President’s Message

Welcome back to our December and final Builder Buzz of 2025! This will also bring my time as President of the BMHBA to an end. I have been fortunate enough to step in and serve an additional year as the HBA President, and the past two years have been an extremely rewarding experience. Thank you to our HBA staff, all of our board members, and to all the BMHBA members who have supported the association over the years. All of you are what keeps this wonderful association thriving to support those in the building community. Next month will be an exciting month as we welcome the upcoming 2026 President of the BMHBA, Joe Vetter of Joe Vetter Construction!

November was a busy month with our quarterly NDAB meetings in Grand Forks. We also recognized Joe Hillerson as Builder of the Year on the State level and Jamie Schmidt receiving the BEAM award at the state level. Congrats and a very well deserving award to you both. The HBA has also opened registration for the 2026 49th Annual Home Show at the Bismarck Event Center March 20th -21st Make sure to contact Dawn or Jennifer at the office to reserve your spot as spots are filling up fast!

To finish off our 2025 building season, we did see a considerable uptick in building permits issued throughout the year, and I highly expect to see 2026 surpass this year. I would like to wish best of luck to all of you in your upcoming 2026 build season!

As I always conclude, let’s keep striving to continue our growth in membership recruitment and support. Our association does many wonderful things for our building industry and our community. Let’s continue to grow and support one another!

From my family to yours, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

BMHBA PWB

The Bismarck Mandan Professional Women in Building had a meaningful and memorable month. One that celebrated both our future and our foundation.

We were honored to be invited by the Gateway to Science Center to participate in their Stepping into STEM program, an event designed to introduce 8th-grade girls to real-world career paths in science, technology, engineering, and related industries. Two of our members (Sara Bender and Kari Anderson) each shared a concise, engaging five-minute overview of their careers, offering insight into their journeys and the opportunities within our field. Following the presentations, they led a 15-minute hands-on activity with the students, which gave the girls a chance to explore concepts in a fun and interactive way. With the support of additional PWB volunteers, they were able to guide the students through each session and spark genuine excitement about future possibilities. Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to try something new truly reminded us why outreach like this is so important.

Adding to the excitement of the month, our council also hosted a special Anniversary Celebration, marking FIVE INCREDIBLE YEARS of impact, growth, and giving back to our community. Members and gathered to honor how far we’ve come expanding programs, strengthening industry partnerships, investing in education, and continuing to empower women across the Bismarck Mandan building community. From inspiring the next generation to celebrating our own milestones, this month was a powerful reminder of our mission: to build, support, and elevate women in our industry, today and for years to come.
