Full Fleckvieh, Non-Dilutor. 22H is definitely one of feature fleckvieh bulls this year, and it’s not shocking to us as he combines the Stuey x Whisper 930W mating that has been so good for us. When you study 84E, good uddered, good footed, big bodied, and awesome coloured are a few traits that seem to come to mind. 22H is a stout, rugged bull that travels with ease, and started with only an 88 lb bw. He was a member of our People’s Choice Champion Pen of Bulls at the 2020 Edam Fall Fair. We always talk about using Stuey less and less each year due to his overwhelming amount of progeny and grand progeny in our herd, but bulls like 22H keep us going back to him. Last year a maternal brother sold to Antrim Simmentals as one of our feature bulls.

We have sold five sons off of her throughout the years and have retained three daughters in our herd. 76H is a rugged, stout featured, bull with a lot of power throughout. Non-Dilutor. We have always put so much emphasis on colour, pigment, and hair in our fullblood herd. We truly think it’s one of the hardest things to breed in the fleckvieh industry and is one of the reasons we are so high on 98H. Full Fleckvieh. Both bulls carry the Dilutor gene. A pair of ¾ ET brothers out of one of our favorite fleckvieh donors. 3W was initially purchased out of the Moose Creek Dispersal, and her first two sons sold here went to Kuntz Simmental Farm and Virginia Ranch; one of which was the $67 000 Black Gold Crude. 3W is one of those females you could make any colour and I still believe she would be donor quality. She recently gave birth to a neat Reputation heifer calf in early January at 12 years of age. These two sons by Stuey and Elevation are great pigmented, good bodied bulls who are ideal in their foot shape and structural build. We have several ET sisters that top our replacement pen, and look forward to getting more 3W daughters in production. Cattle with 3W’s overwhelming body, attractive look, and tidy udder should never go out of style.

This is our first offering of Battle Cry sons and there are 12 on offer. Battle Cry was our go to bull in the heifer pen last year, and we are very impressed with how his calves have grown and matured. Full Fleckvieh, Dilutor. All summer 40H and his dam were deemed one of our best two-year-old pairs, and he continues to impress as he matures into a young herd bull. Extremely loose and soggy made, 40H is a deep ribbed bull with a good haircoat and dark pigmentation. 68F is a favorite among visitors and is a spitting image of her dam. 29X has two daughters retained here, two sold at public auction, and five sons sold through our bull sale that were all full brothers to 68F. Polled, Full Fleckvieh, NonDilutor. Another one of our feature Battle Cry sons. Starting with only an 89 lb bw, he ends up being our second highest performing Battle Cry son. To combine his kind of stoutness of feature, body dimension, and overall muscle is sure hard to do in a polled bull, let alone one born out of a heifer with calving ease credentials. 98F is a nice young cow with a tidy udder and short, pigmented teats. She offers a little bit of a different pedigree for us, and we look forward to her future here. An interesting herd bull prospect with a great temperament.

We acquired Twister as a polled bull that could improve hair coats and add an abundance of power. He did just that and left us with an early maturing set of bulls, that are sure to sire some heavy weaning calves in the future. We lost Twister after an injury early in the 2020 breeding season, and this will be our only sire group to ever sell off him. Non-Dilutor. I can’t remember the last time we had a bull so consistently picked out by visitors all year round. 130H has been a standout due to his overwhelming amount of center body, massive hip, and great big top. The fact that he was blessed with a blood red, thick hair coat definitely helps him stand out in the pen. 130H anchored our pen of fullblood bulls that was the People’s Choice Champion at the Edam Fall Fair. When we combine the performance driven Twister with a powerful Bryck daughter, we get a bull that I’m confident would rival any in terms of muscle mass and overall substance. 130H ranks in the top 4% for WW and 10% for YW, and is one I’m certain will be easily found in Lloydminster on March 13th.

For starters, his dam was acquired as the lead off and high seller from the Gagnon family in 2018. She is a front pasture female and an elite polled, full fleckvieh future donor. Polled, Full Fleckvieh, Non-Dilutor. 195H is an absolute tank of a polled bull, out of Dad’s favorite cow on the place. 35B is a moderate framed, good uddered brood cow, who’s fleshing and milking ability always allows her to wean off a calf similar to her size. A really neat bull here that offers a different pedigree when compared to most red cattle. 73H is a dark red bull out of two blacks, that goes back to the Flirtin With You cow family from the Rancier program. 173E is almost picture perfect in terms of udder quality and is an attractive female with a strong foot underneath her. Her maternal brother was Reserve Intermediate Champion Bull Calf at Agribition in 2018, along with National Champion Bull Calf at the Manitoba Ag Ex. All Homo Polled, 162H & and 176H are Homo Black. We put a lot of emphasis on cow families in our program, and we consider Mollydooker 34C as one of the best Simmental females we have ever seen. That led us to buy embryos mated to the tried and proven legend, Liner 56U. These bulls have been fun to watch develop and grow all year long, and we have never quite been able to figure out a favorite within this trio. The powerful baldy bull of the three offers the most in terms of growth, performance, and shear power. His two solid black companions are a little more moderate in frame, but carry the same bold body shape, overall muscle, and herd-bull look. A high quality haircoat and sound structure are a couple more traits that these brothers have been blessed with. Scurred, Homo Black. When flushing some of our best black donors, we used Firebrand to add some fleshing ability, hair, and overall quality and we feel 151H is a good example of that. He’s a heavy muscled, shapely bull that’s big and soft through the middle portion of his body. Welcome to our 8th annual sale. It is tough to believe it has been 8 years already selling with the Noble family. Add to that, 3 years of selling at the Lloydminster Bull Sale when we first started, puts us at just over a decade of selling fullblood and purebred bulls for commercial and purebred cattlemen alike. We are quite proud of the bulls we have on offer this year as the fullbloods seem to be the most consistent group yet, and we feel the purebreds are most definitely our strongest set of red and blacks we have ever raised. We are stringent on our culling program to ensure the bulls that are on offer are of the highest quality we can put together. We have always said we want to produce reds and blacks that can honestly compete with the fullbloods in terms of performance, muscle pattern, and bone structure and this year we made it happen. Our bulls have been raised on healthy pastures, momma’s milk, and no supplemental creep. They’re developed on a balanced TMR ration right from weaning to sale day designed to show their performance potential, but also to promote longevity and health throughout the life of the bull. Hetero Polled We are starting our catalogue out with one of the best red bulls we’ve raised to date. He isn’t alone in that category either as the group of red bulls we’ve raised this year is by far our best yet. The Impact x Standout mating was a hit. This bull’s granddam is one of the best red cows we had on the ranch – Crossroad Trixie 183T. He’s solid, soggy, structurally correct and a straight up powerhouse. As Stetson says, “he’s a tank!” Backed by proven maternal lineage puts him in the running to sire awesome females. Weaned off at 1070 lbs, he’s a bull that’s always been a front runner and must be appreciated for his extreme depth, thickness, and style.

Hetero Polled Dilutor Free Not sure where to start on this calf, but maybe it better be with his dam. She’s a sweet, blaze-faced, moderate but powerful young female we’ve been excited about from the start. She is pear-shaped with a refined front end, deep middle, and ends it off packing some power in the rear third. Her dam, IPU 74A, is one that always delivers, and she definitely did us a great service mothering 58D. This bull is stout, thick, balanced and strides out fluidly on a big hoof. After seeing the sire group from Impact 185D this year, we are convinced he needs to be used more. They are our type. 83H is a powerhouse who boasts a ADG from birth to weaning of 3.5lbs and from weaning to yearling 4.20lbs which is quite an accomplishment. It takes a combination of strong genetics and an optimal nutrition program to develop a solid herd sire that will perform throughout the years. Although feed cannot solve all the problems of the world, a balance between natural proteins and carbohydrates is important for maximum lean protein accretion (muscle development) which aids in expression of the animal’s genetic potential. To further optimize vigor and immunity of the animal, the balance between trace minerals that affects absorption and maximum cellular function. Macro minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium must be adjusted for interactions with other minerals such as potassium, and balanced in ratios for bone and muscle development. A smooth transition from one operation to another as your new sire begins to work is important for his longevity as he performs in your herd for years to come. Thus proper nutrition for the bulls when they get home is critical. We recommend that bulls are put on to a similar ration as the lactating cows they will be breeding for at least 40 days prior to turn out. We recognize that this is not always possible as bulls may be breeding for early January or even on grass. Therefore, Red Willow Ranch bulls will be on a high forage diet to match with breeding conditions as much as possible allowing for a smooth transition. At Red Willow Ranch, all bulls have been developed on balanced and monitored rations from calves on the dam through to the bulls you see today. Hard muscle, under a layer of conditioning, is required to sustain the bull through this breeding season and many more to come. A bull is an investment; we feel he has to last you for many years and that is why these bulls were placed on a biotin program to ensure healthy hoof growth to ensure that he will walk the pastures and work in all situations. We want satisfied customers to recognize the time and development that goes into making a good bull, and come back for many more over the years to come. I feel they would be extremely good, powerful bodied females with a ton of fleshing ability. In fact, I feel that that is where the bull will really excel Dam is on the female side. His picture we feel, didn’t do him justice to show the thickness and jam that he has. 18H has a heavy haircoat that we strive for and that commercial cattlemen alike want to incorporate into their replacements as we all know long, thick hair is a lot warmer on our cold winter days than the alternative. A younger born Ego son here with a nice look about him for his age. Out of a 1st calving heifer he’s grown very well and is maturing into a pretty good bull. He’s coloured up nice with a terrific haircoat and long spine. He is a useful type of bull and when you consider his age compared to some of his penmates he’s going to be right there with them when he gets to be the same age. When you look at his numbers, it’s actually pretty impressive: ADG of 3.8lbs/day from weaning to yearling and an ADJ yearling WT of 1481lbs.
