The stage for Quality Control IX is being set and without a doubt during these unprecedented times in the cattle industry, this sale will once again be arguably the best one stop shop of the 2025 fall sale run. Never before has there been more of an opportunity present itself to justify surrounding yourself with the highest quality of stock you can source, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Indian River year after year. The Elmhirst family has held nothing back and dove incredibly deep into their cowherd to bring you their very best Simmental & Angus genetics and it is evident the loyal group of consignors to this sale have done the same. On behalf of Billy, Juanita and family as well as all the great outfits that make this sale group up, we would like to invite you and welcome you to this exciting event.
Every fall the Quality Control sale catalogue is anxiously awaited by cattle enthusiasts to be posted. The rich depth of pedigree, phenotype and winning history that has run through the IRCC and friends prefixes is as impressive as anywhere in the land. This years offering not only offers as many high quality show heifers as ever before but likely more big time donor prospects as ever before. Many recognizable and proven cow families are represented with roots in both the show ring and production with many of each breeds hottest sires showing up as well. One of the biggest favours you can do yourself is purchase a female out of the QC, have the capable show teams campaign them the rest of the fall, and just show up on the coat tails and have some fun. The long list of impressive accolades and the 15 consecutive years of Premier Breeder status in the Simmental barn for the Elmhirsts speaks to their cattle, talent and dedication. They along with these great people consigning are some of the real good folks in the industry and the right kind you want to do business with.

The October 4th weekend is an exciting one in Ontario for sales and we encourage you to make plans to take them all in and end up in Indian River Saturday night for some hospitality before the sale Sunday afternoon. The hospitality, people and cattle are great and truly best enjoyed in person. We understand everyone’s busy fall schedule however and if you are unable to attend, please be sure to contact any of the folks selling cattle or any of us at BMS, we would be happy to visit with you and talk cattle. We hope to see you at IRCC!

JUNIORS WE ARE HERE TO HELP!!
With both the YCS National Classic and National Angus Showdown here in Eastern Canada we will gladly board 2025 show prospect purchases for those events until next summer to allow youngsters from far and wide an opportunity to be part of those 2 amazing national events. Summer shows are our teams favourite so you can rest assured your heifer will be handled and prepared to the best of our ability. There’s nothing quite like watching a young Junior heading to the ring with a dialed in IRCC heifer hunting for glory. Contact
Welcome
The excitement in the cattle business is reaching a fevered pitch and still the markets creep higher daily, obliterating records at all levels creating an unprecedented time to be raising livestock. That same enthusiasm is building for Quality Control IX as we assemble and offer as deep and elite a set as ever has graced the lawns at IRCC. Cover to cover, front to back the opportunities abound in both breeds with an added attraction of a couple red Angus. With both Junior National shows in eastern Canada you can bet the cream of the crop is on offer so we can watch and help juniors excel with cattle from Quality Control. We as always will continue our Junior Incentive program and also NEW this year is the Judging Contest inspired by Katie’s experience at college. Set up to engage youth to seriously study the structure, build and sheer quality of the sale offering. Both online and live contest winners will receive sale credits (and swag) to help youngsters with their purchasing budget should they choose. We have documented throughout this catalogue many success stories that include showring glory with past purchases but even more impressive, are the multitude of production highlights that truly represent the breeding strength available in QC. Quality Control has become an “event” that is part of an exciting Simmental and Angus weekend in Ontario. We’d like to welcome and encourage one and all to be part of the fun at the presale Saturday night, tackle the judging contest online or in person and come October 5 to see for yourselves the offering that each year lets us call the sale Quality Control. The Bohrson team as always will be available to discuss the opportunities available and feel free to reach out to them, the consignors, our new internet provider DLMS or any of us here at IRCC if you need assistance participating in QC IX.

We’re leading off with one that writes her own introduction. This Trustee daughter is a maternal sister to our famous “Bombshell” female that brought $37,000 back in 2016, a cow that stamped her place in our program and in the industry. This red baldy carries every bit of that same quality and then some. She’s bold-bodied and robust in her rib shape, square and heavy-muscled with an attractive skull and the kind of foot design that gives you confidence to build around her. Beyond the look, her genetic backing makes her a true breeding piece with donor written all over her. Champion at her only 3 outings this show season, she will be geared up for the fall run and suspect with her early unique service to a bull that adds quality, her most glorious days might be as a 2 year old. Out of a 16 year old that isn’t done yet, this lead off is as similar in her build to the great “Darlin as we’ve had yet. Lot 1 for a reason, this one is as complete and versatile as we can make them. Bred to IRCC CADD LEGIT on March 31 and checked safe. 1/2 interest sells.

Only because we have a full sister does this heifer become available as we bought these embryos to inject the combination of 2 of our most famous and prolific cows back into our program. Moderate and massively built with tremendous muscle, she can also obviously strike a pose, while her maternal lineage speaks for itself. A big time visitor favourite here, we will retain a flush on this elite breeding piece. Bred to IRCC DbarD Kaboom 205K on April 19 and checked safe.

Here is one that can just flat do it all. Bold and buxom to raise herdbulls, soft and sensible to make an efficient cow, pretty and balanced to show, while structurally sound so she will do it for a long dang time. More proof of just how productive IRCC show heifers become, as this calf ’s two-year-old mother was a many-time champion. There hasn’t been a single person through the barns who hasn’t tripped over this one, and I expect a big crowd in her lot sale day. Owned with Patrick Leahy

Some heifers just make it easy, and this one is the definition of fault-free. Refined, elegant, and so uniquely put together it almost feels unfair to the rest of the barn. Bold-bodied, flexible, and packed with the right kind of breeding look, she’s the piece everyone gravitates toward. We even went so far as to name her after one of the most popular jewelry trends out there, because like the necklace, she’s stylish, timeless, and in high demand. Simply put, she’s the barn favorite for a reason, and the kind you’ll regret letting someone else wear home.

This one has already proven she can hold her own in the ring, standing Res. Calf Champion in both rings at the Double Feature and most recently again in Barrie. Super haired and strikingly long-necked, she reads every bit like a show heifer but still has the kind of build that points straight toward a lasting cow career. Flexible, fault-free, and backed with the right kind of design, her post-turnout value is hard to ignore. When she’s done showing, she’s the kind you can rely on to raise profitable, functional calves that look a lot like her... or, with the right mating, maybe even better. A true breeding piece with the extras to shine now and the structure to deliver later.

Backed by the famous 8543U cow on the bottom side and a direct daughter of the absolute legend Broker, should be enough to attract any astute cowman. Then factor in that her dam’s production record includes “pick of the crop” in 2023 to Matt Albrecht, that was Junior Calf Champion at the National Classic, and then the 2024 Royal Winter Fair Calf Champion that sold to Mercedes and Tim Oreilly in QCXVIII.
Finally, top that all off with the numerous accolades this enticing lot has already achieved as Calf Champion in both Ring A and B at the Trillium Classic, as well as Calf Champion at the always competitive Tweed Fair. Not a lot more we can do here, folks, so just latch onto the latest in a long line of great Brokers from IRCC and enjoy the ride.

Big time opportunity here in a maternal sister to the one the only Darlin 613D. It’s almost remarkable how one cow can annually produce a feature top end daughter to highlight Quality Control but the 12 year old dam of this heifer has the breeding and productive potency to get it done. Since that record breaking day when Darlin started on her road to prominence selling to Mader Ranches and Erixon Simmentals, we’ve sold other distinguished sisters to DunMac Farms, Canadian Donors, Rick-Sha Farms, RockEdge and Cameron Ranching. Extra body, more frame and a maternal look accompany this heifer that all your friends and neighbors will be asking about after they hear you have a sister to the great Darlin.

This heifer is a brood cow in the making and there is no reason she won’t produce like her dam, Mader Penthouse 91D. Her sire JF Back in Black produced multiple show division winners, ‘Royal’ Champions and high sellers for Black River over the years. Her full sister Black River Playmate 18H was the high selling calf at $15,000 to the great program at Rainbow River Simmentals in Quality Control IV. You can’t go wrong with these deep Mader pedigrees which produce endless possibilities. AI bred to LKCC Bold Venture for an early February calf. Preg Checked Safe for Feb 4/26. Likely the most talked about and highly anticipated mating we have ever had at IRCC. It would be ridiculous to list the accolades and production record of her dam because everyone in the Angus business just knows.... its Erica 74A. Then just study the picture, check her video or better yet see her in the flesh on the lawns at IRCC on sale day. She will not disappoint. Juniors take a look here!! If someone is looking for a project for next year, take this girl into consideration. She’s coming in a bit greener condition, but I think her best days are ahead of her! She has a striking look on the profile and carries herself proudly on the move and not too mention HAIRY!
Neat cross of style and production in her pedigree being out of the Right on Time bull and being raised by a highly productive Resource momma cow. Consigned by RMF Angus. RMF

83M is sexy and she knows it. Super dark red with a beautiful hair coat. She’s fluent in motion and stands on solid black feet. Her dam, 373J has gone 3 for 3 with her first son being kept here at Walsh Farms as a herd bull. She has a flawless udder structure and the foot quality we all strive for in the red angus breed.
Bred for mid-end February to the calving ease specialist Red Ter-Ron Lightning 66L. His calves come easy and show explosive growth. Look to add this gal to your herd to continue a long line of maternal greatness! Consigned by Walsh Farms.

17M is heavy structured, yet super sound at the ground. She combines femininity with bold features. An impressive set of EPDS back this tank ranking herself in the top 1% for weaning weight and top 2% for yearling weight. Her dam, 541K is a powerhouse from Six Miles Bayberry cow family, getting set to wean off another top tier heifer this year. We’re confident she will land herself in the donor pen. The real ticket is the calf she’s carrying. Bred to Mr Wick 77L, a son of the legendary Red Six Mile John Wick 882E. 77L had an impressive show career where he and his pen mates landed reserve champion pen of bulls at NWSS. Due to calve early February. Consigned by Walsh Farms.
