Terms & Conditions

All bulls will sell under the suggested terms and conditions of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association.

Welcome to the 2024 Edition of the Gelbvieh Advantage Bull Sale! As we sit back writing this year’s welcome, we become somewhat speechless. 2023 is a year that will go down in the books as a year that came in screaming, “You might want to buckle up!!”. This year our four boys decided they wanted to get more involved in the cattle industry, so we went along for the ride. This involved showing and exhibiting at various junior shows and packing out a large portion of our show string with their prefixes on them. If you see the BNH prefix, followed by another initial, those are animals that are managed within the BNH herd, just owned by one of our boys. Same genetics, same guarantees and quality, just owned by the next generation of BNH Livestock! With all that, we were blessed to be able to watch as they made connections and had great success throughout the year. We wrapped the year up in ways we never imagined possible, as our oldest, Colby, won Canadian National Champion Female with his cow/calf pair and then she was also crowed ORB Miss World. It takes a village to raise children and we are so fortunate to have found a pretty epic village of people within the cattle industry, that not only cheer them on along the way, but show up in ways we could never have dreamed. Whether that is a reminder to get back up and try again, to stick it out when it gets tough, to shake it off when you get run over, or a reminder to be “humble in your victory and gracious in your defeat”. These are all hard lessons that we watched our boys struggle through throughout the year and it was awesome to watch some of them spread their wings! After all the chaos of the show ring dies down, the true victory lies in the pastures. All of our “show cattle” find home in our pastures and that is where they are happy. They are working momma cows and females that need to prove their worth. We have spent years in the Gelbvieh breed aiming for a certain type of cow and dare I say that some of these goals are slowly coming to fruition. A cow herd that we are proud to walk anyone out into and be proud of. Females that make bulls that people want to keep a whole pen of replacement heifers out of and a set of Gelbvieh bulls that will rival any other breed around. We are proud of our cattle and hope that you too can appreciate the type and style of cattle that we aim to produce. These are functional cattle that can walk in a show ring and win a title and then walk back into the pasture and not skip a beat. This year’s pen of sale bulls are ones that we have searched high and low for these genetics and they have proven their quality by bringing home National Champion titles and Supreme Champion Titles. These boys have walked a 30 acre pasture their whole life and will continue to until they find their new homes. They are bulls that we have weeded out and bring you nothing but the best of our breeding program. They are thick made, sound and versatile. You are able to buy with confidence knowing that we have taken all the extra steps to ensure all the guess work is taken out. All bulls come semen checked, vet inspected, vaccinated and given fusoguard for hoofrot, carcass ultrasounded, parentage DNA’d and homo polled tested. These extra age bulls are ready to work! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you would like to stop in to take a look at the bulls in person. Sincerely,

Brad & Nicole Hollman 2

His dam is a cow that we think very highly of, has a picture perfect udder, is long spined and again, so incredibly free moving. HOMO POLLED Dirt Road Anthem is one of those once in a lifetime bulls. He has been named 2022 Farmfair Reserve Champion Gelbvieh Bull as a bull calf, and then 2023 National Champion Bull as a long yearling. We searched high and low for a Bar-E-L Natural Law female to build a program from and TIbbie is proving to be exactly what we were looking for. The females are gorgeous and the bulls speak for themselves, incredibly thick, stout made, sound on their feet and legs and tons of length of spine to give those added pounds. Dirt Road is easily one of the best bulls we have raised to date and we are excited to see him out making his mark in the breed in multiple programs. Selling Full Possession, 1/2 Semen Interest. HOMO POLLED Amarillo is one of the softest middled bulls that we have ever produced. He is a true replica of his sire, Hallelujah. He is thick made, big hipped, wide topped, deep ribbed and a temperament that is second to none. You top that off with one of the most talked about sires in the Angus breed, Bar-E-L Natural Law, and you get cross that you dont want to miss out on. Natural Law stamps his offspring with a thickness and eye appeal that is hard to compare, beautiful udders, clean fronted and jammed with eye appeal. On behalf of all of us at Brittain Farms, we would like to welcome you to the 2024 Gelbvieh Advantage

Bull Sale. We would like to give a huge thank you to past buyers, bidders, supporters and friends of the sale. Once again, this year the sale will be held as an online DLMS Farmgate Timed Auction on March 8-9, 2024. We know that with the combined offering of Brittain Farms and BNH Livestock, we have a bull to suit every bull requirement you may have. We have many bulls with calving ease pedigrees as well as a large group of bulls that will add pounds to your calves in the fall. All bulls are DNA parentage verified as well as homo polled tested. The bulls will be available for viewing at their respective farm anytime right up to the close of the sale on March 9th. Our bulls are fed a Total Mixed Ration of silage, hay, a high protein pellet along with a minimal amount of rolled barley. We feed to attain a 3 to 3.5 lb per day gain. This mix is developed together with our nutritionist at Country Junction Feeds. Our goal is to preserve the athletic ability, good feet and longevity in our bulls so that they will breed for you for many years in the future. With the current record prices in the cattle industry, we truly believe that for those of us that have hung on and stayed in the business, we will be rewarded for all the hard work that we have been doing. After all, Alberta Beef is still some of the best beef to be had worldwide. Now is the time to invest in a new herdsire and we can certainly help you with that. Give Kelly a call at 780-387-6446 to discuss all of your bull needs. Please remember to register with DLMS prior to March 9th to be able to bid on the two sale days. HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION WITH EXTENDED BIDDING: 1.Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS Farm Gate timed auction site www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your username and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity. 3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished. 5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases. For more info and assistance with bidding contact any of the sale contacts listed on the DLMS Website; DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions ~ Mark Shologan Ph: 780-699-5082

FAQ: WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Terms & Conditions Shipping/Delivery/Pickup: Consignors will assist in coordination of delivery and will get bulls to central points within a 300km radius of origin. Consignors will feed and manage bulls until April 1/2024, anything beyond this date must be arranged at time of sale. All bulls remaining at the farm require insurance. US purchases: Consignors will provide necessary health papers. Buyer will be in charge of trucking arrangements and costs.
