We are proud and excited to welcome you all here to the BMX New Zealand North Island Titles, held at New Zealand’s Northern most BMX Club. Our small but very commi:ed and diligent team have worked relessly in an cipa on of your arrival and hope that our Clubs and Regions offerings provide an everlas ng memory for you all.

To the community of Whangarei, the local businesses, the Whangarei District Council, Venues & Events Whangarei, The Oxford Sports Trust and the many, many, many people that have supported the prepara ons for this event, we extend our utmost gra tude and thanks. For without your ongoing support this event would not have been possible.

I would like to acknowledge the Whangarei BMX Club, its members and its supporters for all of the hours spent making all of this possible. I am par cularly proud of our Club Commi:ee who have remained steadfast in their efforts to create this spectacle for the spor ng community of BMX. 9th October 2017 On behalf of the BMX New Zealand Board I would like to welcome all members of the BMX Community, both competitors and supporting families, to the 2017 BMX New Zealand North Island Titles which are being hosted by the Northern BMX Region, and held at the Whangarei BMX Club track.

Unfortunately entries are the lowest they have been for a while (534 entries from 460 riders) but I’m sure it will still be a great event with some awesome racing from those who have made the trip North.

To those riders who have travelled from Australia to compete in the Mighty 11 TransTasman Test, we trust that you will enjoy the experience and the kiwi hospitality. It is great to see this historical challenge still going after many years and I’m sure this weekend will be another close battle. We also have 27 riders that have crossed the ditch to race in both Challenge & Championship so good luck to you also.

In preparing for these events there is much work that goes on behind the scenes which goes largely unnoticed and to that end our acknowledgement and appreciation is extended to the Whangarei BMX Club and the Northern BMX Region. Thank you for the time and effort you have put in preparing your facilities for these Titles.

To all the volunteers, and to those officials who are responsible for putting together the rosters, without your support these events simply wouldn’t happen so a big thank you goes out to you. Our sport should be very proud in the strength and ability of our very talented and well qualified volunteers and officials who staff these events making them run smoothly.

To the competitors, I hope that in these North Island Titles you achieve to your expectations, whether it is a North Island Title, a Test Team trophy, making the podium or reaching the final, ride hard, ride fair and particularly enjoy the experience.

21-22 October 2017 - Event Guidelines NORTHERN REGION & WHANGAREI BMX CLUB is proud to present the 2017 BMX New Zealand North Island Titles, the premier North Island event for BMX racing in New Zealand. The following guidelines will detail the event & all the requirements for entry.

EVENT LOCATION: Venue - Whangarei BMX Club, Address - William Fraser Memorial Park, Pohe Island, Whangarei ENTRIES CLOSE: ALL CLASSES close 8 pm - 24 September 2017. ONLINE ENTRY ONLY. NUMBER PLATES: Number plates will be issued to riders by the Club Team Manager and must be used within this event, including all official prac ce sessions.

A rider holding a 1 – 8 ranking from the following mee ngs; Worlds 2017, BMX NZ Na onal Championships 2017, Oceania Con nental Championships 2017, North Island Titles 2016 or South Island Titles 2017 and wish to use this number at the mee ng, the ranking must be clearly marked on the entry form. All riders not entering with these rankings or with an incorrect ranking will be issued with randomly selected numbers.

KIWI SPROCKETS: Riders will ride in UCI age classes for this event. Standard racing formats apply.

TIED POSITIONS: All ed posi ons will be separated by Countback. No run-offs will be held.

CONTINGENCY PLANS: In case of disrup on or weather, moto format may be changed, at the discre on of the Chief Commissaire. In cases of extreme delay or weather, Monday may be used as an alternate day for racing PRIZE GIVING: This will be held trackside Sunday 22 October, approximately 30 minutes aPer the finish of racing.

AWARDS & TROPHY ALLOCATION: Determined from the me that entries close for Trophy purposes.

BMXNZ EVENT HEALTH & SAFETY STATEMENT BMXNZ, The Northern Region & Whangarei BMX Club will comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 2015 by commiXng to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all riders, families and visitors to the BMX Event facility. It is the sports policy to “make every prac cal and reasonable effort to protect all visitors, to prevent accidents or serious harm injuries and promote safety and welfare of all persons while on the event facility”.

BMXNZ, The Northern Region & Whangarei BMX Club will take all possible steps to list and evaluate hazards and to determine solu ons to eliminate or minimise those hazards as part of the Risk Management Plan (RMP), to meet the sports policy noted above.

BMX Racing is an ac on sport & inherently has risks that are accepted as part of sport. All known risks are noted in the BMXNZ Major Mee ng RMP & this is available onsite during the event. Par es wan ng to assess the RMP prior to entry must contact the club for detail.

Entry to this event confirms an understanding of the risks of the sport as noted in the RMP. In the event of injury to an event par cipant, a completed entry is consent to proper medical treatment being administered. Event entry also consents to submit to drug tes ng if required. All entrants agree to be bound by the regula ons and general condi ons for this event as published by BMXNZ in its latest rule book.
