Sale Welcome With great pleasure, we would like to welcome you to our second annual Future Legends Simmental Bull Sale! We would also like to express our utmost gratitude to those who have supported us through the years. Whether it be the moral and physical support from our family and friends or the confidence our bidders and buyers have in our programs, we cannot thank you all enough for appreciating our passion for the cattle industry. Steve and I have really focused on the consistency, thickness and performance of our bull pen this year. We have undergone another expansion, growing the herd up to 140 head, still featuring both polled and horned Full Fleckvieh and Fullbloods. Featured this year will also be our first offering of BLL Kalibre calves. The performance, calving ease and temperament that comes with his calves is remarkable. Since taking over from my dad, we have really put our own stamp on the herd and allowed my parents to fully retire and spend their time between home in BC and with the cattle in Alberta. My two-year-old daughter has also quickly claimed the roll of Cow Boss, and with her help, the temperament of our cattle is phenomenal. Brett and Chris have continued to focus on offering bulls with calving ease, color, hair, exceptional growth and wonderful temperaments. Highlighted again this year will be sons out of Black Gold Wispers Shadow whose strength is producing progeny with exceptional calving ease along with good growth. The first group of Sibelle Goliath sons will also be featured in their lineup this year. The performance that comes with this sire group will be one to take note of not to mention the color and hair. Not only do they bring a strong set of bulls to town, but a wonderful work crew with an attitude that lights up the sale barn. The motivation and passion shown by the next generation is surely a highlight on sale day. Steve and Tracy strive to offer performance, calving ease heifer bulls along with thick polled and horned fullbloods. The diversity in their program offers their customer base a wide selection of herdsire prospects. Their bull battery is one to watch for with the addition of Black Gold Bryck and SBV Mark 711F bought in partnership with Lockhart Valley. Their lineup will feature the first polled calves out of their new Black Gold bull and don’t forget to watch for the first of the SBV Mark 711F bulls next year. Their appreciation, love and gratitude for their daughter Ashley is truly one to admire, with Ashley taking time from her fulltime job to help on the farm during calving, haying or whenever help is needed. We warmly extend our invitation to share this day with us and evaluate the bulls on offer. We understand the uncertainties that come with the changing ways of our world. Therefore, we happily will offer whatever help you are comfortable with when selecting a bull best suited for your program. Feel free to reach out to any of us or stop in to check out the bulls on farm anytime prior to the sale! Christel Humbke On behalf of the Future Legends Bull Sale Group

Our 1st bulls to sell out of Goliath and we are excited. Goliath has met and exceeded out expectations. From the dark liver red color, to taking a lot of the horns off. The calves are standouts from birth, small heads wide tops. The replacement heifers are looking every bit as good and looking forward to seeing them mature and have their 1st calves next year.
Goliath 04E
Diluter free. Horsepower has been the eye catcher in the pen since the start. He is thick and stout. His dam is a beautiful young cow, but by no mistake, having Titan and Rowan in her pedigree makes it a no-brainer, both bulls made tremendous females and can be found in just about every cow on the place. Diamond has a son , B Bar C Formula, at MGM Cattle Co. Don’t be fooled by Horsepower’s birthweight, he has lots of performance behind him.

Polled. Diluter free. Hemisphere is the last calf of our Camilla 3R. At 16 yrs old she came up open and we made the difficult decision to let her go. She did a bang up job on this guy. He is black around his eyes and on his tail. He has a beautiful haircoat and his laid back attitude is a pleasure to work with. Has a maternal brother working at Rosebud Simmentals.

Our irreplaceable, tried and true old man. He has been used everywhere in our herd. He has given us everything we could ask for disposition, calving ease, color, growth, pigment, and a polled gene. He is 8 yrs old this year and still looks, walks and acts like a 3 yr old. A real gentleman to have around.
Wispers Shadow
Homo polled. Diluter Free. Harley is as dark as they come. Loads of hair and a wide top line. Homo polled means you can put away the dehorner. Steps out like a cat. Dam is easy keeping and well uddered.

We bought this bull to use on our 2nd calvers. When we saw him we loved his softness, length of spine, and haircoat. He got sick during breeding with a chronic lung infection and had to be euthanized. We only got 7 calves. With those few calves we saw what we were gonna miss. He passed on all the traits we originally liked about him.
Captain 30F
Diluter test pending. Houston is special just because he’s the first bull our son is selling. His small herd tends to produce females. Good females with good udders, good feet and calving ease. Houston is honest, smooth, and soft made. He should produce fairly similar birthweights to his own. His dam is a polled Wisper daughter. Houston has a great laid back attitude.

To say we were excited about Kalibre’s first calf crop is an understatement. It’s always a challenge to find the complete package in a bull but our confidence in Kalibre continues to grow. From his unique genetic makeup to his astonishing muscle and build, this polled bull couldn’t have been a better fit for our program. His calves are vigorous, and man are they sure stamped with his appearance and conformation. The breeding group I put together for him was about as diverse as you could get, yet the consistency on both his males and females is impressive. Although there is not a large group of sons in the sale, we expect he will continue to make waves in the industry and feel this is a good first glimpse. His females are shaping up to be the best in our pen, developing nice udders as well as strong feet. Their temperaments are also something to take note of. We already have a good taste of his calves this year and the enthusiasm continues to build as Kalibre will surely be an idol in our program.
Since day one, Starwest Genesis has been a stand-out. Out of one of our favourite herd matrons, this bull is backed by tremendous maternal strength. ZDS 37Z really holds her own when it comes to weaning off big time bull calves. Her quiet disposition combined with Kalibre’s docility makes Genesis a breeze to work with. Kalibre is stamping his progeny with natural thickness, heavy muscling and wide toplines. Add that to Genesis’ length, sound footing, and eye appeal, and you’ve found yourself a performance bull who will prove his worth rapidly.

A polled, eye appealing Kalibre son who I feel has tremendous potential. He’s complete, well balanced and has great shape. Anchor D Santana has the same beautiful pigmentation and has stamped her this year’s Shooter bull calf with the same attributes. Starwest Pol Hawk’s maternal sister was one of my favourite bred heifers that sold in the Simpower sale in December. His lineage syndicates old school genetics on his sire’s side and combines it with bombproof, proven genetics on his dam’s side.

The cow power and productivity behind Shooter is truly incredible. Double Bar D Banker made his place at Virginia Ranch with his first calf crop averaging just over $15,000. The first of Shooter’s calf crop, we got zero bulls so here is his debut. His first daughters are due to calve any day now and I’m sure loving the udders on all his females. Also something to admire is the hair and colour that Shooter dazzles his calves with, not to mention their depth, bone and sogginess. Now working the pastures at our good friends Andy and Lisa Franke, Shooter is a bull who moves like a cat, is easy keeping and adds performance and thickness to his calves.
Shooter 3E
Style, hair and capacity are just a few of the characteristics that come to mind when describing Starwest Pol Good As Gold. In fact, these are qualities all of our Shooter offspring acquire. His pedigree is one that should intrigue any genetic enthusiast. When buying bulls, one should always focus on cow families which is why I have such confidence in this guy. Starwest Pol Eccentric is large framed, sound footed and about as sweet as they come who also happens to have an exciting Kalibre heifer on side.

As you’ve noticed, our herd is comprised of young upcoming herd matrons and they sure are proving their worth quickly. Grenade’s dam is a farm favourite, being the easiest doing cow around. She’s long spined with a nice hip, a tidy udder and a feminine appearance. We purchased Shooter to add dimension, muscle, and depth to some of our more slender cattle and he didn’t disappoint. Starwest Pol Grenade should work nicely on a wide variety of cows.

Take note of this guy’s birthdate and how well he’s performing. Heavily pigmented and tons of hair, Starwest Hawkin is going to develop into a true beef bull. He showcases his dam’s depth and frame, along with his sire’s muscle shape and thickness. His females will be his strength while producing scale tipping steers in the fall. If you’re looking to add performance, Starwest Hawkin will surely get the job done.

You’ll be stealing a part of my heart when you purchase Starwest Gideon. His dam has produced some heavy hitting bulls over the years. Gideon’s maternal brother, Starwest Ember has done great things for the wonderful people at Rich-Mc Farms. Mona is a bull making machine, producing only a handful of heifers in her career. The Raptor calves show tremendous growth with added rib and frame. When it comes to producing females that last, this lineage is one to study.

A cool combination of calving ease and performance, Starwest Harvey is exactly what we hope for out of our first calvers. Starwest Pol Eagle Eye, also nicknamed Sniper, has become a keystone breeder in our program. His ability to be calving ease but yet still produce progeny with explosive growth is extremely valuable. I have no doubt that our Eagle Eye heifers will be features in our bred heifer pen. If you’re looking for a bull that’ll throw calves with hair, vigor and growth, Starwest Harvey is your guy.

Double Bar D
Double Bar D Spitfire was the bull that got us to where we are today. We’ve had tremendous feedback from cattlemen who have both sons and daughters running in their herd. Our Spitfire daughters are the deepest, quietest and have the best udders on our farm. Spitfire was a doll to work with and his progeny are no different. Top that off with them being big footed, well-muscled, and having large testicular development, the Spitfire sons have left their mark and continue to do so. His genetics are wide spread throughout the country including being the sire to Starwest Bryck and Total Value who have both made quite the impact on Simmental industry. We have never had such confidence in a herd sire as we do with him. Unfortunately, he had to be put down a couple years ago but we continue to use his genetics in our herd and his calves are always highly anticipated.
Spitfire 20X
Starwest Pol Goodison is about as easy doing as they come. One of the darkest bulls in the pen, Goodison is easy fleshing and well balanced. Double Bar D Spitfire never disappoints and his versatility keeps him a reliable breeding choice in our program. His dam was a big bodied female with pigmentation identical to Goodison. Smooth made from his polled head, down his long spine, this bull will produce females with perfect udders, and steers that’ll fill the bank account.

Nicknamed “Gunner”, this bull might very well had been the biggest bull we owned. Having said that, we have yet to touch one of his calves during calving season. They are incredibly vigorous and just come so effortlessly. His progeny are all smooth made, clean fronted and have remarkable length. Demeanour is a big one for us and Gunner was second to none, similar to Spitfire. His daughters are proving to be highly productive and have nice tight udders with perfect teets. It seems like the good ones don’t get to stick around long as Gunner got hurt 2 breeding seasons ago so this will be some of the last his sons to sell.
Loaded Gun 14D
Our NGDB Loaded Gun calves have been known for their immense vigour and calving ease while still having an impressive growth curve. With quite the attractive appearance, Starwest Hurricane has been one of the top picks when touring the pen. He’s smooth through the shoulders while still having plenty of middle and muscle in all the right places. Both his dam and sire have personalities that are second to none. His dam carries herself on strong feet with plenty of hip. Hurricane has that herd bull appearance and will be surely be a quick return on investment.

From the tip of his head, down his lengthy spine, Starwest Pol Grandvill is going to be the perfect hybrid of performance and calving ease. His dam is quickly becoming a rising star in our program and his maternal sister will certainly be one to watch for. 22C has a nice tight udder suspension, and walks with such ease for a deep bodied cow. His tidy front appearance combined with his smooth side profile sets him up to be the perfect candidate to stretch out your more moderate, compact females.

Buying this Bryck son was the start of a new division of genetics for us. We had previously never raised polled genetics before, and were hesitant at first, but with the popularity and the demand of polled cattle we felt it was something we had to get into. This Bryck son is a great addition to our herd. He caught our eye immediately with his natural thickness, solid red coloring, and great structure. His first calves are following in his footsteps and exhibiting the same traits. We used him on everything from power cows to second calvers, solid red cows to spotted and have been happy with the results. He makes them all the same, just like him. As we were nearly done breeding when we bought him, we don’t have many on offer, but If you are looking for a polled bull with performance, check out his sons.
Bryck 73F
Although I’m really happy with all of our bulls offered this year, there is always one or two that stand out from the rest. Hypnosis is one of those bulls. Right from a calf, I have admired him and throughout summer I couldn’t wait to see him on pasture as he seemed to change every time. He’s caught the eye of a few purebred breeders with his solid colored pattern from head to foot, his natural thickness, deep body, and good foot structure, not to mention lots of hair and good temperament. He really has everything going for him. His dam, Reno, has produced a bull every year for me except for a set of twins as a heifer and a bred heifer that sold at the Western Harvest Sale this fall for $10,000 to Maccan Farms. She has sent a bull to every sale we have ever been in and, personally, she has raised 3 of my top 5 bulls ever. I really should be keeping this bull at home for our use, but Reno has a full brother to Hypnosis at side this year that looks to be just as good. Looking to change your herd? Look no further. Although we are pretty certain he is horned, we are waiting for results for polled and dilutor tests. I think I forgot to zero in the scale before I weighed him as I feel his weight should have been higher, but regardless, I feel sale weight will be more accurate. Polled and dilutor test pending.

How excited I was when this guy was born at the farm! I couldn’t put a better color pattern on him, black cherry red, that’s nearly dark purple, and loads of pigment just like his dam. As an added bonus he’s polled and thick, thick. A more moderate framed bull that would be good to use on smaller framed cows. A favourite at the farm this year. Our second polled Black Gold Bryck son on offer. Oasis is a bigger framed bull that will be able to handle those larger cows. His dam is definitely a bull maker and has had a bull in nearly every bull sale we have been in. Oasis has a little bigger birth weight, but this is normal for his dam as she too is a big framed, long spined, 2200lb cow that calves out quick and easy. There’s so much to say about this bull. When we purchased him a couple of years ago from Rendezvous Simmentals at their sale, he was the second, high seller at $27,000. His sire Charles was purchased by Rendezvous for $75,000 from Lockhart Valley Simmentals and the Charles son’s in a matter of a couple of years from the 2 farms have brought in $1,000,000 in revenue. You don’t get that kind of money if they aren’t good. One of Princes sons was one of our top sellers at last years sale and for good reason. Performance packed and dark red. A daughter of Prince sold to Beechinor Bros. this past fall for $9000. Like Charles, Prince likes to put that deep black plum color into his calves along with a ton of hair. I don’t think we have ever had a bull put so much hair into his calves. One of the longest bulls to walk our pastures on a set of strong feet and legs. Can’t beat his temperament. Very easy to work with. His daughters are some of my all, time favourites here and they calved for the first this year and are tremendous mothers with beautiful udders. We are truly lucky to have this bull as our own.
Another favourite of mine this year, Cyrus should have been named Sherman tank. The most solid bull in the pen. Thick, meaty and deep bodied. He has gone from being the youngest bull in the pen to one of the big boys in the pen. Not surprising when you have Prince Charles as your sire. Having 4lbs WPDA on pasture with no creep and just under at yearling while pail fed says a lot about what these genetics can do. His dam will produce this type of bull no matter who she is bred to and is one of the smaller framed cows in the herd. Good maternal in this bull. Shouldn’t have feet or udder problems with him. Again, lots of hair to go with the mix. This is the bull that will add tremendous pounds at weaning and in the feedlot. He will make his new owner money. Cyrus is a darker red bull than what his picture shows.

Lithium is another bull that has caught my eye this year. Out of one of my favourite and a future best cow. They say for every extra inch of spine adds 40lbs on cattle. With that in mind Lithium should raise long calves, without lacking on thickness and barrel, as both parents are long spined. Would never say no to extra rib eye. Should pass on that dark red color as both sides of the pedigree are full of it.

Wayne was named after our daughters friend who passed away unexpectedly. Wayne is a deep barrelled, soggy bull with large goggles. On the bottom going back to LRX Justice, and our own Honeybun should create powerful females with tremendous udders. Not to mention passing on that sogginess in the steer calves. The bulls were acting up on picture day so this really isn’t the best picture of him.

Reaper is another bull that really started excelling on pasture and hasn’t quit since. Out of a cow who didn’t have the greatest start in life being an orphan but it sure doesn’t stop her from raising good offspring. Reaper is a well balanced bull and has overall pretty good EPD’s.

If you like the black cherry red color in your calves, this is the bull for you. Nearly all of the cattle in his pedigree have it. He may not be the biggest bull in the pen or the flashiest but that’s not always a bad thing. We have kept a maternal brother of his to use in our heifer pen this year. I have full confidence his mother is going to give me a powerhouse one day. A full brother of Odin sold in last years sale.

Mission has been a real blessing to have on the farm. Bought to use in our heifer pen, It’s nice when you know that if you miss a heifer calving, chances are everything is going to be ok. You seldom hear that with heifers. We have used Mission for the last 4 years on our heifers and have had great success on the calving end with the calves averaging in the 70-79 lb range and as low as 49lbs and not a twin. You would think with this calving ease that the performance would be lacking. I can tell you that is not the case. I think the best part about the Mission calves are their determination to get up and sucking, usually within 10 minutes of birth and that’s not 1 or 2 of them, It’s all of them. Lots of pigment too. Unfortunately, Mission has grown to be too big to use naturally on heifers now, but we have kept a son of his back to carry on the tradition.
Mission 338D
Tik Tok has exhibited excellent performance coming from a 78lb birthweight. His dam is going to be on of our most powerful cows in the coming years. Her paternal sister, who also has a bull in the sale, is exhibiting the same performance yet both are very maternal, feminine cows. I usually don’t give this title out, but Tik Tok is heifer approved.

Loki is one sharp looking bull. From a smaller framed cow with a picture perfect udder, Loki should be an all around bull that would be a good candidate for smaller cows or second calvers.

This was an unexpected occurrence. We never meant to keep a halfblood male, in reality he is a purebred but we since registered him and he is considered a halfblood, but somehow he slipped through the cracks at banding time and am I glad that he did. He really has impressed me. His dam is a going to be a super producer in the coming years. She is a paternal sister to SVA 569E who also has a bull in the sale. With Mission on the top side and Justice on the bottom side, I think is going to be a powerful combination once these bulls mature. Recommended to use on second calvers or smaller cows.

Chandler has been a staple name around here for the last few years. He’s been heavily used on everything from second calvers to performance cows and has calved easily on all without lacking on the performance. He’s dark red and at 8 years now we haven’t touched a foot of his. He makes his calves consistent in type and probably delivers the biggest barrelled calves ever on the place. They are really soggy. A Chandler son was one of our high sellers last year going to the Erskine Colony. You will be impressed with the calves.
Chandler 143A
When it comes to the Chandler bull calves it always a debate as to which one do I write about first. That’s not a bad thing since any one of them could be the starter in this group. I decided to start with Underworld since he is the “baby” of the Chandler sons and has had the most comments from visitors in the pen. Underworld is an absolute tank of a bull. Super soggy and thick and moves like a cat. His dam, we call her BEE2, was one of the high sellers at the Fleck Equation a few years back and has matured into a moderate framed excellent uddered cow. For being a month or more younger than his pen mates, he is one of if not the biggest boy in the pen now. He had a WPDA of 4.10lbs/day on pasture with no creep. Bee2 has another bull Chandler bull calf at side and he is my pick of the calves so far. Don’t overlook this fellow. Once the hammer comes down, he’s gone.

Kensley was the big boy in the pen this year at weaning and at yearling this year. He may have a little extra age on him compared to a couple of the other bulls but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that having an actual weaning weight of 1028lbs Aug.23 and actual yearling weight Dec 7 of 1322lb on no creep means he will put performance in your calves. Plain and simple. His dam is another strong producer for us and will be bred to our polled bull this year. Told you it was hard to decide which bull to start the Chandler group with.

I think Freyr is the most unique looking bull in the pen. Large goggles on one half of his face makes him stand out. Another good Chandler son from a dam who has had a bull in every sale we have been in. Jojo has only ever had one heifer and she is a dandy Prince Charles daughter. Lots of pigment on both sides of the pedigree here.

Riverdale is another soggy Chandler son out of a top producing female who makes them the same no matter who she is bred to. Maybe I’m just partial to his dam, but Riverdale has stood out in the pen for me. I think he is the type of bull that will bring extra dollars in the fall when his calves are sent to market.

Hades is our only United bull on offer this year. With the purchase of some of our new herd sires we didn’t breed as many cows to United as usual. Just by looking at him you can tell he is a United son. United throws consistency in his calves whether they are bulls or heifers. Shylo is another one of those cows in the herd who always manages to raise the good ones that make it to the sale. Looking to keep replacement heifers, look no further.
