Welcome to our third fall Online Open Book Invitational female sale. This past summer while I was touring customers operations I came into a field with a group of some of the top females we have sold over the past couple years. A thought came to my mind. “Had I screwed up?” Did I mess up selling some females that were this high of quality? I couldn’t help but think that these females are hard to come by and instead of selling them they could be still be in my pasture.” It didn’t take more than a few seconds to come to the conclusion that THIS is why we sell the good ones. They need to be the top producers in any program. That is the reason we are so proud of this years lot 1 heifer. She is an in dam purchase from last years sale. She has turned SALE DAY CONTA CT S some heads already and will deliver a solid ROI on the initial calf. BROOKING ANGUS RANCH :: Justin Morrison 306-536-4590

Sale Day Contacts

Within the past two years heifers we have sold have done extremely well in the show ring. We have won every heifer division we have entered at Agribition for the past two years. Consecutively winning 5 grand and 1 reserve out of 6 divisions. The juniors showing have either been Champion or Reserve in their respective 4-H regional show. They also have won several major junior shows including Regina Spring Steer and Heifer Show, Summer Synergy, CWA Youth Extreme, IPE and many others. I feel we have stepped up to the plate and assembled a strong offering. It is without question the most solid offering top to bottom highlighted by a group of open heifers that will compete with any in the Nation. All heifers are halter broke and we will retain show rights on a handful again to go to Agribition at our expense. Thank you to those who have put trust in our program in the past we appreciate your business. We look forward to visiting with you again. If you have any questions please give us a call we would be more than happy to talk about the sale offering.

Brooking Annie K 5010 is a very fitting individual for our lot one position. Not only for the fact that she is a high quality individual but also she is a resulting product of an in-dam purchase. Her dam was sold in last years sale as the high selling bred female for $27,500 to Pinehurst Angus and DBL Inc. We were fortunate to be able to include this highlight from the cherished and accomplished Annie K cow family. The grandam was the 2011 RBC Supreme Champion at Agribition and the third dam, Soo Line Annie K 6271, was the World Angus Forum Champion Female. On her own merit Brooking Annie K 5010 is as stout made as any heifer we have been involved with. Moreover, she is deep flanked, big ribbed, hairy, perfect teat size and placement and has a high quality structure that is synonymous of the Annie K lineage. Future donor would be an understatement.

Our goal here at Brooking is that our customers make more money with our genetics and we love trying to help them to accomplish that. I was very excited when I came across this heifer at Kevin Grangers this past summer out on pasture. I was not only excited that she was sired by the $44,000 Brooking Prosecutor 222, or out of a cow that we sold while at Soo Line or that she was a 3/4 sib to last years high selling female and Senior Heifer Calf Champion at Agribition. But mostly because she out right smacks you in the face and holds your attention. Lady 508C is rare in her kind with a unique ability to be long and erect fronted, huge bodied, fluent in her movement, structurally correct, along with a presence that will win shows and raise “The Next One.” Lady 508C is the kind that will make a difference and the only variable is for you to decide if you want it or want to watch.

Watching these sale females develop we should maybe change the name of this sale to “Like mother, like daughter”. Brooking Blackcap 5018 is a mirror image of her dam, Schaff Blackcap 955. Both females are very correct in their design, square made, sound, excellent udder quality and angular fronted. The dam was Reserve Champion Angus female in the 2010 First Lady Classic at Agribition. Sired by Brooking Prosecutor 222, the 2013 Reserve Grand Champion bull at Agribition and $44,000 high selling bull. Brooking Blackcap 5018 will hold her own and we are confident that you will want to tie onto this female as she will be a money maker for years to come.

The Queen cow family just knocks them out one after the other with added length, style and high-end design. Brooking Queen 5067 is a blueprint of their synonymous type and would make an excellent show heifer with a next to none disposition, great hair and special design. Her sire PVF Insight is making waves across the US winning the toughest shows in the country. When you are done showing her she will be just like her dam and highly productive. Between Queen 50852 and several descendants in the last two years they have had 100% conception to their 1st AI.

Bar-E-L Angus allowed us access to an outstanding heifer right off the top of their program. The past two years consecutively the consignments from Bar-E-L both went on to win their divisions at Agribition and I feel Bar-E-L Clova 20C owns the same level of quality. She is the standard mould from Longshore’s being easy fleshing, big topped, hairy with a maternal look. A paternal sister is the famed Bar-E-L Erica 74A who sold in this sale two years ago who has been successfully campaigned by Maguire Blair to several championships and will be a contender at the majors this fall. Backed by a powerhouse cow family the earning potential will be lucrative.

It is not a true sale at Brooking without a daughter of our #1 income and breed matron, Beauty 6R. Come As U R Beauty 531C has all the credentials to live up to her royal lineage. She is stout made, hairy, deep ribbed and has the Beauty cow family maternal “look”. Full sisters sold for $30,000 toVosVegas two years ago. Another full sister is possibly my favourite first calf heifer I have ever raised. Other maternal sibling highlights have brought $30K, $25K, $25K, $23K, $20K and $16K. When I toured Wiwa Creek Angus this summer, one of the oldest Angus herds in Canada, I thought there was the strongest set of calves I have ever seen in the pastures at Rush Lake. They were highlighted by a group sired by the $50,000 S AV Harvest Moon 2244. I was lucky to get this April born daughter on the trailer home for this sale. Wiwa Creek Favorite 543’15 is big, huge ribbed, long bodied, long fronted and as gentle as they come.

If you want to talk about a tank with the definition of rib, flank, stoutness, balance, easy fleshing ability and excellent teat size and placement you could describe Brooking Maureen Emily 5021. In an earlier footnote we said “like mother, like daughter’ Brooking Maureen Emily 5021 would be in the same category and we might as well label it “brood cow”.The dam 243-559 is 12 years old and looks fantastic and the same every day of the year.

AI bred to the Genex calving ease specialist Koupal Advance 28. Advance’s dam is claimed to be one of the top females in the breed. Exciting maternal blending.

A power mating of Earnan and Blackbird 90548. If you want some size and length than look into Brooking Blackbird 4023. She is supported by a productive cow we purchased from Larry Rice’s dispersal in Nebraska. Bred to our new $26,000 herdsire that was a member of Hamilton Farms pen of bulls in Denver.

I really like the maternal look and function Brooking Beauty 4098 possesses. This comes as no surprise being a Monarch, Density and Beauty cow family combination. On her own evaluation she is square hipped, level top and underline and her back leg sits right underneath of her.

Brookmore Rose 214X is a daughter of the female siring legend, SAV 004 Density 4436. Brookmore Rose 214X is a very high quality phenotype female that is angular made, level and long hipped with a perfect udder. One of our absolute favourite cows. Her past two bulls have went on to purebred operations including a highlight from the 2015 sale at $20,000 to Riverfront Angus Ranch. I believe it will be a perfect blending of power, maternal and phenotype to the $125,000 Brooking Bank Note 4040.

Flag Missy Gal 90568 is a heavy milking, big bodied and a no miss production factory. A daughter was last years second high selling bred female at $18,000 to River Front Angus Ranch. A full sibling to the embryos selling, Brooking Black Ink 4019, saw heavy service at Brooking this past spring. Brooking Black Ink 4019 was a heavy duty powerhouse. The kind you want your pen filled with. Another daughter will hit our donor pen next season.
