A mere slap on the wrist. That was how lawyer Sandy Roxas described the punishment that a local court has handed to a woman who hurled racist tirades and as well as physically assaulted a Filipina American in a mall in Torrance. “She (suspect) may not even serve a day of that 47 days of jail term,” Roxas said, explaining that the condition prevailing in the local jail as a consequence of the pandemic may prompt authorities to just let the accused walk away. “It would have been better if the court just ordered her to do community work,” the lawyer added. Lena Hernandez, 54, of Long Beach, agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor battery in exchange for a sentence of 47 days in county jail. The court also put Hernandez on a three-year- probation while attending anger-management classes; was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away LAWYER
