Welcome As we welcome the June 2026 edition of the SACPA Journal, I am reminded that safeguarding is a responsibility that continues to evolve alongside the complexities of the world we inhabit. Today’s professionals navigate increasingly interconnected challenges spanning mental health, digital environments, identity, extremism, inclusion, trauma, and community resilience. This edition brings together a powerful collection of voices and perspectives that reflect both the urgency and the hope within our sector. It is also the first edition since The Athena Programme joined SACPA to expand safeguarding training and consultancy support. Find out more about The Athena Programme on page 25. I extend my sincere thanks to all contributors for their expertise, passion, and commitment to safeguarding. I hope this journal informs, challenges, and inspires your practice.
