tremendous depth of flank and spring of rib. He’s got a wide quarter that matches his thick loin. OVS 238C was the calf that was in 12S when we purchased her from Prospect Hill’s dispersal sale. She is a long bodied female with a smooth polled fancy head. This hard-working cow consistently produces calves with lots of thickness and great hair.
Starting off our Yearling Full blood offering we have a Jahari son that is as dark as they come. Kruz is marked up with huge goggles, lip stick and pigment down to his dark hooves. This bull is soggy made with a straight top, round quarter and lots of depth. Kruz is out of Sadie who is known for passing on her excellent disposition, dark colour, and overall muscle expression. In addition to being a masculine bull he is also carrying a lot of maternal strength that he will pass on to his offspring. Sadie was a very heavy milking cow with a great udder.
We purchased an embryo lot from Ferme Erisa at National Trust a few years ago. These are the resulting pair of soggy made bulls from those embryos. Both Kash and Kai are moderate framed bulls with lots of thickness and quarter. They are both very complete bulls that are well balanced from nose to hoof. They have a whopping 40.4 milk Epd, so if you are looking to add some maternal strength and milk to your herd there is a polled and a horned option to fit your needs.

Kongo has had two brothers sell through the sale, one going to Storebo Farms of Saskatchewan, and the other to 4 Matt Simmentals in Alberta.

Kirby is the first son out of Oakview Pixie 6G; the very last of the Pixie 6P calves. Kirby exhibits extreme depth of body, a deep flank and lots of natural muscling. Here is a bull to turn out on mature cows to add some thickness and that always admired maternal strength from the Pixie cow family. Grandslam is a performance bull that leaves you with heavy deep flanked, thick quartered calves that top the group at weaning.
Kelly is a bull that I really admire the shape and overall muscle expression of. He’s a fancy headed polled bull with a big top and round quarter. Kelly is out of a Rolling Acres Red Fern daughter who is developing into a very strong young cow. Her first daughter just calved and is set to be a heavy milking cow like the matriarchs in her pedigree. Kelly has a 43.5 EPD for milk which ranks him in the top 1% of the breed.

The extraordinary length of spine that Koda possesses is second to none. Koda is a very stylish polled bull out of Oakview Hank. Hank is a bull we bred and kept to use on heifers. He is smooth polled, dark red bull that consistently calves out easily on heifers. The Hank calves are all fine boned and angular with clean front ends. Koda would be the ideal bull to throw into second calvers as he has the calving ease on the top mixed with some performance on the maternal side.
Kindle is an 85 lb birth weight beginning of February bull that has lots of calving ease built into him. He is a small headed bull with lots of neck extension that flows into a smooth shoulder all wrapped up in a hairy package. Kindle traces back to the Krystal family which is admired for their ideal udders and excellent feet.
Oakview Kopper has calving ease written all over him. This moderate framed bull is fine boned, small headed with a smooth shoulder. He has the EPD’s and pedigree to go along with his phenotype; he has an 11.3 calving ease EPd, was born at 72 lbs unassisted to a first calf heifer and is out of our easy calving heifer bull Hank. In addition to the calving ease you also have to admire the overall shape and thickness that he possesses. He has developed into a soggy made bull with a deep flank and lots of quarter. With both Rocket and Guerrero in his pedigree he has a double shot of calving ease. Here’s one that will make himself at home in any heifer pen.
Once again, we would like to welcome everyone to the OPT bull sale. We really have a group of 3 farms that strive to do our best in customer service and providing genetics that suit our commercial customer’s needs. We are looking forward again to having the sale at Oakview Simmentals where you can view the bulls outside in big pens and sit in on the video sale.
At PLCC, we will again be having an Open House on Feb. 27, noon-4pm (stop in for lunch) for our local customers that don’t want to make the drive east on sale day and can stay home and bid online with DLMS, or call any of the trusted sales staff of Bohrson Marketing.
As always, we have sons from our bull battery as well as some AI calving ease bulls. We will feature a son of PERKS Potent 309H, the bull that caused a stir at this sale 2 years ago. When the hammer fell, Labatte Simmentals and Circle 7 of SK were the new owners at $70,000. We used him the next spring, breeding a few select cows. The heifers look to be outstanding and the bulls are powerful and heavy muscled.
At PLCC, we stand behind our bulls 100% and we want to meet our customer’s needs any way we can. We encourage you to stop by our farm before the sale, if you can’t make the open house then stop by any day. We are very proud of the mothers and feel the cow behind each bull is as important as the bull himself. We hope to see you all soon.

HOMO POLLED
We were humbled to sell the sire of this bull for $70,000 in our 2020 sale. Circle 7 and Labatte Simmentals made a serious investment in a bull that we were extremely proud to offer, a huge thanks to both programs. We bred a handful of special cows to Potent, and 49K has been an impressive individual from Day 1. His weaning weight and yearling weight EPDs are in the top 1% and at yearling he ranked first in his contemporary group for adjusted weight, ADG and WPDA. Even with facing some feed challenges late this fall, 49K outpaced his pen mates, you don’t need to look at his tag to know who his sire is. He has the Potent presence, masculinity and softness that was so abundant in his sire. The merlot color should be a lock in this guy, his dam is a moderate framed, dark red Blockbuster daughter and combined with Potent’s thick hair coat we’ve hit a homerun on color. This bull is fluid in his joints and hits his holes in a good stride, with big black hooves. He looks to have above average testicle development and should grow to look much like his sire very soon. I’m excited for the future of this bull and will look forward to sampling this bull with some of our own cows. You will look far and wide to find one that checks as many boxes as this guy.
We purchased the dam of these flush mates from Mader Ranches at Friday Night Lights and decided to flush her to Tycoon and we hit a home run with it. We had 5 calves and these 3 bulls are constructed very similar. Long spined bulls with lots of middle, they move out on a square frame with a big hip. With all this performance and growth, they are made with a smooth shoulder that should provide extra calving ease for your cows. Heavy haired bulls that are going to sire the right type for the industry today. 48 K g 242K
I’ve been excited for this calf for many reasons over the past year. First of all, he is a black baldy which we can’t seem to make enough of. Secondly, his dam is a big bodied good uddered cow that we think enough of that we flushed her to LFE Loyalty last spring and are anticipating 9 calves. The third reason I’m excited for this calf is he’s a full sib to PERKS Red Wolf 44G which we sold to Beechinor Bros. of Bentley, AB three years ago. We are proud to say Red Wolf sired BEE Chester 915J that sold for a mere $125,000. So what is Timber Wolf like? Well, he is a long bodied smooth shouldered bull with good neck extension that should have the same calving ease and short gestation we expect from our Blaze sons. Nice balanced set of EPDs with calving ease in the top 10%, growth top 25% and maternal calving ease top 2%. Go ahead and buy this guy and maybe you can knock out a Chester or two.

He will work well on a group of solid black cows to add a touch of white to your calf crop. Take a good look at him – hairy, thick and early masculinity, he’s a hard one to miss.
POLLED BLACK PUREBRED BPG1404811 - PLCC 1835K - 5/2/2022
A Blaze son that comes out of a cow with a tremendous amount of power and performance in her cow family. He was the top weaning bull in his contemporary group this fall and remains in the top 2% for weaning weight EPD and ranked 2nd in his contemporary group for adjusted yearling weight and WPDA. Quiet as a mouse, soft made, good haired and lots of grow. Adding pounds to your calf crop will get more valuable in years to come. His dam has only had 2 bulls, this one and a bull that sold last year to Blaine Van Damme. Of the 3 daughters she’s had, we’ve sold 2 through the PTSA sale - one to Dana & Megan Johns, and one to Maplehurst Farms, and the third daughter we couldn’t part with so she remains in our herd. Don’t miss this bull, a lot of market value in this young herd sire.
POLLED
A powerfully constructed Potent son, he stands square on a larger frame with a bold hip. It’s no mistake that he is in the top 1% of the breed for weaning weight EPD. His mother is a herd favorite herself, from a highly productive cow family. She has sold sons to Brett Heinrichs and Janice Miller and she raised a pen favorite daughter who sold bulls to Lorne Smart and Al Cloet.
A Potent son that has a strong top and long spine. He is deep red and heavy haired and has that big square hip that we strive to produce. The 3 Potent sons in this sale look to be more than adequate for scrotal development. It’s an added bonus that he is out of a Hard Rock cow, we always wish we had more. She has had 3 male calves, all bulls that sold through this sale – one to Ty Dewitz, one to Ben Caines and this son. Of the 2 daughters she’s raised, we sold one to Ben Heide and kept the other in our herd.
HOMO POLLED
A stout made, deep red bull. His dam is a big barreled, Captain Blaze daughter that has a perfect udder. She sold a son to Shannon Mullin in our 2021 OPT sale.
This fella has been a pen favorite from weaning time, he’s a bull with a ton of character and poise. His deep red hair coat makes for an attractive package. His EPDs are excellent across the board, and he ranked 1st in his contemporary group for adjusted weaning and yearling weight as well as for ADG and WPDA. He is out of a direct Doll daughter, a cow we flushed extensively in the past. She is a flushmate to the dam of Crossroad Connect, who has really made a name for himself. She has been a no miss cow that milks well and always raises the good ones. Her sons have been marketed to Andrew Brigden, Wayne Heinrichs, Gilles Le Gault, OKS Simmentals, Al Cloet, Zach Hainstock, W & C Jackson and Jim Nichol. She sold a daughter through the PTSA sale to Wilcox Simmentals as well as we have kept numerous daughters in our herd, including the dam of Lot 55 and Lot 69.
A very square made, soggy bull, he is as deep red as you can make them, big hipped with a soft made middle. He has an attractive head and neck that transitions into a smooth shoulder. He strides well and hits his holes every time. I think the combination of Lethal Dose and Ripcord have hit a home run here. His dam is a moderate framed cow that goes back to the MRL 727W cow that has made a really nice cow family here at PLCC. In the 2021 OPT bull sale, all of the members of this cow family had bulls that sold in the bull sale.
A strong topped bull with added performance for a low birth weight bull. His EPDs are truly curve bending and are above average from top to bottom . This is his dam’s second calf and she looks to be a low birth weight cow (average of 78 lbs) that has bred well with Lethal Dose. She has a nice square udder that will have lots of longevity. Her son last year sold to Eric Whitfield through this sale. The new owner of this bull will be very happy with the offspring whether they are replacement females or male calves.

Well here is the pen topper when it comes to growth. This above average framed bull boasts the top 1% of the breed for WW and YW growth traits, and it’s no wonder with the combination of Roosevelt and El Tigre. This El Tigre cow is a hard working, moderate cow that keeps producing the good ones. She has sold females to Larry Rhodes and Patrick Johnson as well as a son to Dickson Farms. Don’t miss a bull that will undoubtedly make you money if you sell your calves by the pound.
HOMO POLLED
For this guy, we dug deep in the embryo drawer and pulled out a pretty good genetic combination of Godfather and the old KOP 110W flush cow. Look for this bull to produce thick, beefy females and males alike that will be stout, easy fleshing and productive. The 110W cow has sold sons to Brian Johannesson, David Ives, Greg Fraser, Jayshaw Simmentals and Cactus Acres and females to Richard Unrau, Kopp Farms and Gerry Dousselaere, as well as replacements that we’ve kept.
HOMO POLLED
A really nice square made red blaze faced bull who will just be a year of age at the sale. He comes from a cow family that adds a bit of extra punch to their calves while still keeping them moderate. If you are looking to add some hip and a few blaze faces to a calf crop, here is a top quality candidate.

I have been excited about this bull since the day he was born. The Captain Blaze females are passing on their short gestations and with the combination of Triple Play’s breed leading calving ease, this bull should be a heifer breeding phenom. 910H is a daughter of Captain Blaze and has that beautiful Blaze type of udder – square, good spacing with small teats. She calved with her first calf, this bull, at 280 days and has just had her second calf, a Loyalty son at 280 days as well. Triple Play has proven to be a fantastic calving ease sire that we will continue to use. 2010K is in the top 1% for calving ease, top 3% for birth weight, top 35% for milk and an unbelievable top 1% for maternal calving ease. With all this calving ease he is still above breed average for growth traits and ranked 3rd in his contemporary group for adjusted weaning and yearling weight. Phenotypically, 2010K has an ideal small head and smooth shoulder and he’s big bellied and soft made. This calving ease bull has a big future ahead of him. We will look to use some semen from him in our heifer pen this spring (PLCC retains the right to draw 50 straws at our expense).

A square, stout black bull that came in dam from a Mader Ranch’s heifer that we purchased last year. He has fantastic electric hair with a big square butt and is a stylish bull that has nice shape and presence.

An Epic son that would be an excellent calving ease bull on your second calvers or if you are looking for some calving ease in your cow herd. He has great calving ease EPDs yet is still in the top 10% and 15% for weaning and yearling weight EPDs respectively. His mother is one of our beautiful IPU Bentley 81F daughters retained in our herd. They all have perfect udders and are good tempered easy doing cows. Our 2 Bentley daughters at our PTSA sale this past fall averaged $15,000 and further to that, his daughters were some of the high sellers from other herds across Canada.

53K is a pretty cool calving ease package. His sire is a Triple Play son that was a high seller in a past sale that we sampled last year. Like other bulls in our pen, he has tremendous calving ease and maternal calving ease numbers. With a gestation of 281 days (the dam’s average gestation is 278 days), I believe this bull has a lot of future in a progressive herd.

Every year we like to sample some new calving ease bulls. When our friends at Mader Ranches purchased CMS Logic, we inquired about a semen package. This dark red baldy calving ease bull was an outcross pedigree to ours and many herds so we thought we should use him. 4721K is a tidy black bull that is really hard to pick a hole in. He moves very well on a square base, he has an attractive head with good neck extension and a smooth shoulder. We are anticipating big things from his dam, she is an ideal Captain Blaze daughter out of the Doll cow family. She raised on of our top heifers last year that we kept in our herd. If you are a numbers junkie, let’s start with his 77 lbs birth weight. He’s top 10% for calving ease EPD, top 2% for birth weight EPD and don’t overlook the top 10% for maternal calving ease EPD, a trait that the Blaze daughters have in spades. This bull will be an asset to your program, sleep easy calving and make sure to keep every daughter.

61K is a smaller framed beef machine. His mother is a hard working, moderate framed, low birth weight female that we bought at the PTSA sale but goes back to a cow we originally raised. This bull has great shape and wicked hair and a very balanced set of EPDs with an emphasis on calving ease.

A son of our Erixon bull, he is long spined and smooth made. His mother is a cow that we really admire, she is a powerful big ribbed cow. Her only other son was a sale topper in 2021 and sold to Al Cloet and her daughter last year was one of the best in the pen. Don’t pass up on this bull, he will have just had his birthday at sale time and is sure to be an excellent breeder later this spring. He has loads of calving ease and his EPDs are excellent for birth, growth, milk and maternal calving ease. He ranked very well for weaning and yearling weight against his contemporaries.

175K is another March born bull, but a herd bull in the making. His dam sold a bull to Colin Hummel and a full sib bred heifer to Lil Chicks Cattle Co, who was one of our top heifers that year. We have also kept one of her daughters in our herd, who is turning out to be a great producer.

If you are looking for a long bodied black baldy bull, this will be a top quality candidate. A son of our half Fleck, homo polled, red blaze faced herdsire Blue. He sires early maturing, square hipped bulls and fertile, functional females. It is no surprise this bull is good as his granddam is one of our top Hard Rock cows who has produced some of our best bulls over the years. The Hot Iron cows are low maintenance, no fuss cows that will have longevity in our herd. His dam has had 2 daughters, one that sold through the PTSA sale for $10,000 to Lazy MC Angus and the other was the best in the pen that we showed successfully and then retained in our herd.

To say we are fans of SVS Brooks is an understatement around here. We initially purchased a semen pack with the intention of raising fantastic females, but the bulls have not disappointed and here’s one that we really like. Blood red, heavy haired, adequate bone, big footed and style to burn. His dam - RXR 3F a great uddered, big ribbed cow - is a maternal sister to RXR 19B, so this is a cow family we regard highly. RXR 30K‘s full brother (Huckleberry Finn) is working the heifer pen at Oakview Simmentals and doing an admirable job with sons in this sale.

A sharp looking Skors Blaze bull that may be the stoutest made and biggest ribbed bull in the pen out of one of our favourite cow families with tons of hair and great disposition.
