President’s Message Welcome to the August issue of the Building Buzz! Construction season is in full swing, and many of us are working hard, getting ready for the Fall Parade of Homes, taking place September 24–27. Contracts were sent out earlier this month, so if you’re planning to participate, be sure to get registered. If you have any questions or need additional information, Dawn or Jennifer are always happy to help. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Annual BMHBA PAC Golf Tournament at Hawktree Golf Course on July 13. We had a great turnout and a fantastic day on the course, even with temperatures reaching 103 degrees! We appreciate everyone who braved the heat and helped make it another successful tournament.

We also just wrapped up our 19th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot on August 6. This is an event that continues to grow each year, with more shooting stations, more prizes, and increased participation and registrations. It has been exciting to see the continued growth and enthusiasm surrounding the event, and we look forward to carrying that momentum into the years ahead. The Golf Tournament and Sporting Clay Shoot continue to be two of our most anticipated member events each year, and it’s always great to see so many familiar faces come out to participate. If you missed either event this year, we hope you’ll make plans to join us next year! A special thank you goes out to all of our sponsors, participants, and volunteers who help make these events possible. A lot of work goes into organizing these events and creating opportunities for our members to get together, have some fun, and strengthen connections within our association.
We have many things to be grateful for as an association, and the opportunity to spend time together and support one another is certainly one of them. The North Dakota Association of Builders and members from the Building Industry Association of the RRV, Minot Association of Builders, Forx Builders Association, Western Area Builders Association WABA, and the Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association attended the National Association of Home Builders Spring Leadership Meetings and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. the beginning of June. More than 1,100 builder, remodeler and associate members were on Capitol Hill to call for congressional action to improve affordability and help builders to increase the production of affordable, attainable homes.
August 10, North Dakota Association of Builders Senior Officer & Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association Past President Joe Hillerson was part of a housing roundtable hosted by Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak. Other roundtable participants included federal, state and local housing leaders, developers and community bankers.

Around Our State Summer is winding down, but we are definitely still feeling the heat! I hope you all enjoy the last part of the warm weather with family and friends. We recently held our summer events out west in Medora! Our Summer meetings and Social took place on August 4th at the Rough Riders Hotel. We also toured the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and had a golf outing at the Bully Pulpit Golf Course. We were very grateful to have NAHB’s Chairman of the Board Bill Owens be our special guest. Thank you to those who joined us! NAHB’s Association Management Conference (AMC) is coming up in St Louis, Missouri on August 25-27. This is a professional development conference for association Executive NATE APPLEGREN BRITTNEY ROEHRICH Officers and staff. This year, either an EO or staff member from each of our local 2026 NDAB PRESIDENT NDAB CEO associations will be in attendance! At AMC, EOs and staff gather to learn, create a community of HBA peers to consult with, and share ideas and walk away with actionable steps to create a stronger and more profitable association. Registration opens for the 2027 International Builders’ Show® (IBS) on Tuesday, September 1st. The 2027 show will take place in Las Vegas, NV on February 2-4. Go to www.buildersshow.com to find out more information and to register in September. You will also be able to access the NDAB hotel block at the Westgate Hotel once registration opens. Our hotel block fills up quickly, so don’t hesitate to book your room! NDAB will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary during our Annual Banquet & Meeting of the Members on November 3 rd in Minot. While in Minot we will also have various committee meetings and our Fall Board Meeting. We look forward to hosting NAHB’s First Vice Chairman Bob Peterson in ND! Be on the lookout in early fall for official email invitations with registration. All meetings and events will be held at the Sleep Inn.
