Welcome cattleman to the 1st Annual Paint Em’ Black Bull Sale. This sale is held in the heart of cattle country in Saskatchewan at the south western corner of the province. The picturesque rolling hills and wide open space is ideal cattle country and the black cattle are dominant within that area. With a large percentage of Angus based females that are seeking a performance based breed to be mated with and optimize on heterosis; black Simmental bulls are the obvious answer. The 30 black Simmental bulls on offer from these 2 progressive programs represent many years of selective breeding. Herter Simmentals established their program in 1979 and have targeted their growth to supply the most discriminating cattleman with the best genetics possible. Even though they have been in the Simmental circles for 37 years, I have often referred to them as having a herd that is a “diamond in the rough”. They have a high percentage of repeat customers and that is because of their customer service and the great herd that backs their sale bulls each year. The Herter cow herd is truly an impressive group of cows that we have a lot of respect for as they are selected for foot quality, udder strength, maternal traits, longevity and overall production. As we rated many bulls high on our regular visits throughout the year, after seeing their dams it only solidifies our confidence in the future impact they will have for the successful buyers. Townview Farms run a successful commercial program with a select group of purebred females to target their customers needs. The Girodat family has built a strong program in a short time frame that is based around ease of calving, maternal strength and above average production value. You will quickly notice that many of these bulls rank in the top 1% of the Simmental breed for calving ease while still maintaining strong performance data. As we are seeing great prices in the cattle business, it is important for every cow/calf producer to eliminate death loss and the CE represented in this program will assist in that. Herter/Townview Bulls are designed for the commercial man in mind. We raise moderate, functional bulls, with breed leading calving ease and maternals, who can go out and work and add pounds to your calf crop. We are proud of our bulls and stand behind them. Bulls purchased for $5000 and greater come with a first year’s service breeding warranty (see details below). This warranty is intended to cover your bull through his first year’s service and help protect your investment through this time.
BULL WARRANTY *COMMERCIAL BREEDERS ONLY*
-All bulls purchased for $5000 and “greater” will be covered by a first year’s service warranty. Bulls purchased for “less” than $5000 must have insurance purchased through insurance company before bulls leave sale. -Warranty in effect March 23rd to Sept 1st (current year of bull purchase). -Full payment due March 23rd (of current year)…if bull is not paid in full warranty is void. - All bulls purchased at sale that have been semen tested prior to sale will be new owner’s responsibility after March 23rd (warranty in effect)…Herter Simmentals will feed and care for your bulls till delivery but “assume no responsibility” in the event of any sickness, injury, or death while in their care. If such an incident occurs you will receive a warranty credit. - All bulls that have not previously had a semen evaluation done will be brought back to the respective places Herter Simmentals/ Townview Farms to be tested at a later date, therefore will be 100% guaranteed until they have passed semen test. -Unsatisfactory breeders will be replaced with a comparable bull of value (replacement only). -Lameness, injury, and or sickness that is repairable such as foot-rot, sprains, pneumonia, soreness due to fighting, etc, that inhibit the ability to breed effectively is “not covered by warranty”. -We have spare bulls to get you through your time of need. -Bulls that sustain “non-repairable” injuries such as broken leg, broken penis, etc, and or death during coverage period will receive a bull warranty credit (details below). -All claims must have a veterinarian examination performed and documented before warranty issued (non examination claims will be void). -All claims must be reported before the time of warranty expiry (March 23rd -Sept 1/purchase year). -This warranty coverage is intended to help cover the loss of investment on your bull due to non-repairable injury/death during the first breeding season. -Warranty on our bulls works like this: purchase price of your bull less our warranty formula (-35%-$1500) = credit value Example: You purchase a bull for $5500.00, he injures himself and you sell him. We will give you a credit of $2075.00. Bull purchase price $5500-$1925(35%)-$1500=$2075.
