Brooking Angus Ranch Open Book Invitational Chapter 6

TO OUR PROGRAM

A few years ago I was interviewed by the Top Stock Magazine and they asked me if I had a favourite quote to live by and I said “Yes I do. Do not compare your chapter 2 to someones chapter 20”. I often need to remind myself of this quote as the mind works a lot faster than the gestation table and the pocket book. However, I could not be prouder how much progress this sale has made over the years and developed into the Chapter 6 edition. What we are most proud of is the fact that many of the pedigrees have our influence and prefix on them. Many of the consigned females are the direct results of purchased genetics from Brooking. We do feel this is the most consistent and quality set of females top to bottom that we have sold. If you look on the cover of this catalog that was taken the morning of picture and video day. We moved the bred heifers about half mile that morning to the yard as they are in a 160 acre pasture. The point I am trying to get at is look at their heads. They are all the same. That is what we are trying to do is get consistent and predictable results, for us and our customers. Once again all open heifers are halter broke and we do reserve the right to show several of them at Agribition at our expense for the new owner. We are truly excited about our donation heifer project that we have done this fall. We can’t wait to see where all the juniors choose to allocate the money. I wouldn’t be where I am at today without growing up showing at junior shows. We all need to support them in our own way. Lastly we would like to extend a thank you to those that have put trust into our program in the past we appreciate your business. We look forward to visiting with you again. If you have any questions please feel free to call we would be happy to talk about the sale offering. Justin Morrison

We, Brooking Angus Ranch, have decided to do something a little different to support our youth, 4-H and junior show programs. We are going to give away this top end heifer to a junior between the age’s of 8-18. She will be managed among our show/sale heifers and will be halter broke and show ready at draw date. To win the heifer, an entry needs to be purchased in the name of a junior that is an active member of 4-H or a junior association and is a Canadian citizen. We will draw a name and that lucky junior owns the heifer. 7 more names will also be drawn and they will each be able to designate 10% of the money raised by entries to a favourite junior show, 4-H club or a junior breed Association (doesn’t have to be Angus). The remaining 30% will automatically be designated to go to the Canadian Junior Angus Association. A maximum of 200 entries for $50 each will be on offer and all the money raised will be donated to the designated programs. You may purchase more than one entry per junior but can only win once. Entries must be purchased by November 10 and draw date will be on Facebook Live the morning of our female sale day November 12, 2018 to announce the winners. To purchase an entry you can either email us at brookingangus@outlook.com, text/call at 306-861-4155 or PM on Facebook.

Brooking Beauty 8042 is an absolute knockout of a female. She has the power, rib, bone, mass, amazing hair, and that pretty look that few can achieve. I feel this heifer could be dominant in the show ring but more importantly her true value is in her breeding potential. Combine the fact of her phenotype, power, style and cow family strength this is a female to build around. Heifers that look like this are hard to find and even harder to find for sale. Take the opportunity to join the ride on this one. Retaining 50% embryo interest.

I don’t know how many times Tawnie has said to me “I can’t believe you are selling her!”. Brooking Beauty 8187 is the only daughter we have of this mating so we probably shouldn’t be. I absolutely love this heifer! She is extremely pretty, deep ribbed, great haired, and has that presence that is extremely rare. I feel this heifer has the ability to compete in the big leagues as much as any heifer we have sold. Her dam is one of my favourite cows and is a great egg producer that you will see her influence heavily here at Brooking. The flush mate brothers are the Natural Law sons we have all been searching for. They will highlight the spring bull sale season. Retaining 50% embryo interest.

A flush-mate sister to lot 1. This heifer didn’t have the same quality of recipient dam as her sister did and boy does this heifer get better every day. Brooking Beauty 8138 has size, rib, bone, great hair and shares the same cow family strength as lot 1 and 2.The dam is from a tribe of full sisters that can really produce. A flush mate to the dam produced last years high selling bred female at $72,000 and another produced a $17,000 heifer that went on to win reserve in her division at CWA.

I really wanted the dam of this Greenwood heifer for this sale as a calf. I know a lot of people tried to buy her privately on the show road as she was very popular and won her division at all three majors that fall. She has developed into an extremely good cow. I am really excited to have this Bank Note daughter on offer. Greenwood Beauty JJP 28F is very well made, clean lined and shares her dam’s good looks. This would be a great female to show and then turn into a money-making factory. The Bank Note females have great udders and then supported by the Beauty cow family combines into a sure-bet.

Schwan Miss Annie 808F is a daughter of the lot 1 heifer and co-top selling female at $30,000 in our first female sale to Schwan Angus. There sure is a lot of resemblance between the two of them. Both have that feminine and angular look, level hip and quality structure. The dam won many banners in her career and the forecast looks promising for Schwan Miss Annie 808F.

Riverfront Rosebud 811F hit me hard instantly with her natural power and good looks on tour this summer at Riverfront. If you like them with an extremely wide hip, full rump, along with shape end-to end and yet still have that feminine and attractive look, than here she is. Her sire, Brooking Silver Lining 5012, was a $50,000 high seller that went on to win Reserve Grand Champion bull at CWA and his progeny are living up to his standards. Riverfront Rosebud 811F is the kind to raise a herdbull that everyone will drive into your yard to see. Will it be your yard?

It definitely took some convincing to get Jon Carlson to consign this heifer. I feel Carlson Miss Wix 8010 is one of the best HA Cowboy Up 5405 daughter that I have seen on my travels. This doesn’t come as a surprise considering the generations of the Miss Wix cow family behind her. The dam was the high selling female at the 2017 McCumber production sale and was one of the top indexing heifers of their entire calf crop. Carlson Miss Wix 8010 is moderate, deep ribbed, thick made heifer that still possesses the femininity a productive female needs to have. Maternal siblings have brought $39,000, $18,000 and $17,000 in previous sales. Four full brothers will sell in the spring bull sale. Wiwa Creek Angus is one of the pioneer Angus herds in Canada and they have been one of the consignors to this sale since the beginning. They have a cowherd that is second to none in terms of functional quality and they have brought another prime example of their program this year. This heifer has already been shown by a junior at Young Ranchman’s and was an absolute doll to be around. This would be a great junior prospect that is well-made, with good bone, and extra shape in a moderate package.

Here’s an Abigale! What a time-proven pedigree combining maybe one of the best Angus bulls in history in my opinion, SAV 004 Density 4436 and the timeless Rito 7075. Not to mention the dam is from the same cow family that brought us SAV Bismarck 5682. Last year we sold a heifer for Carlson’s for $19,000 out of a maternal sister to Abigale 8067. This young March heifer is the sleeper of the sale as she came here green and a couple weeks later than the rest. We all know that Density daughters are like fine wine, they get better everyday of their lives. Opportunity awaits!

Lazy MC Angus have been a supporter of our female sale and are happy to have this 5T Power Chip daughter in this sale. Lazy MC Lady 112F is a stout topped, wide pinned heifer that stands on ample bone and shows nice teat placement. Her sire was Reserve Grand Champion bull in Fort Worth and his full brother will be popular this fall. The granddam was a feature of the Soo Line dispersal and has done well for Poplar Meadows. The third dam is the dam of Brooking Silver Lining 5012, the 2016 Reserve Grand Champion bull at Agribition.

Progeny or service that trace to EA Rose 918 will qualify to sell at this prestigious event.

The high selling female that day and one of the best females to sell in the 2017 sale season was WHL Brooke 1629D, a paternal sister to WHL Queen Mother 1769E. Brooking Deja Vu 4038 makes incredible daughters that have superior udders, are long bodied, with mass and power, all while maintaining a long and attractive look. Exposed to Ellingson Remedy 6452 from Apr. 20 - Jul. 20 *Ultrasound estimated due on February 28, 2019. Brooking Maureen Emilie 7087 is one of my favourite cow prospects in the sale. Her dam is now 15 years old and raised 7087 as her natural calf when she was 14 years old. Study this heifers teat placement, structure, body shape, and broody look and thats what we define as the functional kind. Easy fleshing, fertile, longevity and soundness is the true details for profitability in cows and the Maureen Emilie’s do it perfectly. The immediate cows in this lady pedigree are as good as they get.

We selected Ellingson Remedy 6452 for a calving ease option with real world qualities. We admired his extreme soundness, huge rib shape, body capacity and perfect foot. His 11 year old dam is still in production and possesses an awesome foot and udder. She is also the grandam to the ai sire to many of the sale heifers, Ellingson Homegrown 6035.

Lot 46A - 46J :: Canadian Qualified 100 Units of Brooking Bank Note 4040 sold in 10 dose packs Brooking Bank Note 4040 has become a household name in the Angus industry and justly so. We have never used or been part of a bull that can compare in production of consistent, powerful and quality progeny. This is a bold statement as I have checked pastures with Kodiak, Motive, and other top bulls walking them. Bank Note is extremely athletic, heavy muscled, masculine, deep ribbed and stands on a perfect foot. His dam is the definition of what an Angus cow should look like. Take advantage of this opportunity to raise the level of your next calfcrop. Brooking Bank Note 4040 semen will never be offered on the open market in Canada and only sold in exclusive sales. Progeny will qualify for the Rose Bowl Sale in August of 2020!
