MEET OUR RANCHERS
Q: Ranching isn’t easy. What inspires you to do it?
A: “What inspires me every day is that we’ve started something that isn’t over yet. It’s just the beginning,” Emmanuel says.
“We love what we do, so giving 100% all the time comes naturally,” Camille adds.
Q: Why is it important to restore the land better than you found it?
A: “When we first came here, we saw what happened to land when no one took care of it. It was abandoned. Sure, there were pastures, but they weren’t as green as they are now,” Sabrina shares. “So now, if we’re working to conserve natural resources, reduce our carbon footprint or recycle waste, we’re doing it to ensure the land never looks that way again.”
Q: What would you like to say to someone enjoying the beef you raise?
A: “If I could say anything, I’d say ‘thank you.’ Whether it’s a chef using it on a menu or a customer cooking a dish, we appreciate their support,” Sabrina says.
The Chenail Family, Havelock, Québec
Caring for Ranch Covey Hill and the cattle that call it home is Emmanuel Chenail’s dream and reality. Since he was young, Emmanuel wanted to raise cattle and often shared that goal with his wife, Brigette, and their three children, Sabrina, Camille and Raphael. In 2018, after finding a plot of land needing some extra attention, the Chenails decided to leave the family construction business and begin a new journey. They transformed the ranch into the perfect place for Angus cattle and future generations with the help of a few employees who’ve been with the family ever since. It’s still a work in progress, as any ranch is, but the Chenails are happy to call it home.
One of many ranching families raising the best Angus beef.
