We really shouldn’t be parting with what many figure is our best heifer calf of 2019, and Soda Pop 425B’s best calf yet. We appreciate the rib shape and power 90G possesses, while still being nice skulled and good necked. 90G has a very attractive set to her rear leg and moves around effortlessly. Along side her 2017 undefeated National Champion dam, they were just named the Grand Champion Simmental Female at Lloydminster’s Stockade Round-Up, with a yearling Soda Pop heifer following up with Reserve. When I first spotted Captain Scream and Soda Pop 425B at Farm Fair 2017 I knew they were Simmentals I wanted to incorporate in our herd. They had previously won Supreme at PA-EX and Grand Champion at Lloydminster and went on to both win Grand at FarmFair and Agribition. I was happy to purchase 3 embryos at Agribition and was very elated to get this heifer and 2 black bulls. I think some higher power knew I was a Black Angus breeder and made sure they were all black. This heifer is incredibly stout, hairy and sound made. She could quite easily have been shown this fall and into the future but her true value will be her production value going ahead. I’m sure once you see her and her pedigree speaks for itself, you will realize she is the real deal with a bright future ahead of her.

As the first Sage embryo heifer calf born here, I never thought we would let her go but here she is! We wanted to bring a heifer calf to showcase the Capacity progeny and feel Sage 901F is a prime example.

She has been impressive from an early age and continues to impress us with her correct structural lines, large rib shape and disposition. After a late fall tour at Rancier’s in the fall of 2017 there was one bull that stuck out, but what was more impressive than him was the four generations of females that backed him up. That bull was Capacity and we knew he had to be a part of the program here. The maternal strength in the RF Famous cow family combined with consistency and power of Westcott was something we felt would improve our program and so far, the results have been excellent. Two maternal sisters from our incredible Paparazzi sired cow Red Carpet, who has produced top selling, high quality females for us before. As I write these footnotes, a full sister to 910G will headline our offering at Simpower and a full sister to 929G, CMS Shagg 752E was our high selling lot at FNL in 2017 selling to Diamond K for $15,000.00. Quality runs deep in these two heifers, not only maternally but through their sires as well.

SIRE Muirheads Identity is a bull we sampled after I saw first hand just how outstanding his progeny are. He provides great foot structure and muscle as well his daughters all have impeccable udder quality. 929G’s sire, CMS Empire, was our high seller in 2015 going to John Francois Lebland in Quebec. We have sold many sons in our bull sales sired by him and his daughters are heavy haired with tremendous udders. We always bring our best to sell each fall and these two heifers are definitely a couple of our best in 2019! They are both very well muscled, deep sided and heavy haired. Felipa is the most exciting heifer to come out of our red pen. Felipa is a heifer with a load of performance and has stood out in the heifer pen since last fall. I really admire the structural correctness, deep body and performance that Felipa exhibits. Her dam 21C is a very complete female as well, a very hard working Red Force daughter out of one of my favourite red cows Alba 64A. 64A might be the most consistent red cow that we own, i look forward to her calf every year. I’d really like to brag some more on SVS Brooks 669D, but honestly I believe his performance and consistency speaks for itself and I’m extremely happy with what Brooks has done for our herd. When we bought him, I really couldn’t believe what I had just done, all I could think of was how do I tell the wife about this one !! We are really excited to bring this heifer to town for FNL this year.

Ferda is a female that has really stuck out and impressed us since she was a calf. Her damn is a direct daughter of our LFE 40X one of the first black cows we bought from Lewis farms when we started our Black program. 40X is a cow the Consistently produces a top calf for us each year. Ferda sire is SVS Brooks, a bull that has become very popular in the simmental industry. Brooks is a bull that has completely changed our breeding program and the most consistent herd sire we have ever used.

This one has the look that makes you look! 51F only went to one show and she was Reserve Champion Commercial Yearling at Olds Fall Classic. Her mother is a massive bodied cow that has a great udder and really milks. She is 9, although she looks 5. She has raised two bull sale bulls and every other calf has made a replacement female. We are so excited to be a part of this sale this year, so we brought out one of the oldest cow lines that we have on the farm. This bred comes from our “Bug” line of cows, that originated from an old Maine/Angus cow that we loved to bits, and all of the females are “keepers” here. There is never more pressure put on a herd bull in his first year of production and even more so when he is labeled as a calving ease bull. Well Inscription made a homerun in his first year. The calves were born easy and had lots of go. Flare stems from a cow family of extra volume and capacity, the dark red colour in pretty much all of the progeny, but most importantly their ability to milk heavy and bring in the right type and kind year after year. Her dam, Moderation 32W, has recently produced two top sons that sold in our bull sale for good dollars, and her last heifer calf sold at Agribition for $10,500 to Diamond M Ranch. Her Grandam TH 11N, has 14 progeny registered to her name, and was an amazing producer and donor right up until 13 years old. Angel is a special one! The best Captain Scream heifer we have ever raised, 2G has been a favorite her whole life. At one point we had intentions of showing her along side her extremely dark red, good footed, Royal Red dam. Back in March of 2018 we were looking for some embryos. We wanted two main things in these embryos, a fresh pedigree for us as well as embryos that we knew would make fantastic females.

We found what we were looking for closer to home than expected when we purchased these embryos from the Archdekin’s at Speers, sk. Timberland is undoubtedly a fantastic female! She is a full sibling to Vanity Fair, the cow that we have been campaigning this fall. Vanity is a pretty ideal female in our eyes, she is sound, she has a lovely udder and if you saw her bull calf you know she can raise a heck of a calf! We fully expect Timberland to turn into the same type of cow as her sister. When you get a look at Timber you cannot miss just how eye appealing she really is. She has a gorgeous bald face with excellent skull shape and sports an ideal coat of hair. Timber will be a fun one to watch develop over the next couple of years.
