TO OUR PROGRAM

We warmly welcome you to please join us for our 13th Annual Open Book Invitational Sale! We take great pride in how this event has evolved and the achievements it has celebrated over the years. This sale has become a premier opportunity not only to evaluate and acquire leading genetics but also to enjoy a vibrant Angus social gathering. That’s why we’ve chosen to continue a traditional live auction format, where every animal comes through the ring. We’ve cherished the lively atmosphere that this sale brings, and we invite you to experience it for yourself on Saturday, October 25.

We’re in a thrilling era for Angus cattle and the beef industry. Seriously, the prices we’re seeing are history-making and it is a rewarding time to be in the beef industry. The market for high-quality livestock has never been this promising, so it’s the perfect moment to evaluate and elevate your herd. Now’s the time to take action—cull those less-than-stellar cows and replace them with top-tier genetics that will boost your profitability and success.

As a family-operated business, our entire livelihood revolves around our cattle. This commitment drives us to build and nurture an exceptional cowherd capable of producing sought-after genetics. Our goal is to create value for our customers while providing our family with the fulfilling life we cherish. While we are a family operation, we are grateful for the support we receive throughout the year from many dedicated individuals. Your contributions are invaluable, and though the list is long, you know who you are, and we thank you sincerely.

This year, we are proud to showcase a fantastic group of consignors who have consigned an excellent offering. We want to thank our customers for their unwavering support. As our family and operation grow, we find ourselves busier than ever with sports, school activities, junior shows and ranch responsibilities. While we wish we could visit every customer, our schedules sometimes limit our ability to do so. Nonetheless, we deeply appreciate each one of you who has supported this sale.

We hope to see you on sale day! Make sure to stay for a steak supper and fellowship. If you can’t make it, rest assured that our exceptional sales staff will be on hand to assist you with any needs you may have.

BROOKING ANGUS RANCH - RADVILLE, SK

SALES MANAGEMENTWelcome from

On behalf of our Bohrson Marketing team, we are excited to welcome you back to the Brooking Angus Ranch Open Book Invitational. In some ways it is hard to believe that this is already the 13th Edition of this sale - but in other ways, when you think back to all the high quality females that have come through this event, it sure does get to be an extensive list. This has grown to be an annual highlight on the Angus calendar in Canada and across the globe. We sure hope you can join us near Radville, SK for another prestigious event on October 25, 2025.

The Open Book Invitational is more than just a sale, it is a showcase of elite Angus genetics and a testament to the dedication, vision, and breeding philosophy of the Brooking program and their customers. Each year, this sale sets the standard for quality and consistency, and 2025 will be no exception. Whether you’re a seasoned breeder or a progressive newcomer to the Angus business, this offering is designed to elevate programs and fuel long-term success.

This year’s lineup is as powerful and progressive as we’ve ever seen—featuring the elite heifer calves this sale has become known for along with the annually deep set of bred heifers and exclusive embryo matings that represent the absolute top of the breed. An exciting highlight for 2025 is a feature donor cow that is still young but already has a proven flush history. These females have been meticulously selected not only for their individual merit but also for their high quality, unique genetics.

Over the years, the Open Book Invitational has become synonymous with success, with countless past lots going on to become influential donors, show champions, and cornerstone females in leading herds across North America. One of the really cool things is the consignor group, both new and those that consign every year, that are part of the fabric of this event and bring their best to be part of the success and excitement.

We encourage you to join us in person at the ranch on October 25, where the hospitality is as genuine as the cattle are elite. For those unable to attend, we at BMS are proud to know these cattle intimately and are happy to assist you with any part of your selection process. The sale will also be broadcast live on DLMS.ca, so one way or another we will see you at Brooking Angus Ranch for a memorable day in the Angus business.

Donation Heifer

We are very excited to announce we will be doing another donation heifer. We are going to give away one of our top end heifers to a junior between the ages of 8-18. To win the heifer, an entry needs to be purchased in the name of a junior that is an active member of 4-H or a junior association and is a Canadian citizen. We will draw a name and that lucky junior owns this heifer! 7 more names will also be drawn and they will receive up to $2000 bursary to purchase a heifer (heifer calf or bred heifer) from any breeder, (purebred or commercial) in Canada. Proof of purchase is required. The funds will be transferred directly to the seller of the heifer. Purchase must be made by December 31, 2026.

A maximum of 140 entries for $100 each will be on offer and all of the money raised will be donated directly back to our junior’s future herds! You may purchase more than one entry per junior but can only win once. If you have been lucky enough to have won the heifer in previous years you are not eligible to participate.

Thank you for all the support

$75,000 has been given back to these juniors & junior organizations by funds raised from the last 7 years of donation heifers.

We are extremely proud that, over the past decade, the females selected for the Lot One position have consistently gone on to achieve remarkable success. We believe Brooking Royal Lass 5156 is the kind of female who will uphold that tradition.

On individual appraisal, she exemplifies the ideal in both type and kind. We admire her beautiful head, balanced structure, level hip, deep flank, added substance, and strong maternal presence. Her dam is one of our absolute favourite young cows—a true standout. With her attractive, alert expression, broody maternal look, massive rib shape, wide hip, strong udder, and captivating athleticism, she is nearly without equal.

A maternal sister, Brooking Royal Lass 4207, sold at last year’s sale for $70,000 to a group of elite breeders from Mexico and Argentina—El Sauz, San Martín, Tres Marías, and Resolano. She went on to win her division at Agribition, the Lady Elaine Bracket show, and was named Supreme Champion Female at Young Ranchmen’s.

Madame Pride

Brooking Madame Pride 5025 will no doubt have a lineup of friends come sale day—just like her sister in last year’s event. If you appreciate heifers that combine rib shape and dimension with extra bone, ideal teat placement, striking eye appeal, and a stout, powerful build, this female deserves your attention. A maternal sister commanded $70,000 in last year’s sale, selling to Stormy River Ranch. Her dam is a shared cow with Roger Reynolds and was purchased from the renowned Schaff Angus Valley program. SAV Madame Pride 8037 continues to impress every visitor to the ranch with her mass, fleshing ability, ideal udder structure, soundness, fertility, and overall productivity. The Emerald daughters are developing into tremendous brood cows, and Brooking Madame Pride 5025 follows that same path. If you’re in search of a future donor with elite maternal potential, make sure this heifer is marked in your catalog.

BROOKING Juanda 5045

2419761 - JSTN 45N - Jan 08 2025 - BW 80

When Poplar Meadows Angus hosted their major cowherd reduction sale, there was one female we knew we had to own. In partnership with Coleman Angus and Canadian Donors, we secured PM Juanada 101’19 as the high-selling lot of the event. We are strong believers in Natural Law, and PM Juanada 101’19 embodies the kind of cow that has made him a household name in the Angus breed. Brooking Juanada 5044 follows that same mold—well made, level-topped, deep-bodied, and deep-flanked, all complemented by an ideal Angus head. The Emerald

outstanding combination for us, and we fully expect this heifer to carry on that same tradition of quality and performance.

Rose 5165

An absolute genetic treasure. Soo Line Rose 1019 has been a cornerstone female for Brooking — a true production powerhouse responsible for many of our high sellers and influential breeding pieces. We sadly lost Rose 1019 this past August at 14 years of age, marking the end of an incredible era in our program. With that in mind, this may very well be the last daughter of Rose 1019 we will ever offer. Sired by the exciting outcross sire Hummel Argentine, this female represents a rare and valuable opportunity — a true sale highlight with genetics that have stood the test of time.

Sire

I really like this heifer — she’s our kind. WFL Black Ruby 5505N is a true powerhouse, yet remains attractive and feminine in her design. I admire her head and the way she naturally carries it high. She’s bold and big-ribbed, wide-hipped, long-bodied, and blessed with that soft, easy look complemented by great hair. Her dam is an easy-fleshing, deep-bodied, good-uddered female with extra power and mass. Golden Oak Preacher 333L, the sire acquired by Westway Farms for $70,000, continues to stamp his progeny with consistency and style. Heifers like WFL Black Ruby 5505N have the look and quality to be competitive in the show ring, but more importantly, they possess the maternal strength and structural integrity to become truly potent breeding pieces.

We selected two outstanding females to represent SAV Theory in the heifer calf section — and they are truly the productive kind. Our Theory progeny continue to impress with their extra length, muscle shape, straight top lines, structural integrity, hoof quality, and maternal presence. The dam, Blairs Instinct 762D, is a model Angus female — angular-fronted, good-footed, nicely uddered, heavy milking, and beautifully wedge-shaped. A maternal brother, Brooking Headliner, was a past Lot 1 and the high-selling bull in our 2023 sale, commanding strong attention and selling to W Sunrise. These genetics represent proven performance, maternal quality, and long-term value — the kind that consistently move a program forward.

Brooking Annie 5062 is long-bodied, straight-topped, and designed with true maternal function. Her dam ranks among the most eye-appealing and best-uddered Renovation daughters on the ranch — a picture of balance and productivity. We’ve always admired SAV Anthem, especially seeing him as a mature bull roaming the hills at Schaffs — he’s an impressive specimen. His dam, SAV Madame Pride 3145, is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful Angus females in existence, and it’s no surprise that the Anthem daughters and flush sisters are turning heads for their quality and consistency. Adding even more strength to the pedigree, the grandam, Brooking Annie 307, was the Lot 1 female in our first-ever female sale and has since proven herself as an incredible donor in production. When I toured their program this past summer, it was clear they had the strongest calf crop I’ve seen yet. Without question, this is the best consignment we’ve ever received from them. This Blair’s External Law daughter is a standout — stoutfeatured, bold-bodied, and powerfully constructed, yet she carries herself with that unmistakable Angus femininity and style. Her dam, Brooking Annie 307, purchased from our very first female sale, has become a cornerstone donor in the Schwan herd and continues to anchor their program with consistency and quality. Let’s just say it took some serious persuasion to get Gustafson’s Flora 4125 consigned to this sale — and once you lay eyes on her, you’ll understand why. She absolutely stopped me in my tracks when I toured Benji Gustafson’s this summer. As a lifelong fan of Density, I was immediately drawn to her maternal design, softness, and presence — she’s the kind that makes you confident she’ll flat-out work. Then you study her pedigree, and the excitement only builds. She’s a daughter of Merit’s elite donor, Merit Flora 6078, the dam of Merit Investment and several other high sellers. Females out of Merit Flora 6078 are rarely ever made available, making this offering truly special. Gustafson’s Flora 4125 is a fall-born heifer with the

Talk about what maternal looks like. Brooking Bride 5043 is exactly the kind of female we believe great cows should look like at this age — balanced, broody, and beautifully designed. In our 10th Anniversary Sale, we partnered with Coleman Angus and Canadian Donors to acquire Bar-E-L Bride 28C for $100,000, and her stardom has only continued to rise. Since moving to Coleman Angus, she’s become a household name across the Angus breed — admired for her powerful structure, elegant front end, and flawless udder quality. Her influence continues to grow: a flush on Bride 28C recently sold for $75,000 to Voss Angus, and a flush mate is among our very favourites in the bull pen — sure to be a highlight in our upcoming spring bull sale. Brooking Bride 5043 embodies everything we strive for — maternal strength, structural quality, and the kind of look that defines elite Angus females.

What more can be said about Brooking Beauty 333? Her track record speaks for itself. With 162 progeny registered to date, she has produced numerous high sellers, but it’s her unmatched consistency and quality that truly set her apart. Nearly every calf she has sold has brought five figures or more, a testament to her breeding strength and predictability. But instead of listing off her résumé, let me share a short story. In 2012, we flushed our very first cow, TLA Beauty 6R, in a makeshift setup with a chute we found on Kijiji. The next year, those calves produced our first $30,000 female and our high-selling bull—and among that flush was Brooking Beauty 333. Since then, 333 has generated well over a million dollars in direct progeny sales and left an immeasurable genetic legacy. What I’m saying is this: sometimes, just a few embryos can change everything for your program.

Brooking Beauty 7051 is a new addition to our donor lineup—and she earned her place the proper way, through real-world production. She’s been a herdsire factory, stamping her progeny with muscle, power, great feet, and classic Angus character. She’s the kind of female we strive to create: ideal frame size, easy-fleshing, as wide as she is tall, perfect udder, and that unmistakable Angus head. Two of her sons will be part of our show team and on display sale day, while her Emerald daughters are being retained in the herd. Embryos out of the $270,000 Brooking TW 4022 and the $260,000 Coleman Maternal Balance are two incredible opportunities

She is loaded with extra muscle dimension and has a monster-sized hip on her while being this attractive, angular, and maternal female. She is heavy milking with an excellent udder and has turned heads everywhere she’s gone. For those who asked about her after seeing her at Bow Valley—this is your chance to access her genetics.

Brooking Beauty 8062 is a big and powerful female that is big-topped, deep-ribbed, level-hipped, wide-pinned with extra substance of bone, and has huge fuzzy ears on an ideal Angus head. She has a unique and impressive physical appearance that you can pick her out from across the field. She has been a stellar producer as she had the high-selling bull in three different operations’ bull sales in one year. She has also had the second-heaviest weaning bull calf ever to be born at Brooking. How exciting is it to have access to the very first embryos sired by the $270,000 Brooking TW 4022, sold to ZWT Ranch and Canadian Sires.

Brooking Beauty 8187 sold half interest for $80,000 in last year’s sale to KT Ranches. She is an absolute standout—visually striking and one of the most unique donor cows you’ll find anywhere. She combines overwhelming mass, power, and volume with an elegant, feminine presence. Her world-class udder quality and strong maternal character only add to her appeal. I consider her to be one of the very best Natural Law daughters I’ve ever seen—a big statement when you consider this program has produced elite females such as Bar-E-L Erica 74A, Bar-E-L Bride 28C, and Brooking Countess 7077. This cow family is built on fertility, function, and production. Her dam, Brooking Beauty 333, has generated over $1.1 million in revenue, and Brooking Beauty 8187 is well on her way to following in those footsteps. Her most notable son, Rust Forged of Fire, was named Supreme Champion Bull at Farmfair International for KT Ranches. Another son, Brooking Chosen One, was a feature in our 2024 Bull Sale, commanding $45,000, while a daughter brought $50,000 in last year’s Female Sale and went on to earn the “glitter slap” at Farmfair’s Junior Show.

Soo Line Rose 1019 is the very definition of a herdsire factory. Her influence runs deep, with a lineup of powerful sons that have made their mark across the industry. She produced our high-selling bull in 2022, Brooking Next Generation, who sold to Voss Angus, Iowa, for $85,000 and already has exciting progeny on the ground. Her sons read like a who’s who of Brooking genetics—Brooking Major at $70,000, Brooking Real Estate at $47,500, Brooking National at $47,500, Brooking Genesis at $27,500, and Brooking Revival at $25,000—not to mention her high-selling and retained daughters that continue to build on her legacy. We sadly lost Soo Line Rose 1019 this past summer at 14 years of age, but her impact will be felt for generations. This offering represents a rare and possibly final opportunity to acquire embryos from one of the most influential and proven donors to ever walk the pastures at Brooking. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of her enduring legacy.

Brooking Rose 0083 is our favorite daughter of the legendary Rose 1019, and she embodies everything we strive to create at Brooking. For a young cow, she checks every box—beautifully fronted, massive in depth and volume, squarehipped, correct on her feet and legs, and perfectly balanced from end to end. She has that unmistakable presence that turns heads and the kind of maternal design that ensures longevity and production. Several elite programs have tried to buy her, but we’ve always believed she is the rightful heir to Rose 1019’s legacy— the next step in advancing one of the most powerful cow families in the breed. The heaviest bull calf we have ever weaned at Brooking was a son of Rose 0083, proving her ability to produce with power and performance. Her ET progeny by Emerald and Theory are turning heads this year, showing tremendous promise. A standout Emerald daughter has already won multiple shows this summer and will be campaigned again this coming season. Now, with the added influence of the $90,000 Brooking Tradition, this mating has the potential to create something truly special—a big-ticket highlight in the making.

Brooking Rose 9076 is an absolutely mouth-watering, dream female—the kind that stops you in your tracks. She is truly rare in her kind, combining worldclass femininity, power, and a near-perfect phenotype into one stunning package. Without question, we believe she stands among the very best females to ever carry the Brooking prefix. Her dam, Brooking Rose 201, was one of my all-time favorite cows—a remarkable female we sadly lost too soon. She was a full sister to Rose 1019, and many would argue she was our best donor. That influence shines through in 9076, who consistently transmits the same elite quality, style, and presence that made her cow family famous. Every calf she raises is stamped with that unmistakable Brooking look—powerful, balanced, and uniquely special.

Brooking Rose 9129 is quite possibly our favorite Renovation daughter, and for good reason. She mirrors her dam, Brooking Rose 201, in every way—with that same striking style, femininity, and elegance, combined with an ideal udder and flawless phenotype. Her dam is a full sister to Rose 1019, whose influence has been tremendous, and her maternal sister, Brooking Rose 9076, is another standout in the Rose cow family. We won’t part with any of these treasured Rose 201 daughters—the only opportunity to access this bloodline is through embryos. We are especially excited about the mating to Brooking Tradition 4064, the $90,000 powerhouse who is stout-made, heavily muscled, stands on a strong, well-structured foot, and carries himself with quiet confidence. We believe the combination of Tradition’s raw power and Rose 9129’s femininity and maternal strength will result in progeny that perfectly blend look, muscle, and production value—a mating loaded with potential and pedigree.

Brooking Rose 2123 is a new addition to our donor lineup, but anyone who has toured Brooking will no doubt remember her. Sired by the rare and highly popular Brooking Mercury, she is a true power female. While not as angular or refined as some of our other donors, she earns her place in the donor arsenal with her tremendous mass, depth, and substance. Her hip is absolutely massive, with width and dimension that carry deep into her hind leg. She stands on a big, square hoof and boasts a tidy, functional udder, all wrapped in a bold, broody package that commands attention. Mated to the $350,000 SAV Panther, one of the most talked-about and widely admired sires in the breed today, this combination has the potential to create something truly special—an elite blend of power, presence, and pedigree.

We were thrilled to team up with Coleman Angus and Canadian Donors to purchase Bar-E-L Bride 28C as the high-selling cow in our 10th Anniversary Sale for $100,000. She’s a female I’ve admired for years, and it was truly exciting to finally own a part of her. Since moving to Coleman Angus in Montana, Bride 28C has only continued to grow in prestige and admiration across the breed. A flush in Bride 28C recently sold for $75,000 to Voss Angus, further cementing her reputation as one of the most elite Angus females in production today. She is widely considered a model Angus cow—the kind that defines the breed standard for balance, structure, and maternal power. It’s been incredible to hear from people who have seen her in person—many say it felt like meeting a celebrity in the Angus world. Be sure to take a close look at her daughters featured in this sale, and don’t miss her big-league son making waves in the bull pen.
