BOERNE POINTS
Here at Boerne Parks & Recreation, making life enjoyable is our number one goal. We maintain over 400 acres of green spaces and five and a half miles of trails; we run athletic programs that make fitness fun; we organize classes, festivals, events, camps and much more. It’s our honor to provide these services for Boerne. We couldn’t ask for a more engaged and supportive community. That sense of community drives us to keep improving the quality of life in our town. Help us make Boerne the best it can be by supporting the City of Boerne Parks & Recreation Department.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING YOUR PARKS
VOLUNTEER AT AN EVENT
We may be biased, but we think Parks & Recreation events are some of the best times in Boerne. Come lend a hand at our events. It’s a great way to have fun while supporting your community and earning service hours for work or school.
SUPPORT US THROUGH ADVERTISING
Promote your organization by advertising with the Parks & Recreation Department. Increase name recognition with an ad in next year’s guidebook or a banner on one of our softball field fences. Get the word out by sponsoring an event or running a commercial during a Movies in the Park night.
ADOPT A PARK OR TRAIL
Nothing brings people together like volunteering in the great outdoors. Adopting a Boerne park or trail is a great way to boost teamwork through community service. We’ll put your group to work doing litter pickup, landscaping, weeding, watering, planting and more. It never fails to create a bond. Take it from someone who knows, like these past and current Boerne park adopters: -Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 688 City Lake Park River Road Park Veterans Park
-Boerne Soccer Club - FC Thunder City Park
-Boerne Middle School North Cibolo Trail
MEMORIAL TREE PROGRAM
Looking for the gift that will last a lifetime? How about several lifetimes? With our Memorial Tree Program, you can honor your loved ones for years to come and give a gift to the whole community. Memorial trees are planted in our city parks in the fall, and each tree is marked with a commemorative plaque in the honoree’s name.
MEMORIAL BENCH PROGRAM
Sitting on a park bench to watch the world go by is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Commemorate your loved ones with a memorial bench in one of our city parks. Each bench has space for a plaque to recognize the organization, donor, or loved one being honored.
SUPPORT BOERNE There are so many ways to get involved in Boerne! #1 SUPPORT THROUGH SPONSORSHIP #2 ADOPT A TRAIL #3 VOLUNTEER AT AN EVENT These are just a few examples. Together, we’ll keep making Boerne a wonderful place to visit and an even better place to live. Contact us to get involved or learn more about these opportunities! Each year on Memorial Day, more than 700 veterans, buried at the cemetery are honored by a memorial service held by the local Boerne chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During the service, an American flag is placed on each grave. We are here when you need us. Our phones are answered personally 24 hours a day, seven days a week. (830) 249-9128 319 E. BIGTOOTH MAPLES PROJECT
Restoring Boerne’s
forgotten inheritance.
The Native Plant Society of Texas, Boerne Chapter, is reintroducing the Bigtooth Maple, a historic natural treasure of the City of Boerne. Planting these lost trees will enhance the local landscape and establish Boerne as a premier destination for fall foliage viewing. Each year, a limited number of Bigtooth Maple trees are awarded to qualified organizations, businesses, and Boerne residents for planting within the city limits and along the entry ways to the city.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications for the free Bigtooth Maple trees are available online at: www.npsot.org/wp/boerne/maples-for-boerne You may also call (830) 249-8240, or email maplesforboerne@aol.com
