On behalf of the Beechinor families we welcome you to their first annual bull sale. Yes their first bull sale but yet not strangers to success in the bull business, these people have been the biggest drawing card at modern day Red Deer Bull Sales for many years now. They have simply outgrown the event and have decided to proceed with this venture. We @ Transcon have always been proud to have been a part of the entire Beechinor seedstock marketing program during their fast rise to success. This “success” has come a lot in part because of the respectful way these young breeders treat the public. This is no accident because they have been brought up this way and it is a real pleasure to see the family unit work within those same respectful boundaries when addressing each other. Of course the product, male or female, is also a big reason for their success. The “Beech Bro” cattle have been received very well in the sale ring and are starting to surface as solid producers for many people, most notably the “Utopia” female who sold in the very first National Trust, and was purchased by Starwest Farms, who in turn sold over $30,000 worth of progeny from her at the past National Trust! A maternal brother and a maternal sister to “Utopia” both sell in this very sale! Their is a top flight set of heifers also on offer who are big, stout, “future bull-making” bunch of brood cows to be. The bull pen is stacked with some excellent sire groups by “Viper”’, “Revolution”, “Upgrade”, “Shooter” and for some diversity, a few A.I. sired individuals. Rob and Deanne Young and family have been good friends and business partners on a few herdsires with the Beechinors, and have been invited to join them in this sale with their bulls. The Youngs carry deep pedigrees as “purebred” people and have bred Simmental cattle for many years. The High Country name has always been known as being great supporters of many events and of their fellow breeders as buyers of their respective cattle. They have always had a savvy nature for knowing that event’s successes are driven by breeder participaction. Their string of bulls will be made up of several sons of their new “3D” bred herdsire and coincidentally some are out of “Revolution” (whom they owned jointly with the Beechinors) daughters. A token calving ease son of Black Joker will wind up their group. Many of Beechinor’s high sellers last year were out “Eagle Ridge” cows. A few year’s ago, the Beechinor’s were offered the opportunity to acquisition the entire Fullblood bred female herd from Eagle Ridge Simmentals. The Blain’s and McLean’s of the Olds area retained all the Fullblood heifer calves and all the Purebreds during this transaction and they have now grown into mother cows who have produced the bulls for this sale from Eagle Ridge Simmentals. This is a real nice fit for this event because of the great influence the Eagle Ridge name has on the Beechinor offering. I also know John and Stefon have appreciated the “mentorship” that Danny and Loretta have provided to them as stock people. Transcon has marketed Eagle Ridge cattle for many years and we have a lot admiration for the maternal productivity that has been bred into these cattle for generations. All bulls and heifers that are remaining to be housed after the sale must be insured. Bulls will be housed free of charge until May 1st 2013. Animals will be delivered free of charge to points across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This will be done at the buyer’s convince however, if the truck is in your area you may be asked to take your bull early. We will do our utmost to deliver your bull right to your yard.

Sight Unseen

If you are unable to attend the sale, but are interested in bulls or heifers, please fell free to give the consigners a call prior to sale day and they will personally go over the bulls and your program. and recommend the animal that would meet your needs. Following that the Transcon Livestock Team will represent your needs in a professional and confidential manner.

Health and Fertiltiy

All bulls will be scrotal measured. All bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested. All bulls were treated with Ivomec and such products and have received all their vaccinations. Contact seller for details on programs.

EPD Explanation

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Difference”. They are a useful tool in selection EPD incorporate the individual animal with its anestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously. One of several selection tools.

Welcome to our 1st Annual Simmental Summit Sale. We are very excited to host everyone on Feb 25th in our new sale barn on the farm. Most of the bulls will be housed inside to let you have a chance to get a good look at the animals without having to brave unpredictable end of February elements. We feel having the sale on the farm will be easier on the bulls due to less travel stress, which will allow you to see them in their true natural state. We are also hoping that eliminating the move makes things less stressful on us as well to allow some extra time for hospitality. We are very pleased to have High Country Cattle Services and Eagle Ridge Simmentals joining us for this inaugural sale. We have learned a lot about breeding Simmentals from these two programs and they have had a huge impact on our herd development. Our bulls are also similar in type with very similar genetic profiles so the entire group fits in well together. All yearling bulls have been wintered here together to allow for more consistency between programs. They have been slowly developed on a high forage TMR diet containing silage and a starch free pellet. We want skeletal, foot, testicular, and muscle development to take place before putting on a fat cover. They will be presented in good breeding condition and ready to go to work. This group of yearling bulls is the most consistent bull group we’ve offered.You will find easy fleshing, smooth made, moderate framed bulls with piles of hair and big testicles all mothered by a cow herd we are very proud of. These are bulls that will raise big steers and replacement daughters you will want to retain. We look forward to having you out to the farm on Feb 25th. Full Fleckvieh. Octanes deep sweeping rib, square hind quarters, cherry red color pattern, correct structure, docility and smooth polled head has made him a pasture and pen favorite. He has been loaded with eye appeal and style since birth. His dam is a highly productive cow already raising our high seller to Moose Creek in 2011 and last years bull being used heavily in our commercial herd. Viper has been very versatile, being used successfully on heifers and power cows to give powerful calves that come easy. Octane is a splitting image of Viper and should follow in his footsteps. We considered retaining Octane as our Viper replacement but with it being the inaugural sale we felt we should offer you all of our best.

He has been noticed right from birth and we expect him to go out and produce an excellent group of calves. His dam is a tight uddered, heavy milking cow that is always carrying flesh. A maternal sister was a highlight of our fall female sale offering, selling to Stout Brothers at Bluffton. Zillion should work at both ends of the herd, producing functional females and males.

Full Fleckvieh. Benz is backed by one of our strongest cow families, both his grand dam and great great grandam produced our top Viper heifers last year. This maternal line all of awesome udders and feet. Ultra 26U’s first son was sold to Alta Genetics and now works at Grinalta Farms. A maternal brother to Benz can be found as a feature 2 Year Old. Benz is a thick ,round made bull that is hard to fault. Nice color, hair coat, free moving and has the Viper docility. Viper semen is hard to come by so a son could be the best bet to get his influence.

We are very excited with the 2013 offering from this sire group and believe it is the strongest and most consistent set we’ve offered. Full Fleckvieh. A late December born herd sire prospect with as much potential as any you will come across this spring. He has a strong hip that carries down low onto his back leg, deep body, nice hair, excellent scrotal development and an appealing color. He is mothered by our best, a cow that has been creating interest since she was shown at the 2006 world congress and whose production record really has people talking. His granddam is JB Hendrika who can be found in quite a few of our top females including the $27 500 bred heifer sold to Randy Ward at the 2012 Fleck Equation. We have just begun calving the first Viper daughters and they are meeting our high expectations.

Full Fleckvieh. We have been considering Legion the fleckvieh powerhouse of the offering for quite some time. He carries an incredible amount of mass across his top line and hind end. He is long bodied, smooth shouldered and sound footed with a big scrotal. His Jahari dam Phoebe, has earned a lot of respect at our place for raising top end bulls and has made her way into our flush program. Pheobe’s full sister raised a $8500 bred heifer last fall to Kopp Farms.You will have a hard time finding a polled bull of this quality, with this much power.

She raised a set of twin heifers a couple years ago that are both right near the top of our first calvers. Even after have twins she managed to move up almost an entire cycle. Lots of fertility here. Revolt and Rouge are embryo calves out of our red donor cow Beech Bro Pixxy. Pixxy is a heavy milking female who consistently brings in a top calf. Currently we have two daughters of Pixxy working in our herd, one of whom is a full sister to these two bulls. One of their flushmates is a top red replacement heifer in our pen. Other calves of Pixxy have sold to the Janzen Ranches, DGR Cattle, and a high seller to Clint Morlock out of last years sale. Revolt and Rouge are dark dark red blaze faced bulls, that carry all the traits Revolution passes onto his offspring: deep ribbed, wide hip, big top, hair and large testicles to name a few. This Revolution bull is one that we have watched very closely from the day he was born. His dam has produced two females that have been retained in the herd and are looking to be very promising young females. He is also a three quarter sibling to 547Z (lot 22). Rebel is the exact opposite of his name. He may have the meat and muscle to fit the stereotype but his temperament is outstanding. Much like all the Revolution bulls he is very easy to handle and loves a scratch from time to time. Never the less don’t overlook his ability to add pounds to your calves in the fall. Bullseye came to us as an early Christmas present last year. We have had high hopes for this dark cherry red bull calf right from the beginning. Out of a first calf heifer with a picture perfect udder, this bull started at 88lbs and by weaning had grown to a whopping 911lbs without creep feed. He has continued to be one of the top end bulls in our pen since then. This bull has the potential to raise calves that will be born small and grow into outstanding animals by weaning. Persuasion is a dark red son out of the 2009 Farm Fair Supreme Champion Bull, SS Intuition. 430Z carries his sires style and eye appeal. He is smooth made and correct, with a moderate birth weight and thick hair coat. We used Intuition very successfully for easy calving but as you will see by his sons, his offspring also get up and grow. Persuasion’s dam is a long bodied cow that has always raised a top end calf. Her 2011 heifer, a full sister to Persuasion, is one of our top red bred heifers this year. A 3/4 brother was our red high seller in 2011 to Double G Simmentals.

Range Rover is a bull who has literally been growing from day one. We have been very impressed with the amount and quality of milk produced by our donor cow CMS Paradise, the dam to 205Y. Although Paradise produces a high volume of milk her udder has remained square. What surprised used us was the fact that Zodiak’s growth pattern matched those of our higher preforming bulls. The lead off bred heifer in the Friday Night Lights Sale this fall was a great-great granddaughter of 37K. We have 15 females in our herd going back to this excellent uddered, square footed thirteen year old cow, who will calve in mid January yet agin. This long bodied, powerful, blaze faced bull will raise calves that tip the scales come fall. He also comes from an impressive line of maternal traits that will make his daughters great candidates for the replacement heifer pen.

New this year is a select group of two year old bulls and a powerful set of open yearling females. Due to space restrictions in last year’s spring bull sale we choose to retain a very uniform strong set of virgin two year old bulls. They were sorted to a different pasture as baby calves with the main selection criteria being age. They have been developed slowly over the last two years with very little grain and should be able to get right to work this breeding season, covering a greater number of cows. The females represent the sisters to the bulls and give you some insight into the cowherd we are continually developing. These are the type of females that we normally select to offer as bred females but with it being the inaugural sale we’ve decided to include something pretty special.

With a later birth date we decided that Mr. Schnapps was a great candidate for our two year old program. This dark cherry red blaze faced bull ironically goes back to another of our Stulberg dispersal purchases, SU Big Bertha. If you were buying bulls when Stulbergs were selling you will remember seeing Big Bertha in a number of pedigree’s. She was a cow that was able to transfer milk production into beef. This long spined bull has all the makings to be easy calving. He has a small nose, smooth face and shoulders and extends nicely all the way into his rear quarter. Last year as we choose bulls to start a two year old program 19Y was an easy fit. He was the only black bull in the pen and is a true standout. We have always been impressed by the amount of muscle and easy doing nature this bull has. His dam SSP Mystery 19M is one of our donor dams who we lost far to soon. When we purchased Mystery as the high selling red cow from the Stulbergs dispersal we already know that she had the ability to milk. These heifers spent the majority of the winter on a high forage diet with 100 other purebred and commercial replacements and will be in the condition we like to see them come breeding time. Tasha 712T has Zearl’s full sibling at side that looks to have all the qualities to be a top bull next spring. TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
