In a dream, as I was, vaporised Floating apparition, faceless fiend Of no expression, lifelessly languishing In artificial twilight trickery, Leching and looming in shadow scenery, Locked in lofty Gothic vaults of unbearable depth Where untold riches remain unknown, Where death-wish explorers dare to roam; A courtesan is weeping quietly in the corner, A dagger clenched beneath her cloak, Debauch me, desert me of this love of lunacy, Let me sink into the sadness of the night, Submerged by starry skies, And then I ll wretch in an alley.

Asylums are being built around me; Suicidal tendencies are sweetly Made inside sickly little taverns- Miserable sub-terrain!

Secretly I swallow a loathsome lozenge And toss myself off the tallest tower!

Only Oriental nightmares await me In endless cities of ethereal energy; Phantasmagoria surround me, Projected phantoms pick at me, Devil please come for me and all my petty passions.

Another endless January, wasted With drinking binges And the rattled hinges Of doors that never close On eyes that never open, But sink, deep beneath Patchwork sheets Of faded blue and fading green Into the horror of a dream: Hotel rooms and bingo halls, Heart shaped clouds and snakes Bottled up with February (Like everything of you in me) Eating themselves into a hole Of self-obsession, Self-annihilation.

January is nothing But planned depression With moments missing, Lost in lightless days Of jealousy and greed And then starvation- Of the body, of the mind- Escapism of any kind; And forced regrets, Too hard to forget, Are too easy to remember, Like steamed up windows On the Fourteenth of Novemeber.

My year begins in September When the streetlights glow A pinkish red, When the leaves are falling But they havent fallen yet.
