TO OUR PROGRAM
We would like to welcome you to our 9th chapter of the Open Book Invitational. It is hard to comprehend at times how the time goes by. I really can’t believe we have done this sale nine times now. We are really proud of how far this sale has come, and more proud of how well a lot of the females sold in this sale have done. We always love going to Agribition right after the sale and showcasing many of the sale heifers. We are proud of the two Agribition Champion’s, a Reserve Grand Champion and 16 heifer calf champions or reserves and a RBC Supreme Champion have all been graduates of this sale. A few of the most dominant females to sell out of this sale would include Bar-E-L Erica 74A who sold in our first feamle sale and now has 118 progeny to date. Blair’s have sold several flushes within the last year and will be intersting to see where Erica’s final total tallies. Brooking Annie K 390 sold as a bred in this sale and is most noted as the dam of the $95,000 Brooking Firebrand 6068. Recently Brooking Countess 7077 was Supreme Champion at Farmfair and Agribition and her daughter was Supreme at Lloydminster Stockade Roundup. When you tour the operations that have purchased through this sale it is humbling to see how well many of the females have done and still standout in leading herds. This year we have backed off our numbers of breds in this sale a bit with having females in the highly successful Rosebowl sale this past summer. What an event that sale was! We would like to thank our customers and friends for supporting this sale by consigning their absolute best and/or through purchasing in this sale. We truly apprecite it and could not do it without you. I know I might be getting ahead of myself but I really want you to plan on coming to our tenth sale next year. We have big plans in the works! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us or come for a visit anytime. We would love to show you the heifers.

HOW TO BID - WWW.DLMS.CA
FIRST TIME FARMGGATE USERS: - First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the FarmGate Time Auction Site requires a new account separate account from your DLMS Live sale site) - After you create your FarmGate account you will receive a txt message with a pin code to verify your account. - On your first log in to FarmGate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favourite lots. HOW TO BID IN A TIMED AUCTION Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot. - Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed. - Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process. EXAMPLE OF HOW THE MAX BID WORKS - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other. WATCH LIST FEATURE If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site. WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding. HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORKS? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in. BIDDING CLOSE & FOLLOW-UP After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidding you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions. - Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.

We are very excited to announce we will be doing another donation heifer. Last years format was so well received we thought we would do it again! We are going to give away one of our top end heifers to a junior between the ages of 8-18. To win the heifer, an entry needs to be purchased in the name of a junior that is an active member of 4-H or a junior association and is a Canadian citizen. We will draw a name and that lucky junior owns the heifer! 5 more names will also be drawn and they will receive up to $2000 bursary to purchase a heifer (heifer calf or bred heifer) from any breeder, (purebred or commercial) in Canada. Proof of purchase is required. The funds will be transferred directly to the seller of the heifer. Purchase must be made by December 1, 2022. A maximum of 100 entries for $100 each will be on offer and all the money raised will be donated directly back to our juniors’ future herds! You may purchase more than one entry per junior but can only win once. ENTRIES MUST BE PURCHASED BY NOV.14/21. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FACEBOOK LIVE THE MORNING OF THE SALE, MONDAY, NOV. 15/21.
The heifer will be of the same quality you can expect of all our sale heifers. She will be managed among our show/sale heifers and will be halter broke and show ready. To purchase an entry, you can either email us at brookingangus@outlook.com, text/call at 306-861-4155 or PM on Facebook.

Brooking Blackcap 1105 is one of our favourites for multiple reasons. Visually she is stout, deep, massive made with exceptional hair. She is sired by the $50,000 Brooking Gold Coin 8069 who was a top ten at Agribition’s RBC Supreme and a top 5 at Farmfair Supreme. Maternally you will love her exceptional dam that is a phenotype standout and one of the best Natural Law cows you can find. The grandam looks awesome at 13 years of age with perfect feet and udder. We have retained three flush mate sisters and two brothers who will be at the top of our bull pen. 8

The first Brooking Mercury 9057 daughter to sell. Mercury was a $57,500 top selling bull from an incredible flush and he is creating serious waves in his initial calf crop of all who used him. He clicked extremely well with Natural Law daughters as evidently shown with Brooking Tibbie 1114. She is long bodied, attractive fronted, well-made and easy moving. Get in on the ground floor with this stunning Brooking Mercury x Natural Law daughter she is the kind that will be a producer. 9

Brooking Beauty 8187 won her division at Agribition as a calf and is slated to show there again at the 50th Anniversary with Brooking Beauty 1225 at side. Just an April heifer that shares a lot of the look and design of her dam. It will be exciting to show the pair and we have had a pretty good track record showing Natural Law cows at Agribition. A maternal brother, Rust Forged of Fire, will be campaigned in Denver this January and is extremely good, to say the least. The grandam is the production powerhouse, Brooking Beauty 333, who is responsible for many high sellers. Brooking Beauty 1225 is a sure bet with her proven lineage and high caliber quality.

WFL Forever Lady 1003J is a definite future donor prospect. Study the length of body, depth from chest to flank, perfect udder development, along with a maternal look. It all reads: the right kind! The dam is a typical Bank Note daughter that is angular made, nice uddered and obviously productive. She is the female in the logo on our hoodies and shirts. Renovation is one of the hottest bulls in the breed right now and females like this are exactly why. 11

Wow! Talk about the cow herd building type. All the look, the shape, the structure and function needed to build the forever-popular kind. In my tours I have seen many Bravo x Bank Note combination’s and they really compliment each other. The Bank Note daughters sure are productive and many times even out produce themselves. Schwan Miss Erica 1012 is a bell-ringer that has the type many operations will admire and would be a great addition to build around. 12

In my summer tours I love it when I find one that hits me hard and stands out even among the hundreds of heifers we look at. Come As U R Lady 103J was one I instantly wanted for this sale. She is attractive and high fronted, big fluffy eared, deep sweeping ribbed , added bone and has that maternal productive look. I really think this heifer will be a major producer. A tremendous pedigree being a Rainfall out of a two year old Bank Note daughter. The grandmother is a flushmate to a $40,000 past high seller in this sale. We have sold many high sellers out of this cow family including the CWA Reserve Grand Champion bull, Brooking Silver Lining. Mark my words this Lady will raise something special. 13

Offering choice of these two flushmate Rose sisters. They are well-made and very solid built. These sweetheart heifers are square hipped, amazing haired, sound moving and have their whole future ahead of them. They remind me a lot of their dam at the same age. Their dam Rose 1019 has garnered high-end status among the Angus world. She has raised many high selling sons including the $70,000 Brooking Major, the $47,500 Brooking Real Estate, the $47,500 Brooking Renovation 0144 and many others. Her daughters are fabulous in production and have had many five figured progeny sales. We recently sold the only flush on Rose 1019 to sell for $19,500 to ZWT Ranch. We don’t part on many of these Rose daughters and decided to let you choose which one will have a new home.

A special sale feature. AMM Rose 12J is a direct daughter of Natural Law and has the same qualities that have made his daughters popular in our previous sales and across North America. Those same qualities in turn are why they are productive females. We have had two Natural Law daughters that were sale heifers go on to win Agribition. The dam, Brooking Rose 8180 was a past feature of this sale in 2019 and sold for $36,000 to Chase and Alana Miller and is now a donor in their progressive program. Here is a rare opportunity to access a neat pedigree on top of a high quality female.

Brooking Erica 1075 is a moderate framed tank of a heifer that is a daughter of the $50,000 Brooking Gold Coin 8069. I think every Canadian breeder was proud of Willbar when their bull Conley South Point was named Champion bull in Denver following his win at Agribition. Now I haven’t seen them all but this has to be one of the stoutest and most powerfully constructed South Point daughters in existence. She has shape, dimension, added bone, nice hair and a balanced appearance. It is very hard to find genetics that have this much calving ease and low birth and then grow into something this impressive. We all would love to have a bull pen that reads the same way and here is an example that will raise them.

Then you have The $450,000 SAV Raindance on the top side who is proving to be a cow maker. A couple of our absolutely best females in our retained bred heifer pen are Raindance daughters. I feel this heifer will be in her prime when she gets into production.

This looker is the cream off the top of the Wiwa Creek Angus program. They wanted to sell a feature out of their resident herdsire Brooking Mercury 9057. Mercury certainly knocked it out of the park on his first set of progeny at several operations. Wiwa Creek Bardal 34’21 has scale and stretch to her, is pretty fronted and if she is like her sire she will stand on exceptional feet. Moreover, this heifer is as quiet as they come and would look great next summer.

Now look at the bottom side of the pedigree and it is a maternal legacy combing SAV Density and Beauty 6R. Talk about genetic gems. One of the few Conley Express daughters to sell in Canada this year. This mid March heifer was from a cooperative herd and came in fresh and green and will get better all year long. Her extreme angularity will get noticed in the showring as she is clean from her throat all the way to her chest floor. Her dam is possibly the best phenotype female we have ever owned, really an incredible female. This heifer would be a fun one to show and will look amazing as a bred.

Due Jan. 13/22. Well I will be honest. We had no intention of selling this heifer. Late summer she had a bit of footrot so I brought her home and treated her but also wanted to keep a close eye on her, so I put her in with the sale breds. She quickly got better but I sure liked looking at her and well she never left the sale bred pasture. Brooking Beauty 0154 is as powerful as you can find. Huge hip, huge middle, extra bone and long fronted. You can tell this heifer will be a profit generator for years to come. A natural calf off of our mainstay donor Brooking Beauty 333. We sold the pick of our heifers in last years sale at $57,500 to Duff Cattle Co and they selected a daughter of Brooking Beauty 333. Note the early AI service to Northway Bang On. A) 5 embryos sired BROOKING CAN AM We purchased Diamond T Bardolia 1491 this past year from the Gardner family for many reasons. First, she is an excellent cow. You want an entire herd just like her as she is wide hipped, deep middled, easy fleshing, good uddered and has a traditional Angus head. Second, her dam was also an awesome female that I purchased for Soo Line while I was there and knew how good she was. Third, when I saw her sire as a yealing and a two year-old I was extremely impressed and lived to be, I believe, 10 years of age. We flushed her to our $60,000 Brooking Can Am 0012 who sold to Montana Ranch this past spring and feel would be a great mating for her.

Emblynette 4223
1837202 - IMP 4223B - Feb 26, 2014
A) 3 embryos sired by COLEMAN TRIUMPH 9145 SAV Emblynette 4223 was a $47,500 selection from Schaff Angus Valley. She is massive in her dimension, wedge shaped, broad hipped and in a moderate frame size. She is the dam of the $50,000 Brooking Gold Coin that was Reserve grand Champion bull at Agribition in 2019. I wish I had enough recipient cows to put all of these embryos in. I unfortunately don’t, so here they are.We used Coleman Triumph after falling in love with some of his sisters. Absolute beautiful females and I think will mate well with 4223.

She has a perfect udder and an extremely high degree level of phenotype. She is most noted as the dam of the $95,000 Brooking Firebrand 6068. His influence and popularity are growing rapidly worldwide. The Raindance females are going to make great cows and we have retained three full sisters to the embryos selling. Check out the excellent daughter selling in this sale.

A) 5 embryos sired by NO DOUBT Top Line Lady 102 was a top selling cow at the Werner dispersal. Her daughters were the top selling cow, bred and heifer calf in that offering. You should check out the updated photo of her daughter at Krebs Ranch. Top Line Lady 102 is a powerful, long bodied, level hipped, wide pin set, great uddered while still pretty and angular. A timeless pedigree 004 x 5175 x Saugahatchee. Possibly one of my favourite heifer calves of my tour all summer was a daughter at Bar-E-L and they sure didnt want to part with her
