A s we welcome you to our 9th Annual Bull Sale, I can honestly say we are extremely excited about this group of bulls as they are one of the stronger groups we have ever offered. Amidst the drought, covid, economic chaos, political and media mayhem we are still fortunate to have

a strong agriculture industry. Yes, there are days we are beat up and tired, but honestly stop and reflect where else you would rather be than in Western Canada and being part of a vibrant, family orientated Agriculture industry. As a seed stock producer, we feel it is our job to not only produce the best product we can, but to add value to you our customer as well. “We don’t want to just sell you a bull on Feb 23, we want to sell you bulls that make you more money - MORE POUNDS MORE PROFIT!” We are very proud of the fact we have a large repeat clientele, and we want to be able to add value to every program we sell bulls to and build a relationship of trust that we are supplying the very best Charolais genetics available that will make you more money! If the experts are right and Old Mother Nature gives us a helping hand, the guarded expectations for the 2022 fall commercial calf market could be extremely strong, and the commercial bred cow and heifer market could be headed for all time high levels in 2022 and 2023. But the one thing to always remember, when this market does turn, quality cattle will be in more demand than ever so the decisions you have made over the last couple years and this spring will be reflected in the returns you will receive for the cattle you offer for sale! WHY IT’S VALUABLE TO SELECT CATTLE THAT HAVE BEEN 50K OR 100K TESTED EPDs contain information from an animal's pedigree, performance and possibly DNA (50K/100K Testing) which are directly used to calculate the EPD for that animal in each specific trait. The use of DNA (50K/100K Testing) in the EPD calculation allows us to dramatically increase the accuracy of the EPD for animals that have been 50K/100K tested. These genomicallyenhanced EPDs allows us to greatly enhance our selection process and better predict the genetic potential of that animal, particularly in young cattle (calves, yearling bulls and heifers) that have no offspring to evaluate. For example, in the evaluation of an Animal's DNA (50K test), it is roughly equivalent to the reporting of: • 10 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Calving Ease • 25 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Birth Weight • 15 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Weaning Weight • 8 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Yearling Weight So in summary, it goes without saying that if you were selecting a bull for Calving Ease, it would be a lot more predictable to select a bull that already had information on 25 calves than a bull that didn’t have information on any calves and only relied on information from his sire and dam and his own birth weight. Well, this Patriot x Desirae cross continues to produce and crank out exceptional individuals. Last year a full brother, CML Authentic 34H, was Lot 1 in our 2021 bull sale and went on to be our high seller at $53,000 to Johnson Ranching, Amisk, AB. Also in the spring of 2021, a ½ interest in his full sister, CML Desirae 33H, was purchased by JK Fraser Farms, Rockyview County, AB. She was the Reserve Grand Champion Female at Olds Fall Classic and went on to be a division winner at Farmfair this past fall. When she calved this spring we can honestly say she has the best udder on the farm! His dam, PZC TR Desirae 012 has produced more high selling females over the past 4 years than any cow in Canada. She is a two time Agribition Champion that was declared Supreme Champion female at Agribition in 2015. As a purebred breeder, the fastest way to build an elite cowherd is to use a son from one of the breeds elite cows. His sire, LT Patriot 4004, sold in the 2015 LT Ranch bull sale for $105,000 but has been kept fairly exclusive in Canada. Unanimous had an actual weaning weight of 985 lbs and a weaning weight WPDA at 3.86 lbs/day and is in the top 30% for calving ease, top 40% for birth weight, top 25% for weaning weight, top 35% for yearling weight. In 2016, we went in search for a new cow family to add to our cowherd.
