The perfect way for us all to remember THE BNTVA now has its own memorial plot in the Field of Remembrance being opened at Westminster Abbey on November 7 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The Field of Remembrance was started by the British Legion Poppy Factory in 1928 in order to provide a means for relatives of the Fallen to obtain comfort by remembering their own dead at a small cost and also to provide more work for the Disabled in this factory. Westminster Abbey is the national Pantheon of the Empire and is the home of remembrance of Heroes and those who served their country. It is the most natural place for bereaved relatives to remember and symbolises their sacrifice by planting a poppy thereby joining outward expression to their intimate inner feelings. The appearance of the plot remains the responsibility of the regiment/association concerned, but the Royal British Legion can help with special requests providing suitable notice is given. The Legion provide and plant an Identification Cross showing title and number of each plot without any additional cost.
