On behalf of the BMX New Zealand Board, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2025 Oceania BMX Racing Continental Championships, hosted by Taranaki Region at the New Plymouth BMX Club.

This event is a significant milestone on our biennial BMX calendar, and it’s wonderful to gather here in New Plymouth to celebrate the talent and passion so evident within the BMX community across Oceania. With over 500 Challenge and Championship riders from three countries entered for the event, it’s clear that the sport continues to thrive and grow across our confederation

A huge thank you goes to the OCC, New Plymouth BMX Club and also the Taranaki Region for their hard work in bringing this showcase event to life. Of course, an event of this scale wouldn’t be possible without the effort of so many. Our gratitude extends to the volunteers, and the officials who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of this event Your contribution is truly the backbone of our sport.

To all our competitors, we wish you every success as you take to the track. Whether you ’ re here to claim a title, make the finals, or simply enjoy the challenge, give it your all and savour the experience.

Taranaki offers a unique blend of stunning natural landscapes, our famous maunga, amazing beaches, a remarkable history, unforgettable walks and hikes and TWO vibrant BMX clubs. Welcome to Taranaki.

Firstly, a huge thank you to the New Plymouth BMX Committee, the track team, the Taranaki Region club families and volunteers and BMXNZ for the work done in preparing for this event and showcasing a fantastic BMX track and facility. ADDRESS OF EVENT

The venue is based at the New Plymouth BMX Club, Hickford Park, Bell Block, New Plymouth

ALCOHOL & SMOKING

All BMXNZ Major Events are Smoke, Vape, Drug and Alcohol Free Please adhere to this ruling, it is for the benefit of the riders & children at the event venue. Smoking or Vaping is not recommended at all, but if you must, please move as far away as possible on to the open fields, well away from the event facility and any track entrances.

ANIMALS & PETS

The event is a BMXNZ Major Event where the focus is on the riders & their preparation. No animals are allowed on the event site and there are no exceptions other than registered Working or Guide Dogs

BANNERS

Club or product banners are to be attached to club tents only, do not hang them over any existing signage around the track. Offending Banners will be removed. If you wish to promote other products or services, please contact the host club to arrange an approved display location

CODE OF CONDUCT

The event is a BMXNZ sanctioned event Please be aware of your riders, your supporters & your own demeanour & attitude at the event. We are here for the riders, most of which are kids. The Sports Code of Conduct applies at all times, in all areas, to all people present, not just the riders

PRACTICE TIMES

Practice times have been allocated based on the number of entries Track access prior to the event will be advised by the host club Please see the New Plymouth BMX Club Facebook for further information. Note: there may be practice available late Saturday afternoon this will be confirmed once entries close

TRANSPONDERS/EVENT REGISTRATION

This is a Transponder required event Transponders must be activated & registered with MYLAPS prior to this event. Transponders MUST be attached to the outside of the fork & must be on for all official BMXNZ event sessions including practice ALL transponders must be checked and entry detail must be confirmed on the BMXNZ test loop mat at the admin building, prior to starting practice, or racing.

TRANSPONDER RENTAL

BMXNZ will have rental transponders available on a first-come first served basis

Note: we will hold limited new transponder stock at events if you prefer to purchase a new device includes 1yr subscription. The device will need to be registered & activated.

Rental Price: $25 00 per event per transponder plus $50 00 deposit per transponder

RIDER CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT

Sprocket & Challenge - As per BMXNZ rule book 2 0 30

CHAMPIONSHIP - UCI is giving a derogation to the riders to not wear their national team clothing at the Oceania Continental Championships in the disciplines of BMX Racing. Note that this derogation is valid for 2025 only

REGISTRATION AND RACE PLATE ALLOCATION

Sprocket Class Event Number plates will be issued to riders at check-in & will be registered Event Number Plates must be used within this event only including all official practice sessions.

SPROCKETS

DO NOT REQUIRE A TRANSPONDER

Challenge & Championship Class Event Number plates will only be issued to riders at transponder check-in upon confirmation that their transponder is attached to their bike correctly and is functional The event number plate must remain affixed to the bike for the entire event, including all official practice sessions. Registration is required PRIOR to the rider's practice sessions. lures during racing, we go to camera as backup and if not definitive, a DNF is scored.

WARM UP AREA

There will be a warmup area on Sunday TBA Helmets MUST BE WORN at all times in this area. Riding in this space will be a CLOCKWISE directional loop Riders MUST run in the indicated direction Please respect other users

PRIZE GIVING:

Prize giving for ALL will be 30 mins after challenge finals, located onsite - truck to be used as podium.

Sprocket - all riders will receive an award Challenge - trophies will be presented to the top three placed riders & presentation plates will be presented to the top eight placed riders.

Championship - Oceania Medals & BMXNZ presentation plates will be presented to the top three placed riders & Oceania Jersey will be presented to the top rider only (1st Place).

GAZEBO (tent) HIRE

For travelling riders & families, if you are requiring a gazebo onsite please contact New Plymouth BMX Club (host club) to arrange email: npbmxrego@gmail.com

RUBBISH

It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that you keep your pit or club area tidy & place all rubbish in the bins provided New Plymouth are hosting a zero waste event and will be providing compost & recycling bins in addition to landfill Please take care to use the appropriate bin at each waste station Or better yet take your rubbish home...

STAGING

Staging will be run as a normal race event, but we ask Club Managers to assist BMXNZ to manage the amount of riders at the back of the ramp We would like to minimise the congregation at the prestaging, so timing of arrival for the staging is key.

Championship - 3 motos & Finals, unless class has 8 or less riders where it will be points over.

Challenge - 4 motos & Finals, unless class has 8 or less riders where it will be points over.

Sprockets 7yrs & Under - 4 motos - participation

Please note the format can change once registration is complete & all withdrawals are taken into effect. BMXNZ random computer moto mixing & lane draws is used for all challenge classes. moto draw is on our.sqorz.com when you click on the moto.

BMXNZ event Health and safety statement

BMXNZ, THE TARANAKI REGION AND NEW PLYMOUTH BMCCLUB WILL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK ACT 2015 BY COMMITTING TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN A SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL RIDERS, FAMILIES AND VISITORS TO THE BMX EVENT FACILITY. IT IS THE SPORTS POLICY TO “MAKE EVERY PRACTICAL AND REASONABLE EFFORT TO PROTECT ALL VISITORS, TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS OR SERIOUS HARM INJURIES AND PROMOTE SAFETY AND WELFARE OF ALL PERSONS WHILE ON THE EVENT FACILITY”.

BMXNZ, THE TARANAKI REGION AND NEW PLYMOUTH BMX CLUB WILL TAKE ALL POSSIBLE STEPS TO LIST AND EVALUATE HAZARDS AND TO DETERMINE SOLUTIONS TO ELIMINATE OR MINIMISE THOSE HAZARDS AS PART OF THE RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN (RMP), TO MEET THE SPORTS POLICY NOTED ABOVE. THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS.

BMX RACING IS AN ACTION SPORT AND INHERENTLY HAS RISKS THAT ARE ACCEPTED AS PART OF SPORT. ALL KNOWN RISKS ARE NOTED IN THE BMXNZ MAJOR MEETING RMP AND THIS IS AVAILABLE ONSITE DURING THE EVENT. PARTIES WANTING TO ASSESS THE RMP PRIOR TO ENTRY MUST CONTACT THE HOST CLUB FOR DETAIL. ENTRY TO THIS EVENT CONFIRMS AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE RISKS OF THE SPORT AS STATED IN THE RMP. IN THE EVENT OF AN INJURY TO AN EVENT PARTICIPANT, A COMPLETED ENTRY IS CONSENT TO PROPER MEDICAL TREATMENT BEING ADMINISTERED. EVENT ENTRY ALSO CONSENTS TO SUBMIT DRUG TESTING IF REQUIRED. ALL ENTRANTS AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE REGULATIONS AND GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR THIS EVENT AS PUBLISHED BY BMXNZ IN IT’S LATEST RULEBOOK.
