McMillen Ranching Ltd. “Herdbuilder” Production Sale 2025
On behalf of everyone here at MRL, we would like to welcome you to our Herdbuilder ’25 Fall Female Production Sale. Our 2025 lineup is loaded featuring some of the most exciting genetics in today’s business. Many of the sires and service sires represented are exclusive to ourselves or a limited few that have anteed up to acquire these breed leading genetics. As always ,our most productive, highly proven cow families will be represented in each and every lot. There will be donor type females and front pasture cows for the industry’s leading breeders wanting to add those top end females with a pedigree and prefix that will excel their programs as well as elite brood cows in the making for some of the most progressive commercial cattle outfits both sides of the 49th that we work with year after year.
In last year’s welcome, I elated to how good the cattle market was and the record prices of all classes of cattle- well fast forward to this fall and holy cow. This market creates opportunity to clean up the older bottom end of any herd and invest in quality, young, highly productive females that put your operation in the driver’s seat over the next decade. From supply and demand perspective these prices aren’t going anywhere for a while yet. The most progressive cattlemen will keep moving forward building their herds! So nice to see all the hard-working, progressive cattle people we have dealt with for years get paid for their hard work and business decisions. We start with a powerful group of black Simmental females with more than a couple donor prospects and front pasture females. The service on this group is totally exclusive to this offering and adds big time value. Service to Hart State of War who has made a name for himself in the industry. This semen is as scarce as hen’s teeth and worth a pretty penny if you can find it. Also service to the totally exclusive R+ Focus and MRL Strategy who’s first son garnered $175,000 at last year’s bull sale. Opportunity you won’t find at every sale this fall. The red Simmental group is big time exciting led by none other than a Dewalt x our famous 4440 donor and full sibling to our 2 lead off bulls from last spring. A few more Dewalt daughters and the exciting first group of MRL Yellowstone daughters once again totally exclusive to MRL in Canada and rounded out by daughters of the most elite sires we have sold over the past couple of years- MRL Playmaker, MRL PR Man & MRL Kodiak just to name a couple. There will be a quick roi on several in this powerful group.
In the Angus division, we have dug extremely deep to offer the most elite females that represent our exclusive herd bull battery once again. Sires we have spared no expense in owning. Once again, the service on this group will not be found in every sale. AI sires Ter-Ron Laredo and Allison Prestige as well as our walking sire Red Flying K Hudson will be the first to hit the ground anywhere in North America.
The group of heifers bred to calve in March are the females born in our spring calving herd and genetically the same breeding as the early calving group. Both purebred and commercial cattlemen will want to have a look here if spring calving makes more sense for your operation.
A group of bred females we are proud to offer to the industry that truly represent our breeding program and a must see group for 2025.
We welcome you to the ranch anytime to view the offering and certainly welcome phone calls to go over the 2025 lineup. Once again, Mark Shologan with DLMS will be here for internet bidding and the Bohrson Marketing Team has been through the pen multiple times- give Scott, Tig, Nate, Cody or any of the qualified team a call for any assistance you may require.
We look forward to visiting with out long-time customers and new ones sale day or prior to. Lee and Dave are available 24/7 to go over the offering. We truly have been blessed to have some of the greatest fellow breeders and commercial cattlemen as customers and friends for over 5 decades in the seedstock business.

Be sure to mark down December 13th on your calendar and join us on the ranch near Carievale,SK for this must attend event.
After their spring bull sale this past March and all the excitement built around some of the elite herd bulls that were marketed in 2025, you must pay attention to the pedigrees on these powerful MRL females up for auction. Many of these heifers are full siblings to some of the high selling bulls that went into some great programs and are backed by the productive cows that make up MRL. These females both in the black & red division are simply deep in quality. They have all the makings to be productive mother cows and herd bull factory’s and are bred with power, performance and calving ease in mind. These females are produced here to be easy doing with an emphasis on foot and udder quality, do-ability and good looking. We think this is very well represented here this year. An exciting set of females that demand your appraisal. Also on offer again this year are 46 March Calving bred heifers. These are homereaised heifers come out of their spring calving program and are sisters to the exciting set of 2-year old bulls that are offered each year. These females are incredibly good.
Be sure to make the trip to Carievale. It is well worth it. The MRL program and the McMillen family are amongst the top that we get to work with. We enjoy the people and their product as good as any we get the private to be around. Give Lee or Dave a call to discuss the offering and set up a time to view the sale heifers. If your busy December schedules keeps you away from sale day, please give any of us listed from BMS a shout as we would be happy to assist in your new purchases. We hope to see you sale day!

Bred to Hart State of War 056C April 10. Exposed to NAC Slider 10M April 25 - May 27 You want one hard to fault phenotypically, with a big- time exclusive pedigree, incredible numbers and that big bold blaze face. Females like this that cover all the bases are hard to raise and even harder to sell. Their worth in a cowherd looking to raise that next great herd bull year in and year out is hard to put a number on. Bred early to State of War who’s semen is nearly extinct is icing on the cake!

The Top Gun sons garnered a ton of attention last spring at the bull sale. He is for sure one of our most elite walking sires here at MRL and his dam is none other than our immortal 6823d donor. On the bottom side of this pedigree is an ET daughter of SOW and the powerful 836W donor once again. This female has as much pedigree and predictability as any in this offering. This one probably should have been staying here.

Dam is none other than an ET daughter of Spring Creek Liner 56U and our legendary MRL 836W donor dam of MRL El Tigre and MRL PR Man to name a couple. Boy this one’s hard to part with and may very well get the nod to start this powerful group of bred heifers sale day. Probably the pick of the pen at weaning time and has just continued to blossom as a big time brood cow candidate. So much class and style and yet so much natural muscle, capacity and power. Pretty cool pedigree and a temperament second to none. Again, service to State of war! One here we believe has donor potential. Phenotypically hard to fault from the ground up.

Exposed to SVS Doc Holliday 38L April 25 - May 27 Over the years we have sold some females that we absolutely in no way wanted to part with that have went on to be leading donors for their new owners. I’m not sure we have ever parted with one like this that we are so confident in leaving an impact in the breed. Is she a show heifer, probably not, but she for dang sure is on that is unique in pedigree, highly proven and just has that brood cow herd bull raising look! As I have stated several times before I would not trade her dam for any other cow in the breed as her and her 3 full sisters combined have produced hundreds of thousands of dollars in progeny and more than a few elite breed leading herd sires to date. 2 full brothers to this donor in the making led off our bull sale last spring MRL Lariat at $50,000 to Spring Lake Simmentals and MRL 47M to Circle 7 & Labatte Simmentals at $37,000. Not to mention the natural calf of 4440B Cool Hand Luke selling to Robb Farms & Canadian Sires for a record $175,000. Exposed to Red Flying K Hudson April 25 - May 27
Well we have dug deep for this offering in 2025 but when I pulled this one’s pedigree I soon realized how deep. Her dam, the 4300B Tilt cow, has been one of my favourite Angus cows for years and can produce. We wanted to offer a couple headliner Big Energy daughters- well here you go. Gonna be watching close to see who finds this one.
Another Big Energy daughter here that will be worth the trip. Once again , our most elite cow family as her dam is again a maternal sister to the famous 4422B donor. The top breeder’s stack these cow families for a reason folks. They just plain produce. The Hudson service will really compliment these Big Energy females and what a pedigree.
