Welcome

from BOHRSON MARKETING SERVICES

On behalf of the consignors and Bohrson marketing welcome to the OPT Female Sale. I am confident that this sale will be as well received as it was last year on its first go. The reason is simple, great functional cattle with outstanding producers that back their product. When I buy an animal from these producers I buy with confidence and you can too. I Know from past experience that they have gone through a very rigorous culling process, if the heifer acts out in the chute…she’s out of the sale, if she’s bred a bit too late…shes out. This culling process is done in many intervals. If there happens to be an unforeseen incident they deal with it speedily and efficiently in a professional manner. I believe all three consignors are respected and well liked in the cattle industry. Great, hardworking, honest people who bring the best product thats available.

This year I asked each of them individually what heifer was their favourite. They had a hard time narrowing it down, but a couple lot numbers came to the forefront, but it also had a mix. I think that having multiple lots making the list speaks to how deep this offering is.

Most of this years offering is purebred cattle with close to 20% being Fullblood. Oakview is very proud of their FullBlood offering and they should be. A sale feature would be a special heifer that comes from their flush cow 13D, this heifer is bound to catch the attention of most everyone, don’t miss her! The Oakview pure breds will be mostly Homo pulled and be a nice mix of power and calving ease. All heifers are bred to proven calving ease bulls, again buy with confidence. Todd and Danna have a huge following of commercial buyers that continue to purchase females yearly. They haven’t forgotten about you, again they’ve included a small hand picked group of top quality females for you to choose from. They also come with all the breeding info, which is awesome.

Perkin Land and Cattle are bringing a well rounded group of females from many different herd sires, so there is a good chance you can incorporate some new genetics into your herd. I can tell you that most of their heifers are bred to an awesome bull, BEE Omega 119L. They are thrilled with his calves that they have off him now. Lol, when I asked for a list from Darryl, he included half of them and said,”All these are pretty good”. Pretty deep offering I’d say! In his defence, their program has really increased in depth the past 12 years.

I told the crew at Triple R that their feedback would remain confidential. I lied..just kidding, it will. Although they had a couple different ones in the top 3, one heifer made the top on every list. You’ll have to come find her! The Triple R herd is not a big one but boy do they produce! Much like the Triple R gang, the cows go out and work hard. The SVS Brooks 669D bull has had a huge impact on this herd. Many of the heifers are either direct daughters or granddaughters of this Awesome bull. His daughters are some of my favourite cows, do yourself a favor and get one.

The sale is at the picturesque Oakview Simmentals farm site. Punch that into google maps and drive straight there. Hope to see you on sale day. If you can’t make it, please call any of us at Bohrson Marketing and utilize our free and discreet order buying service.

welcome from Oakview

Simmentals

Welcome to the 2nd annual OPT female sale. We are proud of the uniform group of 43 heifers that we have entered into this year’s sale. The offering truly represents everything we do here at Oakview. There is a great selection of red purebred heifers, thick fullbloods, a couple embryos and even some top end commercial heifers to pick from. No matter when you calve from January to March there are a great selection of heifers to fit into your program. We have worked hard to provide something for all of our customers and really do believe that these heifers are “Bred for Success”.

All heifers were preg checked in the end of May to date pregnancies and then re-checked in the fall. They have received their fall vaccines as well as their first shot of Scour Bos. Feel free to stop by anytime to see them prior to the sale, watch for their videos to be posted on DLMS, give us a call to discuss which will fit your needs, or even better, join us on sale day for a delicious lunch and take in the sale in person.

Carhartt left a huge impact in our herd in a few short years that we walked him. He added a softness to his progeny, lots of depth and an undeniable identifying hair coat. Magnolia is a heifer with calving ease and high milking potential bred deep into her. Her dam Charade has always been an easy fleshing female that holds condition even when she’s working hard to bring home calves that stand at the top of the pen.

welcome from Land and Cattle Co. Perkin

First of all I would like to congratulate all of my fellow cattlemen and women on being in the business for these unprecedented times. It is finally nice to see a time when we can say we are getting a great price for feeder calves. It is long overdue, as we all know the cattle business takes tremendously hard work. Hold your head high, be proud of the animals you produce and support each other. This new market plateau is just a starting spot for a resurgence of the cattle herd.

We are excited for the second edition of the OPT Bred for Success sale. We were more than overwhelmed with the support we received in our first edition. I have received many excellent reports for the females that were sold. We take great pride in offering highly productive functional females.

Many of our consignments this year are again bred AI and naturally to BEE Omega 119L. Let me tell you, the calves from his first breeding season look outstanding. They are square hipped and stout, the heifers have a feminine presence and are sure to make nice cows. We look forward to having a sample of them at the sale next year.

We continue to work with the professional staff and management from Bohrson Marketing. They are a first class operation that can represent you at our sale if you are unable to attend. We would love to have every bidder in the stands but understand time commitments and distance play a factor in everyone’s lives. Don’t let that hold you back. Bid with DLMS.ca or give one of the BMS team a call.
