What a drastic difference a year can make! Last year at this time we were covered with snow and chores were a daily challenge! This year we have very little snow that is on the ground, even though we had a big scare in October with almost a foot of snow dropping. Thankfully it melted away and we were able to graze corn stalks until December and get the rest of the corn combined.

With that being said our keyword for 2024 is REJOICE. As in the past welcome letters I like sharing about my faith and this year we will look at 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. It states, To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

As we look, and meditate on these verses, especially the first part, I am not sure any of us boast or delight in our weaknesses. In fact, in most instances, we try to hide or down play our weaknesses. We try to give this perception that our life is perfect and everything is going just as we planned! I will be the first to tell you that in the last couple years that everything has not been perfect at our place. I personally have had health issues, we have watched our kids go through struggles of life and major surgeries, death of Kyle (Trista’s Dad), and numerous other difficulties’ we have fought through. I will tell you first hand that the first thought that was going through my mind as I was about to get my thyroid removed this year was not to thank God for the surgery that was about to happen! There might have been a few other thoughts going through my mind at that time though ! But we are to rejoice, be thankful, and even boast about our weaknesses! Don’t hide them, allow God to work through you to show everyone that in adversity God still stands beside you and even carries you at times! The end of verse 10 is such a great promise, For when I am weak, then I am strong! Rejoice in your adversity because God is with you!

The years have flown by and as I have looked back on the previous sales from the 1st to the 13th it is unbelievable on the strides our cattle have made! One thing that has stayed consistent and constant is that our bull customers and friends are still the best in the business, hands down! If you are in need of a bull, or just want to show up and enjoy dinner in a positive, friendly environment, and talk with other ranchers, farmers, and business owners about the previous year please do so. One thing I can guarantee is the coffee will be hot and the food will be outstanding!

This year will mark the eighth year we will be offering Age Advantage bulls and we are extremely happy with how the process is going and will continue to offer them each and every year going forward. Don’t worry if you prefer yearling bulls, we will have you covered there as well.

Calving time is an incredible time at the ranch each and every year! We get to see the potential of our new calf crop for next year’s bull and female sales, along with God bringing new life onto this earth! We have had some very interesting and exciting conversations with our kids as they have grown up during this time of the year as well!

Trust me my kids know where babies come from!! We have taken great time and efforts in choosing our herd sire selections (along with our trusted sales staff helping us with this process), so we can thus produce the most optimal cattle possible for you the customer in VOLUME.
