Ontario Simmental Solution Sale :: SALE RESULTS 2022

Welcome to this year’s Ontario Simmental Solution Sale. It’s hard to believe this will be the fifth sale. This year’s sale will be the largest group of females sold. A huge thank you to all our sponsors for the sale, please support them back! Thank you to all the consignors and welcome to a few new consignors. To the bidders, it is all of you that has made this sale a success in past. As things are starting to get back to a normal we are happy to have a live auction and for those unable to attend DLMS will be available. For this years offering, there will be bred and open heifers, cows, and some frozen genetics. The consignors have consigned a wide variety of Simmental genetics, all of consignors will back up their consignments, so feel rest assured. All the animals will be preg checked prior to the sale and updates will be provided prior to the sale. Video’s (if available) will be added to the Ontario Simmental Solution facebook, watch it for the updates.

The Bohrson Marketing, team welcomes you to the fifth annual Ontario Simmental Solution Sale - an event which comes with a rich history of excellent consignments. This sale errupts with Fleckvieh power and influence, but also includes some fullblood, embryo and semen opportunities.

We always look forward to this sale as this group of folks are the salt of the earth. Aspen is a polled total power-house Deebran Ford daughter with all the intricate positive features of becoming a tremendous momma cow and still be able to show off that traditional Simmental style. Paige is out of our BHR Three Sixes daughter and DFM Marcus and has exemplified the positive traits of both families. She is a smooth, easy doing, goggle eyed, moderately framed heifer out of a 2-year-old mom. Posh went through this sale on choice with her twin sister who was purchased by Carl & Cheryl Russwurm, and she returned home with us to produce Paige. We would have loved to keep Paige, but you can’t keep them all so she if being offered in the sale. A Guerrero baby out of her will be an exciting cross.

Lillie is another of our Ford daughters (unfortunately horned) going back to the Jack Pine Heidi cow family that has been the backbone of our herd for many years. She is missing the goggles, but is an extremely long spined heifer and given the way the Guerrero calves look, those goggles will come, and the horns may go, if that’s your thing.

When Helga arrived, she was going to be our keeper as we don’t usually have much luck in getting heifers out of our planned matings. Her dam is a pedigree loaded with bull power, plus the added maternal power of Heidi to start if all off. We were fortunate enough to get another Heger heifer calf in the fall group of calvers so are including Helga in our sale offering. She carries the volume, length and depth of body of her dam, and although maybe a tad higher in frame score, is developing into an outstanding individual. Jeanie is again one of our Deebran Ford daughters that missed the “paint booth”. For us these are the markings of the true Simmental. She is also the youngest heifer in the offering and maybe gives up a little in frame score, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Other than colour pattern, she is a typical easy doing

Joanne is a little different pedigree. We purchased FGAF Windsurfer semen a few years ago. She is a little lighter then the rest but we can’t fault her for that. Joanne’s dam is the mother of Deebran Classic. Looking for an animal that will give you longevity, this will be the one. We purchased a semen lot from KSL Simmentals, Keet’s Ferrous, AI to Keet’s Ferrous on March 12 and confirmed to that breeding by Kirkton Vet.

When something isn’t broken why fix it! Jean is a full sister to a heifer that was in last year’s sale, selling to Suzanne and Kevin Bovey. The sire Allm Collossal has made a lot of great females. This Razzmatazz cow just keeps producing for us, by far the best investment cow we have ever purchased from Anchor D. Jean has all the characteristics you want in a future cow.

We purchased Jeana’s dam from Ferme Gagnon at their sale in 2019. She was second high selling lot for Ferme Gagnon, we call her Wonder woman and what a wonderful job she has done. Jeana is sire verified and heterozygous polled. When Jaxon walked through the heifers he kept admiring her, as a couple good friends have said to us you have to send the good ones. Well here she is! With Raptor and Jahari this heifer will stand out in anyone’s herd. Her half sister sold last year to the MacDonalds.

Well the wait is over, the first Anchor D Gibraltar heifers are here! What a way to start them off, Deebran Classic has put a sale heifer in every sale thus far, she is probably one of best producing cows. Jayla is dark red and just like her mom and will produce great calves for years to come. Classic’s heifer sold to R & W Farms last year.

Java is the only bred female going back to Dee’s bull Deebran D Kinsman, he is still going strong at Dee’s place at 10 years old. He bred a few cows for us this year again and we are hoping for females in 2023. Her dam is known as Boots around here and is 11 years old. Stella is a moderate chunk of a heifer that was not leaving but after numerous requests that she be in the sale, here she is!! Sired by Knox Benz and back to Heller on the dam’s side makes her outcross genetics to most herds. Check out her dam’s productivity and fertility, it’s tough to beat! She raised Stella and her twin sister as a first calver, born November 15,bumped up to calve another heifer on October 10th last year and already calved this year on August 6th. Non dilutor.

Its always nice to get a heifer calf when you want a heifer calf and when Harmony was born and born a heifer we were thrilled. Harmony will mature into a big framed, easy on the eyes and heavy milking female. Congrats to Ivan and Grace for raising her dam who puts it all into her calves and they wean off heavy. I bought this young lady’s dam from Brad Snider at this sale in 2019 and unfortunately she lost her 1st calf 2 months early. Even though she was a purebred I intentionally bred her back to the Fullblood bull Guerrero to help with the calving ease and milk a little better. If you study EPD’s you can see it worked. Hailey is a sweetheart and like her mother”Fudge” she is red through and through. I did the same thing last yr breeding Fudge to the full fleck bull Doralee Equinox and got a beautiful blaze faced heifer who is growing nicely and will be a front pasture heifer. I bought Josie’s mother as a bred 2 yr old from the Stars of the Valley Simmental sale in Ottawa. She was 1 of the high sellers that day and had a bit more of the traditional broken colour pattern and that’s what drew me to her. When I got her home she settled in right away and produced a nice heifer calf. Josie is an easy keeper-no fuss no muss with a real quiet disposition. She won’t be the biggest but she will still grow as she’s the youngest of my offering in the sale set to calve at just over 24 months. This heifer is out of our fall program. Her dam and maternal sister are always farm favorites with visitors. We strive for very low maintenance cattle so our fall group winters out in a cedar bush with no extra comforts. She is going to be a moderate framed powerhouse of a female as she matures. Her dam is a half sister to Carew’s Adze and her bloodlines trace back to the LHY 6X cow and the OTL 17Z bull of which both of left their mark on our program.

This heifer is out of our son’s cow. The dam is always the first one to greet Dave at the gate for a pet and is extremely quiet and easy to work with. She is a smaller framed cow but raises an excellent calf every year which is almost as big as her come weaning time. The grand dam, Delta Rho Kit Kat is one of the main blood lines in our herd. We sell very few heifers out of this line (Sullivan Simmentals purchased the only one at the 2021 sale) however Dave and Jill grudgingly decided to part with this one.

This heifer is out of a very good BBBG Braddock sired cow. We have retained most of her daughters in herd with all of them being very deep, long cows. Jewel is out of one of my favourite cows. Her dam is not my biggest cow but one I think is one of my best. Many good cattleman soon spot her and agree, but the better part is she produces good ones. Her bull calf this year, full brother to sale heifer is top of our group of bull calves. This heifer was scurred but was dehorned by mistake so is to be registered horned. She is very quiet, too quiet to picture well, tie broke, dark red and is a bit of a pet (good or bad).

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable in Canadian funds at par immediately following the sale. The right of ownership shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made before any livestock will be released.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: After settlement has been made the buyer will ber provided with the proper registration papers, duly transferred on the record of the Canadian Simmental Association. Further transfer to the herd books of other countries shall be at the buyer’s expense.

DELIVERY: Delivery will be the responsibility of the buyer and the buyer’s risk.

FLECKVIEH STATUS: Full Fleckvieh will be considered as fullblood cattle tracing back to a minimum of 5 generations of German or Austrian heritage. It is reccomended if further research is required to check with the Canadian Simmental Association and no assumption of Fleckvieh heritage will be guaranteed by neither consignor or the CSA.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE: Standard terms set forth by the Canadian Simmental Association, with the exception where any animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the gurantee shall be null and void.

ACCIDENTS: Athough every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales staff, auctioneer, or consignors assume any responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.
