Rizal as among the pioneers of non-violent social change in the world. During a speech in front of the hero’s monument in the Carson City Hall grounds, Dear said that Rizal was “not just a Filipino national hero but a great world leader.” “He was a man who had great vision about how to change the world without violence. PHOENIX, AZ. — In the conference room of the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center, a chair sat empty at a recent convening of community media and stakeholders to promote Arizona’s 2020 census. Lizbeth Luna, regional director for NALEO’s Arizona census initiative, abruptly cancelled as a speaker, learning her father had been detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE). PHILIPPINE Senator Cynthia Villar took time out from her family vacation to speak at a Christmas Party of the Los Angeles Philippine Women’s Club (LAPWC) last Sunday (December 12, 2019). The controversial Filipino senator told the crowd that she decided to come to the event because it was being hosted by a women’s group that was also of the oldest Filipino American organization. The event was held at the Scientology Community Center in North Hollywood. “Bilang isang babae, I want to help fellow women in all their endeavors for freedom and better life,” Villar said. VILLAR
