Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s once again time to welcome everyone to our annual bull and female sale. First and foremost, we would like to thank all of our past and present customers for their patronage. Without all of you, we would not be doing what we are doing. Although this past year has seen drought, fire and frost with much moisture in the fall, the cattle industry remains steady and is gaining steam heading towards spring, with calves up over a dime already since Christmas, and the futures looking good, with feeder cattle demand strong. We at Muirhead Cattle Co are no different than any of you and neither are our cows any different than yours! We run both our purebred and commercial cows under ranch conditions. We calve 450 cows starting the 25th of April and know the importance of good udders, good feet and calves born with lots of vigor. Muirhead Cattle Co has vey limited man-power with Ward the main feed guy, Laurie & Amanda working full-time off-farm leaving only Justin to calve the cows. And we can honestly say that after years of rigidly culling poor udders, bad feet, knuckled over calves, calves with no vigor and infertility we are realizing a much more efficient and user-friendly cowherd and yes one man can do it all with a little help from mother nature. We use the same genetics in our commercial cows as we sell to you, from purebred simmental to sim-angus to purebred angus. We do know our bulls work as we sell all the steer calves at the end of October annually off the cow with no creep, weighing consistently 625 lbs shrunk for the last five years. The heifers we have retained are increasingly becoming the top end of the cowherd. We feel confident that we can help you select bulls that are right for your program. We have and will continue to use the best genetics possible through an extensive embryo transplant program and by sourcing sires from across North America to meet these standards: good feet, nice tight udders with proper teat size, calving ease, fertility, performance, structural eye-appeal, duability and carcass quality; all things we are looking to maintain and/or improve upon. We feel very passionate about passing this onto you, our customer! And although, we strive for perfection, things do happen and when, and if they do, we will be there to stand behind both the bulls and females we sell. As always, the bulls have been culled hard and managed for longevity, a very strong and even set of 2 yr old bulls from front to back. This year we have a select group of February-born yearlings from our winter embryo program, with quality running deep from top to bottom. And as last year, there are a nice group of open heifers from the top of both the winter and summer-born pens and a handful of bred heifers. We have what you want or need! Many of the females on offer are ET females and all of the sale heifers are backed by their hard working females.
