PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Graham Patterson - President A ‘distanced’ hello to all BMWDCSA members and their families. I trust you are all well and coping with whatever changed circumstances you have found yourself in over the past months. Of all the things that I anticipated, when I took over the Club Presidency in June 2017 was a shutdown of events due to a pandemic – very remiss of me, I should have seen it coming! Prior to the crisis there were the bushfires with 6 members in vulnerable areas - Steve Campbell (Woodside), Paul & Ruth Lonsdale (Woodside), Steve Mahlo (Woodside) and Garry Beaton (Lenswood) were in the thick of it but escaped injury or loss. Richard Young on Kangaroo Island lost his farmland, hay-stock and fences to the fire. However, he did save his cattle, house, machinery and most outbuildings. In spite of this, the business of managing the Club continues with the day to day administration and planning for the future when the ‘normal’ rhythm of life returns … then we can resume social drives, meetings and generally messing about with BMW’s – that will be a great day! One of the goals I have is to try and take some events a little further afield and we were considering a weekend away later in the year perhaps to Renmark or maybe the Barossa Valley, where we can connect with some of our country members, however with the disruptions to the year and the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, this will now be deferred until 2021.
Finally, as restrictions ease, those members with 30 year plus conditional use ‘Logbook’ cars—you need to get them out on the road to keep them in working order. While you are filling in your Logbook please check that it is in date and validated as is required. Please see the following notes under the Club Registrars update.
