Activists break into Lumads’ forum, trigger a noisy scuffle

noisy scuffle broke out among a group of Filipino American activists, security personnel and supporters of a group of Indigenous people from the Philippines during a forum at the Community Hall of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Los Angeles last Monday (July 15). Videos of the incident that went viral on social media showed young persons verbally confronting a panel of indigenous people from the Philippines, particularly from the southern main island of Mindanao, as they were talking about alleged atrocities committed against members of their communities by cadres of the New People’s Army (NPA). Mayor Isko a ‘total rockstar’ – US envoy
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso is a “total rock star,” according to US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim when the two met at the envoy’s office on Friday. The US ambassador commended Moreno for the “new dynamism

and how Domagoso supported and implemented it while reminding authorities to respect human rights. “We appreciate your approach. JaMes Calacsan, who won a gold medal for the United States team last year in the vocal solo category, rendered a powerful version of the popular song “The Prayer” that stunned the crowd and delegates at the opening night of the 23rd World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach.

fore the parade last Saturday (July 13). According to him, around 3,000 talents auditioned for inclusion to the Philippine team. “That’s a lot of talents. And we can only thank SM (Shoe Mart) for providing
the venues for these auditions,” Mercado narrated. Auditions were held in many SM locations in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Mercado also said that as usual, most of those who made it to 83-YEAR-OLD
