Two Danish sisters on a mission

The story began in 2006, when Bolette Blædel, had her first child, Jonas. She soon found out that he was happier being active and using his body. She experienced that in general furniture for children, was down-sized version of adult furniture, not taking the child’s actual needs into consideration.

Bolette, MA in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy, and her sister Louise, Designer by profession, founded bObles. A design company with the mission to create furniture for children, that inspire them to play, learn and develop, with a simple, aesthetic design approach for a modern-day family. We call our design tumbling furniture!

It is scientifically proven that the early development of a child’s motor skills, improves learning abilities, social skills and self-esteem.

The iconic Elephant

It’s hard to imagine a Danish children’s room without the iconic bObles Elephant in the year of 2023. Since the first bObles Elephant was born in 2006, it has grown to become a renowned, family-loved design icon and a symbol of high-quality, Danish children’s furniture.

From its launch it was immediately loved by children and adults, who couldn’t help but playing with the inviting spirit of the Elephant and its geometric shape. The Elephanta large, strong, and caring animal that all children just love. The perfect friend.

The bObles Elephant has been exhibited at MoMA in New York, at Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, and continues to amaze with its timeless, simplistic and at the same time multifunctional design.

Classic

Our Classic is a collection of the tumbling animals that have been with us from the start. Our bestsellers. And that for good reason, too. The simple multifunctional design, the idea of tumbling and moving in so many different ways – that is our very foundation. Use the tumbling animals to stand on to reach higher, build obstacle courses, use them as stools, tables and much more.

The elegant and timeless stripes in soft Nordic tones, have been part of our look from the very beginning. Stripes, colours and shapes are three easy-to-interpret-factors for children, and the animal look and skin-like feel creates an immediate bond between the child and the product.

The bObles Classic collection is made from high quality EVA foam and tested for children. The nonslip surface is soft as skin, easy to clean with water and leaves no marks on the floor or the walls.

Chicken

There is no other toy that can match bObles Crocodile when it comes to challenging your child’s balance and coordination skills. When your baby is little you can turn Crocodile over, and your baby can lay on its back, looking up at his or her parents while feeling a gentle tilting motion and sharing a moment of joy. Donut

Who does not love jumping? We believe every child and childlike soul should own a bObles Donut, simply because jumping sparks joy in everyone.

bObles Donut comes in three sizes, one for every family member. But just because you are big, does not necessarily mean that you should have the bigger Donut. Mom and dad will guaranteed love the movement and concentration that comes with sitting on Donut small on top of a chair. Just as the small baby will smile with joy when strengthening the neck and back on Donut medium.

Turn Donut sideways and have a blast as both toddlers, children and adults jump around the living room. The jumping sensation is a lot of fun for your baby when sitting on Donut, while mom and dad hold on tight. If you put your hands on bObles Donut and give it a little tap, your baby can feel the fun vibrations sparking excitement and curiosity. Clever design – Safe materials

Our passion is to give our children the best start in life. Research proof that this is attainable among other measures, if given the best conditions to develop their motor skills. Our timeless and inspiring designs are created in soft EVA-foam, giving children the possibility to challenge themselves on excellent terms for both them and their parents. The geometric shapes are not only inviting for the eye, but also functional around the home, and are either stackable or in other ways easy to pack away.

The choice of material is also smart, as the benefits of the EVA-foam are many:

• The soft EVA-foam feels like skin and doesn’t turn cold. This provides a sense of security and tactile stimulation for the child.

• The foam material is soft and will make falling and trying again much easier for the child.

• The material is strong enough to hold even a grown man without breaking and does not slide very easily.

• Makes no loud noises and does not scratch other furniture or walls when bumping into them.

• The foam contains no phthalates and is completely safe for children to put in their mouths.

• Very easy to clean with just water.

• The EVA-foam is created in close cell material, meaning that no bacteria can get in.

Sustainability and CSR working for a better planet

Children are our future, and at bObles we work dedicated to make conscious choices to reduce our imprint on the planet. By supporting world goal number 4 – ‘Responsible consumption and production’, we want to contribute to a more sustainable and meaningful consumption.

We create timeless products with a long product life circle, and we use only high-quality and durable materials. bObles tumbling pieces are designed to grow with the child for many years and are often passed on from child to child.

In the production process, we aim for zero-waste. As an example, the bObles ”Chicken” is cut from the same block as the bObles ”Elephant”, leaving a minimum of excess material. The material that is left, is passed on to other productions, such as production for shoe soles and similar. We are on an ongoing journey and strive towards finding more responsible production solutions and qualities. We also have quality control with our finished products, that are all finished by hand, allowing a certain different in sizes of the products to exist. This means that a waste in products is minimal.

At bObles we want to do the right thing, and our journey towards a more responsible business is ongoing.
