Brooking Angus Ranch Open Book Invitational - Chapter 4 - 2016

Page 1

Welcome to our fourth fall Online Open Book Invitational female sale. Once again we have assembled a high quality offering of open and bred females. The offering has been declared by visitors to easily be the best set offered to date. This calibre is direct results of our customers trusting us to offer their absolute best. And boy did they ever step up to the plate this year. We are particularly proud that many in this sale are results of past purchases from us here at Brooking. Over the past three years at Agribition we have won 7 out of 9 heifer calf divisions with heifers purchased from our sale. Almost every heifer we have exhibited has stood in the top three in class. This is proof we are not just selling a feature heifer but several that are contending quality. Many of the bred heifers sold in the past sales have went on to pay for themselves in their initial calf. One in particular her in-dam calf sold for $31,000. Genetics purchased from us have also done extremely well for their new owners. Including a few progeny selling over $20,000, division winners at Lloyd, Edmonton and CWA. As well as a second place class winner at the NJAS in Nebraska. All open heifers sell halter broke and we reserve the right to show several of these calves at Agribition at our expense for the new owner. Thank you to those that have put trust in our program in the past we appreciate your business. We look forward to visiting with you again. If you have any questions please give us a call we would be happy to talk about the sale offering.

The great ones always crank out the best ones time after time and the dam to Brooking Lady 6101 does just that. A maternal brother, Brooking Silver Lining 5012, was our high selling bull for $50,000 to Sunrise Angus and was named Semex Champion all breeds bull at Agribition in 2015. A maternal sister was Intermediate Heifer calf champion at Agribition and sold to Wiwa Creek for $32,000. Last years high selling heifer at $40,000 was raised by the grandam JL Lady 06 112. On her own merit Brooking Lady 6101 has extra shape, big bodied along with an attractive design. She will be an asset to tie to and run with.

Lot 3 & 4 - BOTH SELL! We originally brought these twin sisters up to the barn that were both raised by their dam to see which one looked better and sell that one. Well we couldn’t decide and it seemed there was no clear cut decision by visitors either, so here they are both offered. These sisters share the bone and Lot power of their dam and the rib, muscle and maternal look of their sire. Brooking Bank Note 4040 has stamped his initial calf crop with unparalleled consistency of quality, power, rib shape, muscle and look. Proof is in these first four daughters selling. We can’t wait to offer 20 sons in the spring bull sale.

Lot 5 & 6 - SELLING CHOICE ! A rare opportunity to acquire full ownership in direct daughters of the immortal Dameron First Class. These flush sisters have all kinds of power, size, mass, depth of rib, depth of flank, big bone and coupled with hair quality like a showman’s dream. Maybe as much power as any of the First Class daughters on offer this year. They remind me a lot of their dam at the same age who has went on to be a never miss donor that constantly adds that extra flare needed to compete in all facets. First Class semen has fetched as high as $16,750/ straw. So opportunities like this will not happen often, especially in Canada. I am not sure which sister is the better one but I am sure they are the kind that will raise valuable progeny consistently.

Bar-E-L Magnolia 103D is the standard mould from Longshore’s being easy-fleshing, big bodied, hairy with a maternal look. Bar-E-L Magnolia 103D might be my favourite heifer ever offered in our sale from the great Longshore herd. This might be a bold statement considering the popularity and accolades achieved by Lot Bar-E-L Erica 74A that was purchased in our female sale in 2013 by Blairs.ag. Erica 74A won all the majors in Canada last fall and looks better today than ever. Sired by the $25,000 Brooking Open Road 4051 and from the same cow family that raised the reserve grand champion female at The World Angus Forum. If you believe in cow families then here is your powerhouse combination of the Beauty and Magnolia cow families. The earning potential will be lucrative.

To say I was excited that Joe let me have this heifer from one of my favourite cows in the country would be an understatement. The dam is a Predominant daughter that is the kind you will never forget as she is long fronted, square hipped, big bodied with a top quality udder. When you add the fact that the sire is from the great Georgina cow family makes it no surprise the maternal look, erect front end and sweeping rib shape that Bandura Miss 4T Blackcap 54D exhibits. Here is a heifer that can win shows and make a future impact on your operation as a donor female.

A resulting mating from both the sire and dam purchased from us.The sire, $20,000 Brooking Fuel Up 4071 looked like a million bucks this past summer at Riverfront Angus Ranch. Note he is from the same dam as the Lot 1 in this sale. The dam, Brooking Royal Lass 313, is a maternal sister to Genex’s,Werner EA Motivation. Riverfront Royal Lass 616D started off a little green here but she is the type and kind that go on to be a great cow. Don’t overlook this female.Take the time to research all the immediate cows in her pedigree (Blackcap May 4136, Rose 214X, Bala Bell 577 and Royal Lass 4218) they are all top income cows and solidify the fact the future will be bright for Riverfront Royal Lass 616D.

Showcasing the consistency of the great Royal Lass cow family. They are both the type you want 100 of as they are angular fronted, level hipped, nicely made with ideal teat size and placement. Soo Line Motive 9016 :: Service Sire

One of the first daughters of SAV Registry 2831 to sell in Canada. Brooking Lady 5035 is a naturally easy fleshing and big bodied female. Her maternal sister sells as lot 17 and when you compare the two they show a lot of similar mass and power.

Brooking Countess 5088 is a low birth daughter of Sitz Right Answer 506Y. Our “Sitz” daughters raised some top calves this year and one son in particular will gain a lot of attention at the bull sale in the spring. Bred early to our go-to heifer bull Soo Line Motive 9016.

Introducing a deep ribbed, great haired, square hipped daughter of Sitz Right Answer 506Y. Brooking Betsy 5124 is a mirror image of her dam and with her big rib shape and fleshing ability she looks great year round. Please note that we missed writing down what we AI bred this heifer to. However, it most likely would be to Soo Line Motive 9016 as all heifers that could be bred to him were. However, the calf will need to be DNA’ed to verify.
