ABOUT US KNEEHILL VALLEY

Back in 1949 the Kneehill Valley 4-H Beef Club was formed and has been operating for 75 successful years. This year the club has 19 members and 10 cleaver members. Our members have been working all year on market steer projects, carcass steers, heifers, 2 year old and 3 year old cow calf pairs, as well as cleaver projects. They have worked on these projects since weigh in on November 4th with the goal of getting them ready for the one day show and sale on May 27th.

The club has had involvement from leaders, parents & thousands of youth, developing strong communication, leadership, organization, grooming and showmanship, just to name a few. Throughout the year members have learned about public speaking, record keeping, marketing, judging, showmanship, grooming, nutrition and feeding their project, as well as what it means to give back to their community by doing highway clean-up, community volunteering and caring for the Charity Steer to raise money for local charities and causes.

VALLEY

Why should you buy a 4-H steer?

Not only are you supporting local youth in agriculture but you are supporting the future generation and in turn you can fill your freezer with some of the best Alberta Beef that you will ever taste!

Rising prices in the stores have affected all of us and being able to fill your freezer or split a steer with family, friends or coworkers ensures that you will be buying the freshest, top quality beef that is customized to what you want.

What do I do with a whole steer?

Split it with family, friends and coworkers. Hand it out as gifts to employees as a bonus. Use it as company advertising and sell it back to the local feedlot, we do all the advertising for you!! Or simply keep it for yourself and have an incredible summer BBQ party!

HOW TO BUY

We have 19 member steers and one charity steer that will be auctioned off on May 27th at the Innisfail Auction Market.

This year we are happy to be able to sell calves live at the Innisfail Auction Market.

Register online on liveauctions.tv to bid from the comfort of your own home or while on the go.

Any of our members, parents or auction mart staff can set you up with phone bidding or proxy bids prior to the sale.

Hey, my name is Branden Howard I am 20 years old and this is my 10th year in 4H. I have recently graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology for architectural technologies and am currently employed by Eagle Builders in Blackfalds. Aside from starting my career and being an adult, I like to pass time by going fishing, hunting, playing hockey and riding bulls in rodeo circuits such as CARA, FCA and WRA. My steer is named Smooth Operator, after the 2019 professional bull riders bull of the year, Smooth Operator. Even while in college I had time to work with him and get home used to me, so he didn’t go off feed when I work with him. As my last year in 4h I am excited to participate one last time and give back to the organization that has given me so much!
