On behalf of everyone at MRL, we would like to welcome and invite fellow breeders and commercial cattlemen to the ranch December 9th for our Herdbuilders ’16 Fall Female Production Sale.

As I sit to write this welcome the calf market is strengthening each week. No, it’s not what it has been the past 2 years, but still the 3rd highest market any of us have sold calves at. The good news the start of November is the big, heavy Simm and Simm Cross calves in the 6-8 range bring as much as the 4 weight calves per lb. These are the years that quality pays fellas. Investment in quality females and top herdsires will always pay dividends.

Our 2016 lineup is as diverse and offers more quality and breed leading genetics than it ever has. We only offer females by auction every 2 or 3 years which allows us to dig deep, extremely deep, in our offering. The Red Simmental bred females are a power packed group just bursting with maternal power. Exclusive sire group by IPU Red Western, MRL Destination 91Y and MRL to the Max will lead the charge. The genetic strength of these powerful females is second to none. Also, headliners by Blacktop, Driller and the exciting Bootlegger sire will be round out the offering. The Black breds are equally impressive including daughters of MRL El Tigre, MRL Discovery, SVS Milwaukee and MRL Integrity and out of our most elite cow families. The Simmental breds are without a doubt the strongest set from top to bottom we have ever offered for sale and carry service to some of the most exciting outcross calving ease sires in the breed today. They are all AI bred with no exposure with the exception of a couple of individuals.

The Angus breds are also an impressive bunch. Outcross and exclusive genetics, and the same as the Simmentals, powerful cows to back them up. Service to the exciting MRL Redeem sire from our 2016 bull sale and the U2 Renown sire will only add to the credentials.

The open heifer offering is extremely exciting; offering some of the first daughters to sell by 3 of the most exciting bulls in the breed today. We will let the quality of these young females by MRL Capone, MRL Whiskey and LFE Riddler speak for themselves! And wait until you see their brothers in the bull pen for spring; we are excited to say the least.

To round out the offering is the group of later bred females that are identical in type and kind to our early bred females. This group are 100% home raised females and are for the most part the females from our spring calving herd. These females will be paired and sold in groups of 2. They are all AI bred to elite calving ease Angus bulls and exposed to our highly proven MRLA 201Z calving ease sire to calve starting in March. Supplement sheets will be available sale day with breeding info and dates as well as which females are registerable and their pedigree. All in all, a fancy, fancy group of elite black, red and red Angus females here. (The calves off the Simmental females will be true F1s out of the top genetics in the country top and bottom.)

The most frustrating part of the cattle business from a standpoint of improvement is it is slow. Our offering on December 9th will allow you to take advantage of almost 50 years of breeding progress and step right in at the top of our program with exclusive genetics and proven cow families.
