I would like to welcome you to the first annual Cockburn Red Angus Bull Sale. Although this our first sale on our own we have been in the purebred business for over 20 years and have had many very successful bull sales. Our red Angus cow numbers have grown over the past few years, thus having more bulls to market. We have built around strong cow families emphasizing on sound feet and legs, thick easy doing cattle with good udders, and herd sires with muscle, performance and doability as well as calving ease. Our purebred cows are ran on native grass along side our commercial cows with no special pampering or creep feed. We believe our cattle should work harder than we do and we cull strictly to ensure we stay on track.

We feel that there are very exciting times ahead in the beef industry with the shrinking size of the worlds cow herd and the growing demand for high quality beef. We are headed toward very profitable times. Selecting a high quality sire will be very important in moving your cow herd in the right direction and getting the top dollar out of your calves.

Our bulls are developed with longevity in mind. They are fed to meet their potential to emphasize on muscle development, not to over fatten and jeopardize there longevity and fertility. The bulls will all be fertility tested and guaranteed breeders. This is the best set of bulls we have had to offer and believe there is a bull to meet everyone ’s needs.

Cow bulls with lots of performance and easy calving heifer bulls to let you sleep easy. We have on offer three sets of full brothers from flushes on three of our top cows, as well as many other half and three quarters brothers that are very uniform. The bulls are thick, long bodied, sound, bulls with great hair coats.

In a effort to better meet the needs of our customers, through a partnership with Jason Breault we have added purebred Simmentals to our operation and will have bulls on offer in next year ’s sale. We believe this is the ultimate cross and have selected our Simmental herd on the same qualities as we expect in our red Angus cows.

Ribeye is a bull we can ’t say enough about. He was a standout from birth and topped our bull sale in ’09 at $30,000 for 2/3 interest to Soo Line Cattle Co. He then highlighted their dispersal sale when he sold again for $70,000 to Wild Cat Creek Ranch in Kansas. Ribeye has bred extremely well siring thick easy doing sons that have been in high demand. Ribeye ’s daughters are also proving to be extremely valuable; they are big ribbed, great uddered females. Ribeye also produced Xcaliber who was our high selling bull in 2011. Ribeye ’s dam Cora is an amazing cow, she is super thick, huge topped and great uddered. Her daughters are our best young cows and are very hard to fault. Half interest in Cora sold to Wild Cat Creek Ranch for $37,500. She is now a feature cow in both of our E.T. programs. Ribeye is a bull who will be very tough to replace. His impact will be felt in the breed for a very long time. 15 sons sell!

Xcaliber was our high selling bull in 2011 at $30 000 to Scott Stock Farm. He is an extremely thick bull, with a big hip, an amazing dark red hair coat and a great foot. His first calves look great and we will be using him more in the future. His dam 150L is as good of cow as we ever owned. She is an extremely eye appealing big ribbed cow.

She was sold to Wild Cat Creek Ranch and is in their ET program. Watch for full brothers to Xcaliber in the next year ’s sale as we retained a flush in 150L. 3 sons sell.

She produced the Ribeye 346U bull that was a $9,500 high seller in the ‘09 sale to Mar Mac Farms, and also Encore 106Y our high seller last year at $18,250 to Blairs.Ag. 27N is a big ribbed cow with a great udder and is very sound. 227Z has three of our best cows in his pedigree, 443P, 150L and 27N.
