President’s Message Welcome back to July’s Builder’s Buzz edition! Our summer is in full swing and so is our construction season. We are seeing an uptick in the number of permits issued. Last month in June, we had double the amount of permits issued from the previous year and even the year before that! So, we are surely seeing an increase in activity withing the building industry in our region. First off on June 18th the BMHBA hosted our “Backyard picnic” at the local BMHBA office for our new members local subcontractors. Thank you to all of you who took the time to stop by and enjoy lunch and a visit with other members. Also, once again a big thank you to those of our builders who sponsored the event! Other news from June: our very own Dawn Watson ANDREW MELDAHL 2025 BMHBA PRESIDENT and Joe Hillerson of Boulder Homes, representing the NDAB, participated in the trip to Washington DC for the NAHB Spring Leadership meeting and Legislative Conference. They met with our state representatives and participated in many meetings with our NHAB! Our 38 th annual BMHBA PAC golf tournament was on Tuesday July 8th. We enjoyed seeing everyone at Prairie West golf course in Mandan for another wonderful event put on by the BMHBA! As I always conclude, let’s keep striving to continue our growth in membership recruitment and support. Our association does many wonderful things for our building industry. Let’s continue to grow and support one another! I hope you all enjoy some time off for a wonderful fourth of July with friends and family!

The North Dakota Association of Builders and members from the Building Industry Association of the RRV, Minot Association of Builders, and our own Joe Hillerson of Boulder Homes and our EO Dawn Watson of the Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association attended the National Association of Home Builders Spring Leadership Meetings and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. last week. They all had the pleasure of meeting with North Dakota's delegation and staff, Senator John Hoeven, Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, and Senator Kevin Cramer to discuss tax policy, energy codes, and workforce development. . Continuing conversations with members of Congress is vital to our organization and the home-building industry! Members also participated in numerous NAHB meetings throughout the week and attended various NAHB and BUILD-PAC events.

Around Our State With summer being the busiest time of the year for our members, we hope you are still able to enjoy the next few months with friends and family amidst your working hours. Stay safe and cool in the heat! Various NDAB members and association staff recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the National Association of Home Builders Spring Leadership Meetings and Legislative Conference. We had a productive week of NAHB meetings which includes the Leadership Council meeting where our state’s National Delegates vote and act as the voice of the home building industry. NAHB’s Legislative Conference took place on June 11th where over 1,000 NAHB members gathered on Capitol Hill. Our group met with our North Dakota BOB HORAB BRITTNEY ROEHRICH delegation which included Senator Hoeven, Congresswoman Fedorchak and 20245NDAB PRESIDENT NDAB CEO Senator Cramer. Various issues were discussed including energy codes, tax policy, lumber tariffs, and workforce development. Continuing conversations with members of Congress is vital to our organization and the home-building industry. Thank you to those who took the time to come to Washington, D.C. to be the voices of NDAB on behalf of our members!
