Ragnar is a Polled, non dilutor 100% Full Fleckvieh Fullblood. I really love this pedigree. His sire, Drakkar was used on all our first calf heifers last year and did a phenomenal job. Calves came easy with a respectable birth weights and held their own keeping up with the other bulls, weaning off with good weaning weights. Having bulls with calving ease numbers close up in his pedigree, such as Drakkar, Ember, Blueprint, Legend, BEE Battle Cry, and Anchor T supreme, Ragnar should have some calving ease bred in. Good muscle expression, nice head, and great color and pigmentation- this should be an exciting herd bull.

I bought Tina in dam at the two day R Plus dispersal. After seeing all those deep bodied bred heifers coming through the ring carrying a service to WLB Top Tier I had to own one even though we dispersed our herd a couple years before. I would dearly love to keep her but it isn’t our plan to build another herd like we had so this exceptionally deep bodied, “thicker than most” heifer needs to find a good home..I think she’ll hold her own in the show ring but I encourage you to buy her for the brood cow that I think she’ll become.

Chevy is one of a kind. When you analyze him from front to back its hard to fault him. Thick but smooth, large hoof, and a square deep quarter when you get around behind him with abundance of hair. He is kitten quiet as the kids have dragged him up and down the show road all summer and fall. He was crowned Supreme Champion Simmental bull in Harding this summer and Reserve Champion Bull at the Black Gold Classic All Breeds in Virden this fall and the kids can’t wait to show him off at Ag Ex. His sire, Skywest Havoc, was the exciting polledbull Skywest sold in 2021 for a staggering $41000 who’s semen has only come on the market very limited times. Brad & Keegan managed to get their hands on some and was no mistake when using it on Chevys dam Halo. Cow families are so important with us, and anything going back to the Anchor T Krystall cow family doesn’t generally leave the farm. Well let’s just say, Amy won this “conversation” and here she is! Her dam, Lil Star, who is a great great grand daughter to the iconic Krystall cow, has a soft spot at Big Sky. You just can’t beat her type, big barrel, perfect udder and always grabs your eye with her style. Jane looks to be following in her dam’s footsteps. Karmen is as dark red as they come and has a superb disposition. Karmen comes out of one of the most proven cow families in our herd. She’s a direct daughter the of the 3B cow that has knocked it out of the park year after year. We sold a maternal sister that topped the 2019 Keystone Sale. 3B’s 2023 bull calf was shown very successfully all summer, claiming Supreme Champion Bull at multiple milk run shows and also made his debut at Ag Ex. Welcome to the 45th Annual Keystone Konnection sale. To say the least it has been an interesting year; from a dry spring with the crop in early to what looked like an early harvest, then stretching out until October 20th on the grain end. We are thankful for many things as an ample feed supply was put up considering conditions, as well pastures and water holes kept up until late fall with some later rains. In the cattle market end; things have spiked looking promising into the future, making for a little more than normal enthusiasm in the business! As per usual top quality cattle are bringing a premium and that is what we have brought to town for you to analyze. As I sit down to write this footnote, I realize that it’s been four years since we consigned to this sale. We’ve taken that time to adjust to a new marketing plan for our females after moving from Minnedosa to Fisher Branch in 2017. With our change of location and increase in herd size to almost 200 head, we started an annual online sale with DLMS Farm Gate to market the majority of our open heifers, bred females and select frozen genetics since 2020. We really enjoy that marketing strategy and are continuing to host that sale on the first Friday of November each year, but we have also really missed being part of the Keystone Konnection Sale. We have always loved the social outing that comes with this sale, but also, since not very many people make the trip to Fisher Branch, we want to ensure that we are not “forgotten” by the industry. We invest heavily in our breeding program and are confident that our cattle can stand with the best of them. Her dam is our Sage 37F donor who is a direct daughter of WFL Red Sage 506C and a full sister to SVS Betts. 37F has been a powerhouse in production. Her first daughter, Sage 11H, is a fourth generation donor working for us, plus we have three other feature daughters retained in-herd and three ET sons by WTL lead our bull pen this year. 68L is her natural calf and shows that 37F can raise them right. The cherry on top though, is 68L’s sire. Mandate has proven his prepotency in his first calf crop and reaffirms our decision to spend $160,000 to own him. He is the most impressive footed bull I have seen, is extremely sound on the move, adds length, shortens gestation, and offers a unique combination of calving ease and performance that isn’t replicated by many sires. A beautifully constructed daughter of the popular WTL from a top cow family in our program. Her great granddam sets the bar for consistency and maternal strength in production and has been added to our donor roster for 2024. We have retained nearly all of 9B’s daughters in-herd, but we selected her 2023 daughter by WTL to sell as a feature in our Online Female Sale on November 10 this year. 5L’s dam is young but has impressed in production thus far, raising a standout in 5L and one of our top red bulls last year. She adds a different twist to pedigree with being a daughter of Crimson Tide, a bull who was held highly exclusive and is mothered by a gorgeous donor from the Silver Towne Farms program in the US. STRIKER CATTLE CO. 23 years of missing the Simmental business, the people involved and of course the cattle. Tyler’s interest was the excuse needed to rekindle the spirit. It is our hobby, but we do take it seriously. Tyler, his wife Lindsay and their 4 children live on an acreage south of Brandon that is now home to Striker Cattle Co. My wife, Sheree and I (Kim) live in Brandon. Over the last couple of years we have purchased a handful of what we feel are very strong females and are constantly researching sires to compliment these cows. We have done some embryo work to help form a solid base to our herd as well as produce progeny that are hopefully appealing to the industry. So looking forward to being a part of the Keystone Sale.
