Page 1

Welcome from Bohrson Marketing Services

Welcome to the 22nd annual Northern Classic Bull Sale. Once again the McQuaig’s of JayDawn Farms and the Klassen’s of Willow Creek Simmentals have assembled a quality set of Simmental, Charolais, Angus and SimAngus bulls for your appraisal and we are proud to invite you on behalf of them all and our team at BMS to their 2025 offering. The sale is once again held at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, indoors making it a comfortable spot to view the bulls. March 7th 2025 will mark an exciting day for cattle producers to sort through an extremely diverse set of bulls from two exciting operations that always have their customers best interest in mind. Both JayDawn & Willow Creek put a huge emphasis on building around the mother cow with structural correctness, feet and udders at the forefront of selection. They both annually source the very best walking bulls available in each breed and utilize some of the real exciting bulls in the industry via artificial insemination. They do so many of the little and big things right to make your herd bull selections an easy process. Every bull is bred, raised and selected for the bull sale with the same list of “must haves” as their own herd bull battery. Bulls that have the ability to transmit feed, bulls with growth and performance that do not sacrifice maternal characteristics is what you will find at the Northern Classic. Of course many of you reading this will already know as we are always so impressed with the amount of familiar faces and repeat customers that choose to do business and buy their bulls through this sale and with these great operations. There truly is no better time to be a cow/calf producer and just want to remind you that the bulls you buy today could still very well produce the highest selling calves you will ever produce with the record low cow numbers across North America, so be sure to study the catalog in depth and make sure you source some genetics that best suit your programs and your needs. Whether you are in search of a Simmental of any colour, a Charolais, an Angus or a SimAngus, the options will be endless on March 7th and we can’t stress the quality here enough. Be sure to give anyone listed from either program a call to discuss their bulls and how they can best suit your needs. They are knowledgeable cattle folk that would love to hear from you. Be sure to join us for some great hospitality and a stellar set of bulls on sale day. If you are unable to join, don’t hesitate to contact any of us listed from BMS to get a free evaluation and consultation on the bulls. We would be happy to represent your absentee bidding and buying needs. We look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,

The Bohrson Marketing Team

EPD EXPLAINATION

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD incorporate the individual animal with it’s ancestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance aboce or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously. One of several selection tools.

We are honored to have the following sale staff that is available to help you in a confidential manner with bidding if you cannot make the sale or need assistance. Darryl & Riley with Bohrson Marketing, Yancy, Dean & Mark from VJV Auctions and Marty with North Central Livestock Exchange. Again we will be offering online bidding thru DLMS, videos of the bulls will be posted on Cattlevids.com prior to the sale. It really is hard to believe that another year has come and gone, time seems to fly by faster and faster the older I get. As I sit and reflect on 2024 and review all the up’s and down’s we encountered thru the year. In Teepee Creek rainfall was limited only receiving just over 7 inches of rain May thru the end of September and receiving lots of record setting days for temperatures that dried everything out. We were lucky enough to get up enough feed thru silage we just kept chopping the cereal crops till we had enough, some people were not so lucky to do so and either had to reduce cattle numbers or buy some really expensive feed. On the plus side of things we managed to spend some family time at the lake with our kids and really good friends. Our middle son Kris officially made Cera & Parker part of the McQuaig family with a wedding in August. Jordan and Brittany gifted the McQuaig family with another boy Kayden the end of October, making that our 5th grandchild. Harvest went quick as the yields were light as we moved into fall we seen the cattle market move higher and higher which has been a long time coming for the cattle producers, lets just hope that it remains this way as right now with these record prices it’s a good time to be in the cattle business. We finished off the year with a big family Christmas at the Teepee Creek hall where most of the McQuaig family along with my mom and her kids, great grandkids and great great grandkids attended with 47 of us there. We are really lucky to have our family all so close by and enjoy these good times together. Mom still lives on the farm, still helps out when she can which we are so thankful for. We are really lucky to have our kids all help out on the farm when we need them. We live in an area where we have some of the best neighbours and friends who will come and help out in a heartbeat so thankyou to all of you your help is much appreciated. Our calving female numbers are down some this year due to some bull troubles and open rates in the heifer pen. We currently are calving out about 200 cows this year of Red, black & Fullblood Simmentals and Charolais. We are constantly on the hunt to obtain the best genetics possible thru purchasing top end herdbulls or semen packs to move our program ahead. We also run a group of commercial cows in which we use as receips for our embryo program and then cross breed the Simmental & Charolais genetics to give us those sought after buckskin calves that top the market. This years bull pen I feel is strong as every ever, there is a real good selection of bulls to meet just about everyone’s needs. We have calving ease, performance driven and bulls that excel maternally or a combination of all these put together for you to select from. The bulls are pastured on their mothers till mid September when we weaned we then introduced a creep ration and hay to get thru the weaning stage till end of October. We then switched the bulls to a TMR silage ration of Oats and Barley silage along with rolled barley and again this year we used the Bullseye Supplement to balance the nutritional needs and vitamin package. The ration we have these bulls on allows for proper growth development and longevity of the animal. One thing for sure you won’t find that these bulls have not been pushed and don’t that “Greasy” appearance to them that a lot of the sale bulls have. They should be able to go out and get breeding as soon as you need them. You will find the dispositions on our bulls really good as we cull extensively for bad dispositions, we are a completely hands on operation with the cattle so good natured animals is a must. Our sale offers a unique payment plan option of ½ down sale day with the other ½ due Nov 1, 2025 interest free with a post dated cheque, free delivery in the Peace County. Our JayDawn bulls carry the Guarantee if your not happy then neither are we call us up if there is a problem and we will get it resolved, we also carry spare bulls at home to help out if a wreck happens to make sure your cows get bred.

Ourselves along with our good friends from the Klassen crew would personally like to invite you to the 22nd Northern Classic bull sale on March 7th down at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie to start at 1pm, if you can not make the sale you can view and bid online thru DLMS.ca or call one of the sale staff or anyone listed in the catalogue for assistance. We hope to see you at the sale! Jaydawn Farms

This Boomer son gets the chance to lead off our bull sale catalogue for 2025. He has been a favourite from day one as he always had that little extra eye appeal to him. Extra frame, extra length and we know what that adds up to is extra pounds. He is very smooth made with a nice head and front end for calving ease. He ranks in the top 10 percent of the breed for both weaning and yearling weights. His dam is an excellent footed easy doing cow that has nice small teats, she is very fertile and always calves in the first cycle. If you are looking to add some frame and length to your calf crop and producing some top notch females then look to this bull to get you there

15M patterns the 5M very similar, extra frame extra length and super smooth made. He is super nice fronted with a real nice head and should produce calves that are born easy. This bull is backed by a very maternal cow family that is really good footed with superb udders. 328A is super fertile and has calved on first cycle every year., if you are looking to keep replacements then look to this bull to supply your needs. We have walked sons of the 328A cow family and they have met all of our needs. Check out his weaning and yearling epd’s as he ranks in the top 3 and 2% for both of these within the breed.

Sire: RF Boomer

Here is a very stout made son of Boomer, super moderate and super thick in a very complete package. He ranks in the top 10 percent of the breed for both weaning and yearling weights, he will produce a real nice set of steers and females that you will want to put back in your herd. His dam is a young rampage female that has a real nice square tidy udder with small teats. This bull will work in a variety of programs.

30M is out of MRL El Tigre a bull that we used heavy a few years back with great success. When we mated 766E to El Tigre we were hoping for a female as the Broker El Tigre cross really clicked for us. His dam is a big framed female with an excellent udder and feet and is a cow family that has been around for a long time at JayDawn. 30M himself is a big stretchy long smooth made bull that is very correct in his makeup he ranks in the top 15 percent for both weaning and yearling weights within the breed. Those bigger framed calves that are long made really weigh up in the fall which means more dollars in your pocket.

Sire: MRL Rl Tigre

42M is a big powerful made individual that has a very wide top and is thick made through the hind quarters. This bull is very correct in his makeup and has a ton of hair. He has been a pasture and pen favourite all along, he is very easy to find in the bull pen. His dam is a black baldy female that goes back to some fullblood genetics that have been around JayDawn along time as well. She has a real nice udder and is very easy to be around. This bull will leave you excellent steers and a set of females that will be at the top end of your pen.

These pair of Game Face bulls are very similar in their makeup. Long bodied huge top and lots of rear quarter to them. 4M also has a ton of hair and is very structurally correct. He will be easy to find in the sale pen and has had lots of admirers all summer. His dam 102J is a young Bentley female that has a very bright future ahead of her here at JayDawn, she produced a very good NightHawk son that sold in last years sale to Barry and Karen Strid and now this Game Face son proving that she can produce. She has a perfect udder and really good feet, the Mattie females are super fertile and their dispositions are second to none. Don’t miss out on this bull you will be super happy with his offspring.

Maternal Brother: JDF 343L
Sire: LFE Game Face

Here is the only Bentley bull we have on offer this year, and he has definitely been a pen favourite all year. This bull is so much like his sire at this age he is super stout and super soggy made with a ton of hair. He is so easy doing and has a real calm disposition. His dam is out of the Riddler bull who left us with some awesome females, she has a real nice udder with tons of milk and really good feet. She too has a gentle disposition and is very fertile. This bull will work on a variety of cows he will be easy to find sale day.

70M deserves to start off this section of PayDay sons, his sire 96G is out of the VooDoo bull that we walked and the 328a Fortune cow. This cow family is backed by perfect udders, really good feet, and are super fertile cows. The VooDoo bull himself and the 96G bull known around here as PayDay had extra frame, extra length and a ton of natural muscling. 70M is one of the younger bulls in the pen but is easily found in the bull pen. He reminds me a lot of 96G at this age, really soft made and deep sided with a ton of hair. He gets out and moves very freely on excellent feet and legs. He ranks in the top 15 and 10 percent in the breed for weaning and yearling weights. His dam is another Riddler cow that gets picked out on pasture tours, really nice udder and very complete in her makeup. The more you analyze this bull the more you will like him, he can be used on a variety of cows with excellent results.

Sire: JDF Voodoo 96G (PayDay)
Sire: IPU Bentley

64M is another PayDay son that is a pen favourite, super long made with some extra frame to him. He is very correct in his make up and will give you those calves that push down hard on the scale in the fall. His dam stems from the great Pepsi cow family and the Bentley bull, she has a perfect udder and is very stout in her makeup. The Pepsi cows are known for their fertility and raising big calves each and every year.

56M is another PayDay son that is very complete in his makeup, moderate made with a ton of hair. This bull has calving ease built into his pedigree, his dam is out of the Odin bull that we used with great success in the heifer pen. Odin left us with an awesome set of females to put back into the herd, they were moderate in structure, had perfect udders and have made excellent cows.

Here is a super thick made bull that is real soggy made. He is deep sided and very stout when you get behind him. He is out of a Pepsi/ Riddler cow that has been a solid producer for us, finally giving us a heifer this year to carry on her lineage. We are calving out the PayDay heifers for a second year now, they have really nice udders and are proving that they can produce with the mature females in the herd. This bull will give you some heavy weight steers in the fall and some excellent females to put back in the herd.

KENCO/MF

65M is another PayDay /Bentley cross, super long and smooth made with a ton of hair. Nick Named Scar face around here due to his unique markings on his face, he will be easy to find sale day. His dam is another typical Bentley daughter that is moderate made with a really nice udder. She stems from the Scarlette cow family that have been real solids producers for us.

Here is a real easy doing son of PayDay, moderate in his structure and very soft sided. He too has a ton of hair and is very complete in his makeup. His dam is another Odin cow that has a perfect udder and feet, Odin was used in our heifer pen with excellent results and left us with some excellent females. This bull has calving ease, performance and maternal all wrapped up in one package and will give you trouble free calving.

41M is a long smooth made son of PayDay, he is very deep sided and has a ton of hair. These PayDay sons are nice headed and have smooth front ends which gives you ease of calving. His dam is out of Rampage a bull we used through ai in the heifer pen with some excellent results. He sired females that have been some real solid producers for us over the years. They have excellent udders and have a ton of milk and that fits his dam 945G to a T. Again combining calving ease genetics along with the performance of PayDay these PayDay sons will work in a variety of programs.

KENCO/MF

22M starts off this section of calving ease bulls sire by Night Hawk 40G. 40G worked extremely well in our program when it came to calving first calf heifers. Not only did he calve extremely well, he also produced offspring that grew rapid and had a ton of hair. 22M himself born at 88 lbs and weaned off at 780 lbs with no creep, pretty good for a first calf heifer. He is super long and smooth made and has a real tidy head and nice front end. This bull should calve extremely well and give you calves that still weigh up in the fall. His dam is out of the Rebecca cow family that is known for excellent feet, good udders with lots of milk and bringing in top end calves each fall.

Here is a bull that will garner some attention sale day as he has all year long. This bull has some extra chrome to him, if you study his pedigree he has some Fleckvieh influence back on the dam side from the PRL Unlimited bull that we walked for a few years. Unlimited left us some awesome females in which we still have a few left in herd working at the age of 13 this spring, they have never had feet touched and still have really good udders. 24M himself is a long smooth made bull and is really deep sided. His dam is a first calver sired by 96G the PayDay bull who left us with some awesome replacements. Good udders, good feet and fertile cow families that raise big calves are stacked throughout this pedigree. 24M will sire a fancy set of calves to take to town and give you a pen of replacements that you will be proud to own.

28M is another calving ease bull that gets to highlight the Night Hawk sons as he also has been a pen favourite all year long. Super hairy, very correct in his structure this bull will easily be found in the pen come sale day. He too is also out of a 96G PayDay daughter, they are proving they can produce calving un assisted, weaning off big calves and breeding right back to calve in January. These Night Hawk son will give you peace of mind at calving and you will reap the rewards in the fall when your cows wean off some big calves. He will take all the horns off and give you all black calves. You just might want to keep his daughters as he is backed by some of the best cow families on the farm.

47M is a super stout made son of the NightHawk bull that will have some friends come sale day. He too has been a standout since birth and you have to appreciate his stoutness from every angle you look at him from. Big middle and deep sided yet has a real nice front on him. Out of 239K a black baldy female with a real nice udder proving that she can produce right off the hop weaning this guy off at 800 lbs, pretty darn good for a first calver. She stems back to the 711E cow a big beautiful Riddler cow that is a farm favorite. These Night Hawk sons will leave you with a tremendous set of calves without sacrificing calving ease, if you calve on the grass they sure will work for you.

Maternal Grandsire: WJS Trail Blazer
Sire: Night Hawk 40G

Any of these Night Hawk sons could have started off this group of calving ease bulls. Here is a real stout made bull that is chalked right full of muscle for a calving ease bull. As you analyze this group of Night Hawks one can see why we liked this sire group so much, they are such a consistent group of bulls. Never before have we used a calving ease bull that stamps them this good. Out of a Tycoon daughter that has a really nice udder weaning off over 800 lbs on her first go. These Night Hawk bulls will flat out work on just about any program.

We could have wrote one comment pretty much for any of these Night Hawk sons, 68M is your typical Night Hawk son. Super smooth yet stout made with a ton of hair. He is really nice headed and has a super smooth front end built for calving ease. His young Bentley dam is moderate in structure with a real nice square udder with small teats. This group of calving ease bulls is as consistent as they come, you will have your work cut out to pick out which you like the best.

Here is the youngest bull in the offering and he sure stands in with the rest of the pen. I really like the overall smoothness and length in this bull. Nice small head and super nice fronted best describes 81M. He is your typical Night Hawk son extra hairy and a docile nature. His dam is a moderate made Rampage daughter with a really nice udder. Being Hetero Black he will give you both red and black calves. This is our last set of Night Hawk calves as we lost him to injury, he will be tough to replace.

LFE TRIUMPH 816A
LFE TRIUMPH 816A

JayDawn and Willow Creek would like personally thank Dan for keeping us on track, and to the Beck Family for helping us out with Clerking at the sale your help is muchly appreciated.

Here is a mid February bull that has been a standout right from day one. Super thick, super stout with a ton of middle to him. Super soggy made with a ton of hair, he is backed by one of my favorite Bentley 2nd calvers. She is moderate with a ton of capacity and has a real nice udder. Backed by the Fortune cow family who is known for their maternal traits and being some of our best producers. Her first son sold in last years sale to one of the Peace Country’s top producers Simon Lowen up at Prespatou. This bull ranks in the top 5% for weaning weight and the top 3% for yearling weights within the breed. He will mature into one impressive herdbull.

80M is one of the younger bulls in the pen yet he stands in there with the rest. Long and smooth made this bull also is stamped with the Hawkeye hair coat…Lots of it. This bull is closely related to the 73M bull as their dams are both trace back to the 328A cow. Excellent udders, excellent feet and super fertile is what this cow family is all about. Again this bull ranks in the top 3% for weaning weight and the top 1% for yearling weight within the breed. If you are looking to add some performance and growth to your calf crop without sacrificing calving ease then 80M just might fit the bill. Keep his daughters they will make excellent cows

Maternal Brother: JDF 26L
Maternal Grandsire: LFE The Riddler

Hawkeye sure stamped all his calves with a ton of hair, they are super soggy made and loose hided. 8M has been one of the favorites all year in the red division, he is super tanky with a ton of middle. He is so easy doing and has so much natural thickness to him. His dam is a super stout red baldy female that just gets the job done year after year. Maternal brothers to 8M have sold to some of Northern Alberta’s top cow herds, Melburn Holdings 2019, Keith Wilson 2021 and Gregoire Farms in 2023. 8M will be easy to find sale day, he will produce a set of calves that you will be proud to take to town.

62M is a bigger framed bull that is super long made, he is super deep sided and is very smooth made. His dam is a big beautiful red baldy that has a real nice square udder with excellent teat size and placement which is very consistent in the Frosty cow family which stems back to the Kimlake cow herd. If you are looking to get more frame into your calves which means heavier pay weights come fall then look to 62M to get the job done.

Sire: JDF Hawkeye 59K
JDF 8M

Here is another son of Hawkeye, stamped with the Hawkeye hair coat. 76M is probably one of the deepest sided bulls in the pen. He too is super long made and is soggy made. He is one of the younger bulls in the pen but stands right in there. His dam is a young red baldy female that is sired by Wallbanger a bull that you will see in a lot of pedigrees in the Simmental herdbook. She has a perfect square udder with real nice tidy teats. This bull will sire a tremendous set of calves that you will be proud to take to town in the fall.

I really could have written one comment for these Hawkeye sons in the red division, they all are very similar in type. Super hairy, long made, deep sided with lots of performance. This bull is out of 20H a beautiful young female that stems back to the Katrina cow family that we obtained in the Kimlake dispersal quite a few years back. 020H herself is a nice size female with perfect feet and udder, the granddam 7X just went to town last fall due to age after being one of the best females we have owned. This cow family is as sound as they come, never had feet touched, never help them calve and never have had to help a calf suck, just good honest females that know how to produce.

50M maybe is a frame size smaller that his brothers in the sale, but his confirmation stamp is just the same as the rest. Super hairy, deep sided with adequate thickness. His dam is a real nice moderate Wallbanger cow with a real nice udder and feet. These Hawkeye sons rank very high for weaning and yearling weights within the breed. This bull will sire moderate framed calves with ample growth and excellent haircoats. Keep the daughters you won’t be disappointed.

KWA ROOSEVELT
KWA ROOSEVELT

Long smooth made with a nice tidy head and front end best describes this Hawkeye son. This bull would work awesome on a set of second calvers giving you some extra calving ease on those young females. His dam was a moderate but huge volume made female that is sired by one of the best female makers out their Red Mountain. She stems from a cow family that we bought from the Bulhofner family back in 2003 that was a main stay cow family for us here at JayDawn. Unfortunately we lost this bulls dam this winter she got cast out on the feed grounds.

Another solid red son of Hawkeye, long smooth and moderate made. This bull maybe has more round muscle expression than some of his brothers. He comes from a real nice Brooks female that has calving ease built right into her pedigree. The Brooks females have awesome udders with real nice small teats and that brown pigment on them. This bull will work on a variety of cows.

This bull resembles the 54M bull very much, has more round muscling to him than some of the other Hawkeye sons. Still has that great hair coat and your typical long smooth makeup. We have a tremendous set of heifer calves sired by Hawkeye in the replacement pen and are excited to get them into production. This bulls dam is a moderate in structure has lots of milk and has been a solid producer for us.

KWA
KWA
KWA ROOSEVELT

Here is another pen favourite and has been all year long. This long smooth made son of Loyalty will be easily found come sale day. This bull is very structurally correct and gets out and moves so freely across the pen. His dam is 8 this spring, never had her feet touched, never had to help her calve or help a calf suck and always calves in the first cycle. She too is long made and has a perfect udder, she gave us a heifer calf that will be staying in the herd this year. The Loyalty females that we have calved out have really nice udders and are great mothers. We sold a full brother JDF 29L in last years sale to the excellent commercial program of Stan & Kristin Bulford of Grovedale. Like his full brother 33M will work on a variety of cows giving you those nice long made calves that will weigh up in the fall.

Here is another baldy bull sired by Loyalty that is very similar to 33M. Long and smooth made with lots of hair, this deep sided son of Loyalty has also been poplar since birth. Well balanced numbers on this bull he could be used on 2nd calvers to mature cows with no issues. His dam has been a solid producer for us. She is sired by the Budha bull we got from Czech-Mate livestock back in 2018, he left us with some really nice females that are sound to the ground and are good honest cows. 033H has one of our best heifer calves on her this year, she also stems back to the Bulhofner cow we bought back in 2003, this cow family has worked super good for us over the years.

Here is a more moderate made son sired by Loyalty. He is super thick made, he is very complete in his makeup. He has a real gentle disposition and has been super easy to work with. The Regina cow family which we acquired from the Kimlake dispersal back in 2009 have been some of our best producers for production over the years. Fertile good footed cows with real nice udders and lots of milk. Keep all this bulls daughters you won’t be disappointed as the cow family has been solid for us.

Another moderate made son of Loyalty that is super dark red in his coloring. He too has garnished some attention over the year, very attractive in his makeup. He is deep sided and very structurally correct. His dam is a real nice Brooks cow with a nice udder, she stems back to one of our donor cows 16X who was an excellent producer for us. We have a ton of females that trace back to her, gentle dispositions, good producers and good solid cow family here.

19M is a bull that we have admired since day one and very well could have started off the whole red division in this catalogue. He is long and smooth made, very attractive in his makeup and has a gentle disposition. Sired by Reddington a bull who definitely made his mark in the Simmental world and out of a solid solid producer here at JayDawn. 244Z calved again this January with a full brother to 19M at the age of 15, I was really hoping for a heifer. She has had many sons come to this sale selling to some of the top cattle producers in the Peace Country. 2015 Hollingworth Ranch, 2016 Randy Pockett, 2017 Diamond K farms, 2018 Balisky Farms, 2021 Ed Johnson and 2022 Keith Wilson. She has been super fertile calving in the first go each year and has really good feet. This bull will work in all types of programs and give you top notch calves to take to town.

Here is the only son of Rampage that we have on offer this year, we lost him at the start of breeding season after he got hung up on a gate. 39M is a long smooth made bull with some extra frame to him. He really gets out and moves freely across the pen, he is huge in the scotal department. He is backed by a solid cow that traces back to the Melita cow family that has worked so well here. The Rampage bull has left us with a really nice set of females that we are calving out for the second year now. They have really nice udders are very moderate in their stature and brought in some big calves as two year olds. This bull will give you calves with some extra frame that will weigh up in the fall.

Sire: Rendezvous Rampage
Sire: R Plus Reddington

Here is a homo polled fullblood bull we contemplated keeping for ourselves. We don’t have many fullblood and this bull is related to a few of them. He is a big growthy bull with that is heavily muscled when you get in behind him. He is super dark red and wished he would have came with at least one or two goggles lol, his dam is a really nice Darwin female that is a heavy milker with a real nice udder. She is a bigger framed dark red cow with goggles on both eyes and she is really good footed she is the type of cow that you want your bull to be out of. Purebred or commercial breeders take a good look at this herdbull he will fit the bill.

Here is another bull sired by the Bravo bull and out of another Darwin female making him a ¾ sib to the 17M bull. Long and stout made these Bravo sons are maternally bred to produce outstanding replacements. His dam is a polled female moderate in stature has a really nice udder like all our Darwin females. These Diluter free fullbloods would work really well on a set of black cows to give you those black baldy females that are so highly sought after or just to put back into your own herd.

Sire: Champs Bravo
Maternal Grandsire: Sibelle Pol Darwin

Here is a calving ease full fleck sired by the Imax bull who has stood the test of time as a calving ease bull. Imax has worked really well for us on first calf heifers and he leaves outstanding replacement females that have really nice udders with perfect teat placement. This bull is moderate and stout made. His dam is a young Treasure Island female that stems back to the Regina cow family known for its production. Whether you want to use this guy as a calving ease bull or throw on the cow herd knowing you will get trouble free calving he will work for you.

Here is an own son of the Treasure Island bull we walked for a few years, 66M is complete in his makeup and very similar to his full brother that sold in last years sale to the good cattle program of Brian Lawrence. Out of a Bank Roll female that many pick out on pasture tours, she is moderate in stature and is stout made. She is a very heavy milking female with a real nice udder and teat placement. This bull will give you trouble free calving and a real good set of calves, keep the heifers as they will make great cows.

Sire: Anchor D Imax
Sire: AJB Treasure Island 49G

Here is an embryo off of Bourban and 606D that we flushed in 2023. We got 2 bulls calves from that flush this year and the results from the flush exceeded our expectations. Born easy, rapid growth and just plain good calves. 1M is the bigger framed bull of the two, this tan bull will have some friends come sale day. He is long and smooth made with a real nice head and front end for ease of calving. The Bourban calves are short gestations which results in easier calving. Bourbans dam is one of the Charolais breeds elite females of all times and we are really excited to offer these bulls at our sale. 1M’s dam is a moderate but very stout made char cow that barely fit in the squeeze as she is so thick, she has a perfect udder that’s very square and has nice tidy little teats. 606D is a embryo herself coming from the excellent Harvie Ranching program. This bull will leave you and awesome set of steers and the females should be top notch.

Here is the other flush mate to 1M, he too is a light buff color very similar to the 606D dam. He is quite a bit smaller than his full brother and appears to have the appearance of more of a calving ease bull. Nice small head and smooth shoulders on 2M he definitely would work fantastic on a group of 2nd calvers the first year and take it from there whether he would work in the heifer pen. He too is stout made with lots of natural muscling to him with a real nice hair coat. These two bulls are backed by great mother cows on both sides of the pedigree and sired by one of the breeds top Charolais bulls, definitely sale features this year.

Sire: PCC Bourban 118J
Dam: 606D

Here is another embryo bull this time out of the great 519C Fairytale cow that has been a stellar producer for us. Remember a couple years back we sold 10 flush mate brothers out of her in the 2023 sale that averaged $8400. It was one of the most consistent flushes leaving us a tremendous set of bulls and 3 daughters that are now into there 2nd year of production in the herd. Well we were not as lucky this time with the embryo work and only ended up with one bull and two heifer calves this go. Sired by the Bourban bull, 3M is a big growthy bull that started out small and never looked back. He has lots of natural muscling and thickness, he is long made and lots of performance. The sisters in the heifer pen are at the top of the pen and we are super excited to get them into production. Bourban is out of the great Berkley Ann cow that has done so well for Prairie Cove, if 3M produces females anything like her you will want to keep everyone of them.

Talk about a powerhouse, they don’t get any longer made than 6M. This bull is very soggy made, he has so much middle to him and is super stout made from every angle you look at him. He has so much neck extension that blends into a real nice flat shoulder. This is our first set of calves sired by the Mayfield bull and we are very happy with the bulls and the heifers that we got the first year. We lost 6M’s dam last year and we were extremely disappointed as we wanted to put her into the flush program. She had perfect feet and a really nice udder. 317N was super long made as well and had a ton of volume with so much middle, she wasn’t that tall but she definitely was a heavy weight. She was super quiet and was extremely easy to handle, it never is the duds that one loses it always seems to be the best ones. We have two maternal sisters in the herd and they both pattern the 317N cow very closely. This bull could work in either a commercial or purebred program, one thing is for sure he will produce some outstanding offspring.

BRCHE Berkley Ann 8507

Another powerhouse of a bull sired by Mayfield, this bull has a ton of natural muscling. He is super stout from every angle you look at him. He is homo polled and will take off all the horns from his calves. His dam is a large volume Downtown female that stems back to the 519C Fairytale cow family who has been in our donor program. She has a ton of milk and raises a big calf each and every year. She has put two sons through this sale selling to some top commercial programs across Alberta, Golden View Fabricating in 2024 and Leitch Livestock in 2023 sale. If you are looking for performance in your calf crop look to one of these Mayfield sons they will get you there. The females off this bull will also be top notch replacements.

Maternal Brother: JDF 61L Maternal Brother: JDF 22K

Mayfield really put his stamp on the progeny he sired here at JayDawn. 10M is a super long smooth made bull. They all have a ton of hair and lots of performance. This bull started out at just 90 lbs and has above average performance. His dam is a full sister to the 519C donor cow that we have been flushing, the Lanza x 117M cows have been superior cows for us in terms of production. Fertile good footed cows that milk well and raise big calves. 704E herself has also put a few bulls through the Northern Classic bull sale selling to some of the top commercial programs in Northern Alberta. Neil Vance 2020, Keith Wilson 2021 and David Kimble in 2024 as well as she put a female back in the herd. These Mayfield sons will work on a variety type of cows.

32M is another long made Mayfield son that has some extra frame to him. Nice headed and smooth fronted they should calve really well. He is very similar to the 10M bull and he should be their dams are ½ sisters as they both stem back to the 117M cow. The Symbol cows that we got out of the 117M flush turned into really nice big cows that had some extra frame, they are good footed and milk really well bringing in some of our biggest calves each fall. A son of 716E sold in last years sale to the good program of Briar Ridge Charolais. Another bull that can be used on a variety type of cows that will give you great results.

46M gets to lead off this set of calving ease bulls sired by King Louie, a bull that sold through this sale in 2022 to Landaker Charolais, we were able to retain part ownership in King Louie where we used him in the commercial program before utilizing him in the heifer pen the following 2 years where he worked really well for us. Siring calves that were born easy yet had really good performance to them. 46M is out of a direct daughter of the donor cow 519C and out of Fireball. 519C produced a bunch of embryos that year and bred right back on the next cycle to produce this guys dam 219K, fertility runs deep in the Fairytale cow family. 46M started out at just 76 lbs and weaned off at 770 lbs with no creep on a drought year, pretty good for a first calf heifer. He is very stout made with nice bone and has a nice tidy head he should make a calving ease herdbull. Check out his Epds, mostly in green Calving ease and birth weight top 20%, Weaning top 20%, Yearling top 10% and milk in the top 45%. Epd numbers don’t get much better than that, if this bull wasn’t so closely related we would be keeping him to use in our own heifer pen. Purebred or Commercial breeders check out this calving ease herdbull.

31M is very similar bred to 46M, also out of a Fairytale bred female and Louie. The Fairytale females are known for their calving ease also which contributes to King Louie’s calving ease. Another low birthweight of 75 lbs from this mating with a weaning weight of 735 lbs. This calving ease bull has a nice small head with extra neck extension and a smooth shoulder. Out of a young Fireball female that bred right back and calved in January. Again most of this bulls EPD’s are mostly in green. If you need a calving ease bull to use that will still give you good growthy calves then look to one of these Louie son’s.

bw
Maternal Grandsire: HVA Fireball

35M is again bred very similar to the previous two bulls in the catalogue. Out of Louie and a Fireball bred female, the consistency in these 3 bulls for low birth weight, short gestation with exceptional growth proves that this combination works. 72 lb birth weight here, again close to 700 lb weaning weight and the dam bred right back and calved in January again with another low birth weight heifer calf. This bulls grandmother was an exceptional female that produced till she was 14 years of age and still had a perfect udder and really good feet. 229K herself is a moderate made female with a perfect udder as well. Again check out the EPD’s on this bull mostly in green, pretty good when these calving ease bulls can rank in the top of the breed in all categories.

38M is another mating between King Louie and a HVA Fireball daughter that produced this low birth weight bull of 86 lbs who also weaned off at 700 lbs. 38M has a little more birth weight than the 3 previous calving ease bulls but he too was born unassisted from a first calf heifer. His granddam 722E always has a small calf. It is really nice when these first calf heifers lay down and calve unassisted, breed right back and then wean off a calf in the fall at 700 lbs plus. This bull is very complete in his makeup, he is out of a really nice Fireball female that is moderate and stout made with perfect udder. We really are excited about these Fireball females as they mature they look like they are going to be around for the long haul. Again most of this bulls EPD’s are mostly in the green, take ahold of one of these calving ease char bulls and put them to work.

Paternal Grandsire: LT Nationwide
Maternal Grandsire: HVA Fireball

Here is a little different bred calving ease bull, out of Elders Jake a bull that was co-owned with Bob Charolais and Anchor D. Just an 84 lb birth weight on this bull, would be ideal for 2nd calvers or cows to give you that extra peace of mind at calving time. His dam is out of HRJ Maverick a bull we also used on our heifers with great success. There is some performance bulls on the cow side with CJC Symbol giving this bull a little extra jam. 16M is very complete in his make up, deep sided and soggy made with huge testicles. This bull will work on a variety of cows and give you calving ease with good growthy calves.

Sire: Elders Jake

This buckskin bull is very complete in his makeup, moderate framed with ample muscling and a real good hair coat. He is out of our donor cow 606D and our walking herdbull Bud, he is a maternal brother to the 2 lead of bulls in the char section. 606D is a tank of a cow, not tall just super thick made, she barely fits in the squeeze. She has a perfect udder and is very docile to work with, we have daughters from her also working in the herd and they too have perfect udders and raise big calves hence why we flushed her to expand this genetic line. We have been really happy with the Bud calves, they perform really well for us. 48M should mature into a herdbull that you will be proud to have walk your pastures.

79M is one of the youngest bulls in the bull pen but stands right in there with the older bulls in the pen. This March born bull has always been a standout, super deep sided and soggy made. This buckskin bull is out of 546C who is also a buckskin colored cow, she has a really nice udder with lots of milk and is a larger made female. The char cross calves always top the markets as the feedlots love these calves and pay a premium for them. 79M will sire an exceptional set of calves for you to take to town.

Sire Bud
Dam: JDF Nadie 606D
Sire: Bud Winnebago 11J

Here is a long smooth made son of the Bud bull and out of a 201H which is the Anita cow family that is a no fuss cow family that always brings in the heavy weights each fall. The Anita cows are big framed cows that are super long made and are very fertile. If you are looking to add some extra frame and performance to your calves then look to this bull he will give you that.

51M is very similar made to the 37M bull, long and smooth made with little extra frame and performance. His dam is a beautiful Wizard cow that has lots of volume to her and has a picture perfect udder, she is a maternal sister to the 6M bull at the start of the char section. If you are looking to raise some top end char female this bull will give you that, the cow family behind this bull is second to none. They always raise some of our biggest calves each and every year.

Here is a low birth weight bull out of Bud and a cow that is sired by Maverick who we used with great success in the heifer pen for a few years. Not only did Maverick supply us with calving ease he left us with some really nice females that we put back in the herd, they are moderate in stature, stout made with good udders and lots of milk. They raise big calves and look like they are going to be around for the long haul. 75M is a deep sided soggy made bull that will calve good and give you growthy calves. If you notice he has some missing hair on his hip not sure if it happened at birth or if it’s a birth mark but it sure won’t affect his breeding ability.

Welcome from Willow Creek Simmentals

On behalf of everyone at Willow Creek Simmentals we would like to welcome you to the 22nd annual Northern Classic Bull sale. Once again it seems like just yesterday, we were getting ready for last year’s sale. We want to thank all the bidders, buyers and everyone else who attended the sale for making it such a great day.

This year was another challenging one for certain areas as we had spotty rains which made for hit and miss crops. Like all cattle ranchers do, we found a way to make things work and be able to keep the cowherd around. The bright spot to it all was the record high cattle prices this fall. We seen a lot of calves hit nearly $3000 per calf. I don’t think we have ever really thought we’d get there although we certainly need it with the increasing expenses. With the North American cow herd so small, hopefully we can keep these prices for a few years, and capitalize on it while we have it. It has definitely given the cattle industry a lot of optimism.

Here at Willow Creek, we have remained committed to you the customer, on increasing your bottom line by improving performance all while focusing on the most important aspects which to us is feet, udders and easy fleshing ability. Our focus has always been on the momma cow and maternal aspects of it. We are very picky on udder quality, foot structure and overall soundness. With this we try to keep the performance up as well to improve weaning weights year after year. We run a pretty extensive embryo and Ai program. We have ben flushing out very best few cows to industry leading sires as we are always evolving to match the changing customer needs. Our cow herd is 125 momma cows, that consists of red, and black Simmental’s and a few select Black Angus cows, and a commercial cow herd of about 30 cows that we use for our embryo recips. We hare hoping to increase our Sim/ Angus program as we have seen a high demand for these true halfblood bulls. We have seen the consistency in our cow herd really come to the forefront and our moto is “a cow must earn her keep, as there is someone always waiting to take their spot”. We take pride in our herd sire battery, featured by the NUG Dunlop bull who will make his debut next year with an impressive set of calves. This year is the debut of our powerful black baldy sire RWR Elite 56K who adds structural integrity to his calves while keeping the muscle and rib shape. We feel this pen of bulls will really prove what he is all about. Again, we have a few from the old boys, Popeye and Launch continue to set the bar in different aspects but bring a lot to the table. The bulls have been developed on a high roughage diet consisting of a oat/barley silage mix, chopped hay, and the starch free Country Junction bull pellet. This is the same ration we have been using for about 5 years now and have nothing but great feedback as we see these bulls really go to work. The bulls are developed in a large pasture to ensure they have room to move around and stay active.

We really encourage anyone with interest to come stop by and see the bulls at home. We would love to show you the mothers of these bulls as we are very proud of our cow herd. The bulls will move into Evergreen Park on the Wednesday before the sale for viewing up until the sale. It’s an exciting time to be in the cattle industry and we hope you can join us in Grande Prairie on March 7th. And do not hesitate to reach out to Colby or Mike and we would be happy to discuss your needs and find a bull suitable for your program.

Willow Creek Simmentals

Popeye is without a doubt the most consistent breeding bull we have ever used. Every son is recognizable with there explosive muscle shape, big wide tops and large testicle size. His daughters are bigger framed, have nice small udders and he put big square feet on all his progeny. The local cattlemen can attest to the quality of Popeye as each sale his sons are becoming more and more popular. To date 30 popeye sons have averaged nearly $9000. I cant think of any other sire that has accomplished that in the Peace country. Popeye has run his course and after this bull sale we will have limited sons, so take charge this year and get these high quality bulls bought.

Sire

We feel its only fitting that we lead off this years offering with Elevate 33M. He is a big time, curve bending herd sire that demands the attention of the most serious cattlemen. When you get the chance to evaluate 33M, it is truly tough to pick a hole in him, he is that fault free. Elevate 33M is stout hipped, about as deep and soft middled as any Popeye son we have ever had, extremely sound on the move, structurally fault free, and boasts that commanding herd sire presence and skull shape. We took him out to the PCBC show in January where he was the talk of the barns, and claimed Reserve Champion Cattlemen’s Choice bull. It really comes as no surprise that Elevate is this good, as he is mothered by the great 33G cow. We would easily rank her as our very best red cow in the herd, and she stems from the highest regarded cow family at Willow Creek, the Red Gals. Foot and udder quality is second to none in this cow family. A full sister to 33G produced our feature female to sell this summer at the World Simmental Sale fetching $14,000 to Ashworth Farm and Ranch. We received numerous compliments that many felt she was the best footed and most structurally sound female in the entire sale. 33G is no stranger to producing the good ones, as two years ago she raised the leadoff and high selling Black Rifle bull through this very sale commanding $15,000 to Champ Simmentals. Winston will vouche anytime what kind of impact Black Rifle is creating on the Champs purebred herd. Last year on of the leadoff bulls was also a full sibling going to the good friends of ours at Warkentin Land and Cattle. We haven’t raised to many red bulls that are this good, and his name says it all. He will Elevate your program to new heights.

Dam: MMWK Red Gal 33G

You will drive a lot of miles to find a black bull with this much hip and muscle. Smackdown 50M would rival any other bull as the heaviest muscled Popeye sons to date, which really says something as Popeye has changed the dynamics in our herd when we talk about muscle shape. 50M attracts you with his herd sire head, thick wavy haircoat, large testicles, and overall style and look. You know when you just see a bull and he has that “look”, that’s Smackdown. Another proven mating as last years full brother sold for $12,500 to Pegasus Ranch, another full sister is one of our favorite young black cows and the dam of the feature 48M bull later in the catalog. Probably the most important part about 50M is his elite donor grand dam, MAF 101C is our go to donor cow that is as fertile as them come producing 72 embryos on two flushes. 101C is large and robust, with a picture perfect udder, impeccable feet and has such a calm demeanor. We encourage you to stop by and view her, we plan to keep building out herd around her. Without a doubt Smackdown will create a stir come sale day, and i have a feeling that most serious and astute cattlemen will have a lot of checkmarks by his name.

These powerful Popeye sons just keep coming!! The cross of Popeye on the Lotto daughters has been incredible and if you have followed our sale the past few years you will notice many of the high sellers boasting this pedigree, it just flat out works. 5M might be the best footed bull in the entire offering, he is long spined, heavy haired and has that Popeye look with lots of muscle shape. He was also a member of our show team that was crowned PCBC Reserve Pen of 3 bulls this year. His beautiful red Lotto mother is really making a name for herself here as she continues to raise the bar on production. Her first calf was the high selling red bull that year at $10,000 to Balisky Farms, last years full brother to 5M commanded $11,000 to Maverick Livestock. Now you add 5M to try and build on them impressive numbers. This is a cow family that has annually produced progeny with performance and foot quality.

Dam: Bella 5H
Full Sister
Full Brother

Big time performance bull whose picture doesn’t do him any justice. Most notably this guy will be praised as Lambeau’s little brother. Lambeau was the 2022 high seller at $20,000 to Our good friends at Polar Farms, where he has been producing some incredible calves. 64M is a big barreled, big testicalled, stout hipped bull that travels out on a big square foot. He presents some big performance numbers already but that truly doesn’t tell the whole story, as 64M was sidelined a few weeks in November with an illness that took him off feed for 2 weeks. He has since caught right back up but did without a doubt effect his yearling numbers. We all seen the premium on price that we got off them heavy weight steers this past fall, this is the kind of bull to do that. Plus being Homo Black he will keep them all black hided to. There isn’t much guess work to this fella, like all these Popeye sons it will not take you long to find them sale day. Trust me, like past years, they will continue to raise the bar.

The heavyweight of the Popeye sons at weaning and he hasn’t slowed down. 62M is a bull that will add some frame, and length to his calves, just what everyone wants right? He is backed by a heavy milking, extremely productive Surge 38X cow that really left her mark over the years when she raised back to back 1000+lbs Missile sons. Her sons have went to HBRC Valley Farming, Warkentin Land and Cattle, Moore Ranch, Hennessy Farms and Ken Stark. She only ever gave us one daughter, 98H,who has become extremely productive as well raising the $14,000 high selling Popeye son to Maverick Livestock, and followed it up with an impressive March born Launch son this year.

Full Brother

We have began trying some of these sim/angus bulls with great luck so far. Here we have a Popeye son, back to the legendary female making angus bull Sooline Motive and even more maternally with Lotto in the background to. His Motive dam has a really neat and tidy udder, and yet milks like crazy. We like these sim/angus bulls to get keep that shot of angus in the cows but embraces the simmental performance. 357M is a bull with added frame, length of spined and stout topped all while maintaining the angus maternal strengths.

This is a great calving ease option that is backed by our favorite young cow. His dam is an absolutely gorgeous black baldy SVS Rancher daughter that is excellent footed, perfect uddered, and high capacity. She is a direct daughter of our donor MAF 167C, who took the Northern Classic by storm last spring when she was the dam of the two lead off bulls. He does have some larger scurs that make his head look a little wide but i wouldn’t hesitate to use him in the heifer pen.

We used Denali just to add a little twist in the pedigrees around here. 17M is mothered by a model cow that has some extra size, big middled and a beautiful udder. As a calf 17M was our most impressive bull, and his full sister is looking that way now again. 17M ended up staying a little more moderate, but has good muscle shape, excellent footed and thick, straight hair.

SVS CAPTAIN MORGAN 11Z
Dam: Lisa 17G

This Denali son has been a favorite amongst ours all summer long and continuing into winter. 57M combines a some extra frame, extra length of body, has an attractive herd bull type head, all while remaining deep bodied. His best attribute will be his awesome dam, we consider her one of the best Lotto daughters in the herd and there are some awfully good ones. She has sent sons to Hennessy Farms and Michael Jennings in the past few sales.

The lone Lambeau son this year, and one that packs as much punch as any in the sale. He is a ET son out of the great 44B cow we flushed do to her shear production. She herself has produced many high sellers, and now all of her daughters are following suite. Notice her grandsons, 5M and 46M, both will be sale features. 359M had a rough start losing his dam at birth, being bottle fed a few weeks before Alan Krahn was generous enough to loan us a cow. With how he turned out, i can only imagine what he might look like if he hadn’t endured all this.

Dam: Me Bell 57F

A definite sale feature, and a bull that’s awfully hard to pick a hole in. Sired by the legendary Captain Morgan bull that has sired more high end bulls and females as any other simmental bull. Captains Call is backed by our great donor MAF 167C who took the Northern Classic by storm last spring where her 4 sons averaged $14,000. Her sons went to Wallgren Farms and Clifford Land and Cattle, 2 to HBRC Valley Farming and another to Codesa Colony. We have 5 exceptional daughters in the herd now, plus we had 8 full sibling ET calves to 167M, and her exciting Dunlop calf. This cow just does not miss. Captains Call is so balanced, structurally sound, has some style and presence, stout made, heavy haired, all while travelling like a cat on awesome feet. This guy is going to create a lot of friends come sale day, he’s the real deal.

Definitely a bull that’s going to get a lot of attention come sale day and rightfully so. Walk This Way created a stir for us at last years sale siring numerous high sellers. 46M follows suite extremely well, and will certainly do the same. He is soft and deep made, thick made big nutted, hairy and has them classic big square feet that WTW passes down. Mothered by an extremely productive Missile daughter who raised the high selling red bull at the Northern Classic last year to the great program at Ten Bar Cattle Co. I highly recommend finding 46M come sale day, he is worth the look.

The heavy weight of this years offering and a bull that’s backed by the best cow on the ranch. 120L is a big framed, big middled bull with a ton of hair and just has that masculine look. He weaned off early September at 955lbs, and crushed the scales in January at 1505lbs. 120L comes from our ET program we flushed our good 101C cow to Captain Blaze to add the influence of Captain morgan while adding the blaze face. Both his flush sisters come as baldy’s. 120M is a bull that’s the ideal rancher type bull, all the power to sire scale crushing calves, yet has the ability to make a pen full of replacements. His dam is a large sized cow that is highly fertile, we have 5 daughters in the herd now and they are all just as productive. Note the 50M feature bull is mothered by a direct daughter. Take the opportunity to get this bull bought and reap the rewards for years to come.

Kyle and Ashley have brought us a true calving ease sale feature that is destined to be popular on March 7th. Coming into the world at just 79lbs, he took off to a 825lbs weaning weight in early September. Not to much surprise as his dam is by far the most productive cow in their herd, raising numerous high performing bulls including their own herd sire they successfully walked a few years. If you ever get the chance to view this bulls mother, she is 12 years old now and still has picture perfect feet and an excellent udder. Sired by an In Dew Time, a popular bull from back in the day offers a real cool twist to this outcross pedigree. His picture says it all, he’s real stout made, but yet still fine enough boned and has that nice small head to assist in the calving ease. It’ll be tough to find calving ease bulls of this caliber.

Dam: Linette 101C

Two years ago we were on the hunt for a black herdsire when we come across the Red Willow Ranch catalog. They had a few feature Connected sons, and after getting some additional pictures and videos from Josh we knew Elite 56K was a bull to take a run on. Elite is our type off bull, good frame, big ribbed, stout made and has awesome square feet. He has a true herd bull presence as he carries his head proudly and has really passed it onto his sons. Elite is also one of the easiest doing bulls we have ever owned. A big part on our decision was seeing the strength of the cow family behind him as both his dam and grand dam were extremely good cows. We wait eagerly wait to see what his females will do, as Josh from RWR keeps saying ‘you better keep every one of his daughters’. The first set of sons are stout made, big topped, have big nuts under them and just true beef bulls. We really admire the calm demeanor on the Elite sons to. This will be an exciting sire that you see a lot more from here at Willow Creek.

A very fitting individual to lead off this first group of RWR Elite 56K sons. When you get to analyze 42M you really appreciate how wide topped he is, combine that with his large testicles, barreled rib shape and that impressive haircoat its easy to see why we rank him so high. This is the type we had hoped for when we purchased Elite. 42M is backed by a highly productive cow that seems to get it done year after year. We sold a feature son off her last year to Maverick Livestock. 42M will knock the horns off and keep them all black hided. These are the types of bulls that are easy to sell.

Dam: Miss Diamond 42H

This large framed black baldy bull is bound to be popular and its easy to see why. These Elite sons have so much style and presence to them, they carry there heads so proudly and it really catches your eye. 87M is easy to spot as he is the biggest framed, longest made Elite son in the pen. I’ve mentioned it before that we really appreciate the temperaments on these Elite sons to. His grand dam 78E has been a really productive cow sending some high quality females through our Ladies of the Peace female sale.

Here is a true sim/angus bull combining Elite with a big framed powerful purebred black angus cow. We plan to utilize this sim/angus cross more going forward, our most impressive calf right now is off this same angus cow and Certified 1L who was last years high selling bull. It just flat out works. 49M is without a doubt the most showy, attractive bull in the entire offering as he carries his perfect blaze faced head around proudly and really shows off that neck extension he exhibits. 49M is a bull with a touch more frame, has that deep angus body style and looks to be packing a large tool box with him. It wouldn’t surprise me if this guy becomes a crowd favorite sale day.

I think this guy would rival anyone in the offering for being the widest, heavy muscled bull. He comes on a moderate frame but boy does he pack a punch when it coms to density and capacity as you can see by his weights as he keeps right up with the big boys. Its pretty agreeable around the farm that his dam 63J is one of our very favorite cows. She is just so complete in her make up, her foot structure so perfect, nice tidy udder and really produces most importantly. Once you see these Elite sons in town you will also appreciate the masculine heads and herd bull crest they all have. They just look like bulls.

Another moderate made Elite son that is all bull. His head and crest, the way he carries himself probably reminds me the most of his sire. We really watch for that herd sire head look when we search out for bulls and 48M has that look. He is a bit more moderate made, deep sided, big topped and structurally sound. His dam is quickly rising the ranks as she produced our lead off bred heifer last fall at the Ladies of the Peace sale, now this guy and has probably the best heifer calf on the ground right now, who just happens to be full sister to 48M. You will notice she is also a full sister to our feature black bull Smackdown 50M, as you can see we think very highly of her.

Dam: Linnette 48J
Dam: MMWK Ms Power 63J

A little more frame and stretch to this bull. We really appreciate the thick wavy hair coat and strong foot structure that he boasts. Like his sire, he is a really athletic bull that moves with ease and will cover a pile of cows. His mother and a maternal sister who just calved the other day have extremely strong udders, and with the cow power backing Elite i think this guy will definitely sire some awesome females.

This bull is a twin but his dam has a history of having lower birthweight calves so i feel this guy will end up calving extremely well and with time could find his way into more of a calving ease role. He is smooth made, nice boned and deep made. HE has really started to come into his own as of late. His dam has been highly productive for us sending bulls to Dale Martinson, Codesa Colony, Warkenton Land and Cattle, Clint Polukoshko, and females to Mader Ranches and Adam Sorenson. Quite the track record i must say.

This is a very good calving ease prospect that has a ton of hair, excellent footed and is very smooth made, all traits that Slider has really passed on consistently. We don’t have to many calving ease bulls but this guy will be one that we feel should be a sleep all night type of heifer bull. His mother is a big framed Structure daughter that we like quite a bit. Note the excellent calving ease EPDs on this bull.

One of the youngest bulls in the offering this year but a bull that has a very attractive look to him and always catches your eye. His dark red color, stout hip shape and overall balance is what makes him a favorite in the red section. Being a direct Launch son you will definitely want to keep every daughter, they are all so impressive and we highly recommend a tour to seen these Launch daughters in production. His grand dam 406B has been a great producer for us and now his dam is looking to follow suite as her first daughter was a feature for us at the LOP sale selling to WillowDale Simmentals. You will definitely want to keep every daughter from this guy.

This is our youngest bull on offer and when touring the pen you would never know. Come sale day, he still wont even be a year old. But that hasn’t slowed him down, check out his performance numbers. He actually has the highest adjusted weights of all the bulls in our offering. 98M is a super soggy bull that is very athletic in his movement and has excellent black feet to go with it all. His dam is a moderate made black Missile daughter that sure knows how to produce as her Popeye son last year was a high seller going to Maverick Livestock at $14,000. 98M already stands in with the top bulls, but just imagine if he was 2 months older like the rest.

Maternal Sister
Maternal Brother

A dark red Launch son that is mothered by one of our favorite black cows on the farm. 52M will definitely make some impressive females, as his full sister was the impressive high selling heifer calf two years ago going to Montagneouse Creek Simmentals. Like all Launch cattle 52M is excellent footed and very athletic on the move. He’s the kind that will cover a lot of cows out on pasture.

I’m going to sound like a broken record but you just have to keep every daughter by these Launch sons. We cannot say enough good about the Launch daughters we just calved out and we encourage anyone to come tour them. 13M is mothered by one of our favorite young red cows who we think has a very bright future here. You will probably hear more about her next year with her impressive Dunlop son at side. 13M has a thick haircoat made for these Canadian winters, is attractive fronted and has the patented dark Launch feet.

Full Sister KWA

The lone red Elite son this year, but he come dark red, and well muscled. I never really thought of him as much of a calving ease type bull until we pictured but he is quite fine boned, small headed and smooth made. I think he is the ideal bull for young cows but has potential to move his way up to a potential calving ease bull. His dam is a large framed, excellent footed Discovery daughter that has been producing high end females through our LOP sale sending daughters to Johnson Ranching and Rogerson Farms.

We only have one Black Angus bull this year but he is a very high quality one at that. Last fall dad was out at Agribition and called me saying he had found this Triumph daughter in the “Yards” and we needed to watch for her at this sale she was consigned to. Well we got her bought and what a great catch it was as she is a an absolutely beautiful cow. Shes rugged made, awesome footed, tanky and maternal. At her first try she weaned this Grit son off just shy of 800lbs. These calving ease angus bulls, that have this type of performance are tough to find. 201M is easy doing, soft made, ideal in his structure, and has that real angus character head. We don’t have many angus cows, so don’t have the numbers for bulls but we sure are proud of the ones we do have.

Maternal Sister

Last spring we needed to purchase a red herdsire. We set out on a bull tour and visited probably 15 high end programs. We had high criteria on what we wanted, Dark Red, Sounded structured, ideal foot structure, adequate performance and most importantly a high-quality mother backing him. After our tour we had 3 bulls marked that we felt fit our needs. Dunlop first caught our eye in the Maxwell catalog, then we really liked his video, so after viewing him we knew he was a bull we could use. After seeing his dam and full sister we were even more impressed. And the icing on the cake was viewing a few other Landmark daughters in numerous other herds. They were the type of females we strive for. We also really liked that fact that he was a total outcross pedigree to most red and black genetics right now. We partnered up with our good friends at Balisky Farms and got Dunlop bought for $47,500. Dunlop has done nothing but impress since he arrived. He naturally bred 50 head as a yearling, came home in good shape, then after a few months to recoup headed to Alta Genetics to collect semen on him. The Dunlop calves are IMPRESSIVE! Dark red, stout made, lots of hair, and they were the most vigorous calves born this year. They were up and sucking within minutes, even quicker than the angus calves. As you can see by these few calf pictures, Dunlop is a bull you will hear and awful lot about going forward not just for us but the programs that thought highly enough of him and bought semen on him through the New Years Resolution sale, where it averaged just shy of $250 per straw.

Thanks to the Progressive breeders who purchased Dunlop Semen: Ashworth Farm and Ranch • Rainbow River Simmentals • SAJ Simmentals • Northern Lights Simmentals
