A Letter from the President:

It is hard to believe that my first year as school president has already passed. In many ways, it has been a learning experience as there are many moving parts that keep the school running all throughout the year. One of the things that I have come to appreciate the most is the talent and dedication of our faculty and staff. We truly have a faculty and staff who serve our school well and who have dedicated their lives to the education and formation of our young people.

The school and the campus have grown significantly since opening our doors in 1950. This year, we are looking forward to the development of a strategic plan that will help guide us in planning for the future. The last time a strategic plan was developed was over 20 years ago. We have engaged Meitler and Associates to facilitate this process, and over the fall semester they will consult with students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni to see and hear their impressions, hopes and dreams for the school’s future. There is always a temptation in any institution to grow complacent and feel as though we are fine just the way we are or have been in the past. However, in a rapidly changing world, any institution that remains stagnant and selfcongratulatory will have a difficult time progressing.

One area that we know we will need to focus on is our Endowment Funds. We are so grateful to generous donors who have prioritized scholarships, so that all students can afford to attend our school. Unfortunately, we do not have significant endowments for operations, faculty enrichment and facility maintenance. A school our size should have an operations endowment of at least $30 million to $40 million. Ours rests at about $4 million overall. There are many reasons for this, but primarily because over the last many years we needed brick and mortar projects to update and expand our facilities. However, our main school building and the gym are now over 20 years old and starting to need repairs as well. For example, if we were to have a $40 million endowment, that would contribute $1.5 million of revenue to help with faculty salaries and maintenance and allow additional funds to be used for tuition

assistance and other areas. This important growth, however, will take time and encouragement.

On Sept. 7, our school patron, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, was Canonized by Pope Leo XVI at the Vatican. We celebrated with an All-School Mass. We are the only church or chapel in the state of Oklahoma dedicated to Pier Giorgio’s memory. The chapel is used for weekday Masses, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confessions, prayer services, and many of our students seek a quiet refuge in our chapel throughout the school day. As a Catholic college preparatory school, prayer and spiritual formation must remain the keystone of all that we do. In visiting our school, you will notice new religious imagery, and our main entrance now has a statue of the risen Christ greeting all who enter.

In addition, we opened our spirit store in the main entry of the school this year. It will enable parents, alumni and students much greater access to McGuinness branded items such as shirts and sweatshirts as well as school uniforms. Now, we have not only have a brick and mortar store, but also a much larger online store on our newly redesigned website. As we begin a new school year, let us pray that God will continue to lead our students and school “Towards the Top.” May God bless you all.

Dr. Andrew Worthington

I believe without equivocation that education is the means by which anyone, if given the right opportunity, can strive for and achieve their goals in life. Now in my second year as principal and my 22nd year at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, I am more steadfast in this belief than ever. This conviction is shaped not only by my experience as a student at Queen Mary’s Grammar School in Walsall, England, at the University of Birmingham (UK), and at the University of Oklahoma, but also by what I have witnessed on a daily basis at McGuinness. Time and again, I have seen that a combination of hard work, discipline, and a respect for each other’s human dignity will cultivate success and see lofty goals not just attained but surpassed.

What distinguishes the educational experiences above and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School is one essential element: the spiritual life. A school that promotes an understanding of hard work, discipline, and respect for each other’s dignity will have the key ingredients for success, but that success needs universal truth in the search for knowledge. That is what is found in Catholic education. To be a student at Bishop McGuinness is to be immersed in a Christcentered, Catholic, college-preparatory education. It illuminates a path of truth that allows faith to seek understanding during the most formative years of a young person’s life. Catholic education provides an intellectual foundation rooted in faith and reason at a time in history where there has never been so much information available at the swipe of a finger to influence developing minds. At Bishop McGuinness, the life of a student at the school is formed first by faith and family then by academics, athletics and extracurriculars—in that order.

The 2024-2025 academic year was one of meaningful change and transition. The introduction of a president-principal model after 75 years was both necessary and innovative. However, the central focus of the year was clear: maintaining consistency in Catholic education for our students, faculty, staff, and families, even in the midst of a change in leadership. This consistency did not mean that significant

innovation did not take place, as we looked to further expand the school’s mission of creating a Christcentered compass for life. Firstly, it was a primary goal for the physical environment of the school to reflect its Catholicity in its appearance. Sacred art is now seen throughout the school, providing daily reminders of our faith. Secondly, we expanded access to a Catholic college preparatory education to all students. The Rother program’s inaugural year saw students with extensive learning needs access the goals of Catholic education for every child and provided students with a path to accessing transitional programs at the university level. Thirdly was the facilitation of increased opportunities for all students to participate in rigorous academic programs. This included continuing our open access to Advanced Placement courses, which this year saw a record number of students pass a record number of exams. We also developed new college-level courses and revised current curriculum to reflect the needs of an ever-changing post-high school landscape.

These are exciting times for the school, and as we embark on the strategic planning process, the school’s future has never been brighter. Thank you for your continued support and your commitment to Catholic education. As a school, we are guided by Christ to be “a Person for Others” and to live the message of the Gospels. I want to thank the dedicated faculty and staff who day in and day out live up to this lofty goal and the students who strive to walk this path in the school every day. Go Irish!

AP SCHOLARS

The College Board released the Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards for the 2024-25 school year. Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School is proud to announce that 156 of its students earned this recognition for their exceptional achievement on the exams. In total, 359 students took 725 exams with 86% of students earning a score of 3 or higher.

In the class of 2025, 72% of graduates took an AP exam while at McGuinness, while the national average was 35.7%. In addition, 62% scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, almost three times the national average (22.6%) and over six times the state average (10%).

Number of AP Scholars Increases for Third Consecutive Year

This spring, 359 Bishop McGuinness students took 725 Advanced Placement exams in 26 subjects with 86% of students earning a passing score of 3 or higher. Of these, 156 students were named AP Scholars, the largest number of McGuinness students to ever receive the honor.

The Advanced Placement program offers college-level courses for students while still in high school. Beyond providing students the academic rigor and experience of a college-level class, these courses also offer the opportunity for students to earn college credit for qualifying scores on the end of the year AP exam.

With the AP Scholar Awards, College Board’s Advanced Placement Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams.

The different award levels are described below:

• AP Scholar — Students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

• AP Scholar with Honor — Students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

• AP Scholar with Distinction — Students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

School Highlights

YEARBOOK AWARDS

The Chi Rho yearbook staff was awarded the Sweepstakes award for the 2024 yearbook at the annual Oklahoma Scholastic yearbook competition. Bishop McGuinness had the top score out of all of the Oklahoma yearbooks for Division II. This was a repeat for the staff as the 2023 yearbook also received the Sweepstakes award. In addition, the staff earned 13 first place awards for specific aspects of the yearbook, eight second place awards, and three third place awards.

NEWSPAPER AWARDS

The Chi Rhoan news staff won the James F. Paschal Sweepstakes award for the Chi Rhoan online (www. ChiRhoan.com), ranking it as the best student news site in Oklahoma for Oklahoma Scholastic Media Divisions II & III. The awards were presented March 26 at the Paycom Center. Prior to the awards presentation, members of both the newspaper and yearbook staffs spent the day learning from seasoned professionals in the journalism and public relations fields.

SPEECH & DEBATE

The Speech & Debate team competed against 21 other teams and won the State Championship for the fourth year in a row. Forty-one students competed in 62 different events in total. The Irish took home awards in 13 different acting, speaking and debate categories.

NATIONAL SPEECH & DEBATE

75th Campaign Donors

Thanks to the generosity of the Irish community, the students, faculty and staff have five new classrooms, a lecture hall, restrooms and office space for the Advancement Department. The new wing, which was funded by a Capital Campaign to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the school, opened in time for the start of school in August 2024.

School Highlights

The Rother Program: Building Confidence, Friendship and Inclusion

This year, Bishop McGuinness instituted the Rother Program, an initiative designed to support students with extensive learning needs. The program places students with learning differences in mainstream classes alongside peer mentors who help guide them through daily tasks and academics. Rather than following the standard diploma track, Rother students pursue a certification path that prepares them for transitional college campuses across the state.

At the heart of the Rother Program is the belief that every child is made in the image of God. The opportunity to serve a wider range of students with aspirations for college is both a blessing and a responsibility. During its first year, the program not only achieved success—it exceeded expectations. Students, peer mentors, and teachers alike learned invaluable lessons and witnessed tremendous growth.

“The success of the Rother Program is due in large part to the dedication of our peer mentors,” said Carlee Batchelder, assistant REACH coordinator.

“Both the mentors and Rother students are learning life skills that will help them be successful as they grow through life.”

The relationships built within the program have reached far beyond the classroom. Friendships have developed that continue throughout the

school day and into students’ lives outside of class, strengthening the sense of community across campus. Rother students have become more confident and social, finding joy and purpose in being fully included members of the Bishop McGuinness family.

Participation in school life has been a highlight. One Rother student proudly served as a basketball manager, while another joined the band, bringing enthusiasm and spirit to every rehearsal and game. The students have embraced the structure and discipline of the programs, making it a truly inclusive and meaningful experience for all involved.

School Celebrates Jubilee Year with Eucharistic Procession

The smell of incense and the sound of bells and cantors singing filled the school February 25th as a Eucharistic Procession moved through the halls in honor of Jubilee Year 2025.

Joined by altar servers and theology teachers, Msgr. Rick Stansberry processed with the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance from the chapel through the hallways of the school. Symbolic of their current status as pilgrims on the way to full reunion with God, students, faculty and staff left their classrooms and offices to kneel in reverence as the procession passed.

As an altar server in the procession, freshman Franchesca Santos, witnessed the students’ reaction along the way.

“Seeing all of the students kneeling and bowing

and genuflecting, it made me hopeful for our future, but also in the school that we were growing closer to God in this way,” Santos said.

Campus Minister Kelly Allen organized the Eucharistic Procession in an effort to teach students about the Jubilee tradition. She said the idea for the procession came from a group of parents. Once approved by Stansberry and school administrators, the school’s Saint Tarcisius Society began finding altar servers for the event, and the theology teachers worked to educate the student body.

“One thing that I love about this was that it was a full community event,” Allen said. “All of the staff and the faculty helped set the tone. I was in awe of how respectful and reverent the community was. It really was a whole, school-wide effort.”

Irish Community Celebrates the Election of New Pope

With the loss of our beloved Pope Francis came the opportunity for students to experience a papal conclave and election. Theology teachers spent time educating students about the conclave process.

Msgr. Rick and students watched the televisions in the Commons between classes and at lunch with anticipation for white smoke.

The Spiritual Leadership class painted a Habemus Papam banner, ready to be displayed.

But how to celebrate as a whole school, at a moment’s notice, with available resources? Perhaps the answer came through divine revelation — Pope Corn! Director of Campus Ministry Kelly Allen asked students from the senior class for help. They started

making bags, and staff member Stacy Pearson provided guidance on how to make the popcorn.

When Pope Leo XIV was announced as our new pope, the “pope corn” production was well underway. By the end of the school day, there were hundreds of bags of Pope Corn ready to be handed out to students in the Commons.

Seniors Host 10th Annual Halloween Carnival for Boys & Girls Club

The Class of 2025 worked together to plan and host the 10th annual “Monster Fest,” a Halloween carnival for children and their families at the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County.

The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County, located just about 1 mile from Bishop McGuinness, provides youth centers to over 1,200 kids each day where they can go after school to grow beyond the classroom. They aim to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Monster Fest was led by Campus Minister Kelly Golbuff, Senior Class Sponsor Christine PankratzWest, and senior Student Council members. Each member of the senior class devoted their time and resources volunteering in preparation and during the carnival. The carnival included games, face paint, candy, and much more for over 500 attendees.

Senior Class President Ashlyn Dolan said the project had a great impact on the school community. She hopes future classes will continue to get involved and enjoy the process of participating in the service project. “It made me realize how something as

simple as handing out a prize or planning a game could mean so much to someone,” Dolan said.

Head Football Coach Leads Bible Study for Student Athletes

Meet Bishop McGuinness Head Football Coach

Ryan Stringer! Ryan grew up in Western Oklahoma where he was raised and surrounded by a strong family of school administrators, teachers, and coaches. Stringer attended Clinton High School, then Southwestern Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship where he played and met his now wife, Caroline. They eventually landed in Oklahoma City and married in 2016. They have one adorable son, Jackson, and are excited to welcome their second son, Henry, this October.

Stringer joined McGuinness as an assistant football coach in the fall of 2015, and began teaching Sophomore Leadership and Weight Training classes in 2019. Stringer earned the position of Head Football Coach in January 2024. Coach Stringer’s incredible leadership and his care for each of his

players has driven his immense success. Coach Stringer believes that every member of the team is a valuable member. He treats his players with love and respect, but holds them to the highest of standards. He believes in helping them become not only the best players they can be, but also the best young men they can be.

Coach Stringer began a weekly bible study with his players last season, meeting once a week after practice. Around 15 athletes participated last year. The bible study became very important to the players and helped them support each other on and off the field.

Stringer hopes for McGuinness to be the best program for families to send their young men to play the game of football. He strives to provide opportunities for his players to grow in their spiritual and academic journeys as well. “We want to compete with the best of the best on the field and outperform them in the classroom as well.”

For Andrew Harris ’26, the bible study was more than just a weekly gathering.

Attending Bible study with the football team was one of the most beneficial parts of my season—sharing scripture together not only strengthened my faith, but it also built a deeper bond of trust and accountability with my teammates, making us stronger both on and off the field.”

Community Comes Together for the Ameri-CAN Food Drive

Last fall, the Bishop McGuinness Student Council hosted the annual canned food drive supporting the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The Canned Food Drive began in the 1990s to bring sustenance to families throughout Oklahoma. After much planning and preparation, the 2024 Canned Food Drive was a great success with over 600 students donating food that resulted in 85,000 meals!

The fundraising chairs, Eve Moen ’26, Peri Mossman ’25, and Mikey Al-Botros ’25, began preparing for the drive months in advance. They hosted many events and offered many donation opportunities throughout the fall, including free dress days for students and miracle minutes to gather donations at softball, football and volleyball games. They decided on a theme (the Ameri-CAN Food

Drive), planned events, designed T-shirts and hosted events to raise funds and contributions for the drive.

Students were encouraged to bring 60 pounds of canned food each. Once they reached this total, they received free dress through the month of November for their generosity. Student Council members gave their time to collect cans every day before school, beginning at 7 a.m.

This strong partnership between the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the Bishop McGuinness community has a strong impact on students, supporters, and the greater Oklahoma community.

Alexa Lienhard ’11 Leads OKC with Thunder Spirit

We can all agree that OKC Thunder fans are the best fans in the world. This year, a 2011 Bishop McGuinness graduate, Alexa Lienhard, took matters into her own hands to show her Thunder pride and help the city show theirs!

Alexa, her mom, LeAnn, and her aunt, Jayne, decided they wanted to have yard signs for the OKC Thunder Playoffs. When an internet search proved unsuccessful, they decided their best decision would be to make their own. Alexa ordered 50 and reached out to friends and family who might want one as well. With this first order, she ended up with 10 extra signs and posted an Instagram story to see if anyone wanted them. Within 5 minutes, all 10 were claimed. After a second order of 80 signs was made and claimed, the whole city began to take notice.

Individuals began reaching out to Alexa to claim

a sign, then individuals purchasing for their whole street, then neighborhood associations for their entire community, real estate agents for their buyers, etc. The famous orange signs even made it to Thunder players’ yards! The signs could be seen in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Tulsa, Duncan, Enid, Dallas, Denver, Nashville and Virginia!

Alexa was featured on a local news station for her city-wide contribution to the OKC Thunder spirit. With over 2,750 yard signs sold, she was able to celebrate the OKC Thunder Championship with so many fans in our community!

Caring for Future Generations

Dexter ’73 Looks Forward to Giving Back

While at Bishop McGuinness, Steve Dexter ’73 learned the importance of helping people, and that, he says, is the key to everything.

Fascinated by finance and the economy, Dexter became a real estate expert and has mentored thousands during his career. But his path into the industry wasn’t a straight one.

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Psychology, Dexter worked for the Department of Human Services for three years and then as a mud logger in the oil business for another three years. When the recession hit, he ended up moving to Houston for a job transfer. He worked as a bill collector for five years before moving to California in 1987.

At the age of 35, Dexter decided he wanted to better understand his unique skills and where he could best succeed, so he took a Myers-Briggs Personality Test. The results suggested he pursue a career in real estate or as a stock broker, coach, public

speaker or mortgage broker. Soon after, he was studying for a real estate license when he saw an ad from a mortgage company looking for a telemarketer. Forty-five days later, Dexter cashed his first commission check.

Dexter met his wife Susan at the Tall Club of Orange County. At the time, the height requirements were 5’10” for women, and 6’2” for men. They danced and talked all evening. She said he, “was the most unusual guy she’d ever met.” Two years later they were married.

Today, Dexter is a full-time real estate investor who has written three bestselling books, taught college courses, given speeches at Harvard, UCLA, and Boston College, and appeared on Fox, Fox Business and CNBC.

Dexter said that he learned:

There is always somebody out there who is where you want to be, and you can always model yourself to get where you want to be.”

Doing that and helping people, a skill he learned during his time at Bishop McGuinness, brought him much success. Dexter continues to live in both Oklahoma City and Laguna Beach, California. While

he maintains a great lifestyle in Laguna Beach, his heart and spirit remain with his family in Oklahoma City.

“If you help enough people get what they want, you can have anything that you want,” Dexter said. Now, 52 years after graduating from Bishop McGuinness, Dexter says it is time to start giving stuff away. He said he spent the first half of his life acquiring his fortune, and he will spend the second half leaving his legacy. He looks forward to establishing the Dexter Family Endowment Fund to benefit the Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School indefinitely.

John Bane lives in Texas, and his son Jonathan and family make their home in Austin. Bane writes that he is in touch with most members of the great BMCHS Class of 1962. They have two Class lunches twice a year in OKC.

1972

John Andrews has five grandkids. His oldest, Maddie, will be a freshman at Utah in Fall 2025.

1982

Bestselling author Lou Berney celebrated the Nov. 5 release of his new book Double Barrel Bluff

1984

Tish Winkleman is a widow with two adult sons, living in Joplin, MO. Tish received an Associates Degree in Business in 1990 and enjoyed a 20+ year career in accounting.

1985

Joe Ferretti is married to Meg (Nichols) Ferretti ’87

Brooke Bourlon Crowder founded the Mountain View Foundation, which is located on the Mountain View Ranch, a 400-acre forest sanctuary in southwestern Colorado. The foundation works with youth groups and other service organizations to offer a place to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate.

Laurie Norman says she is getting ready for the class reunion. “I can’t believe it’s been 40 years!”

1986

Mark Connell is a vice president of sales for a medical/surgical device company. He says he spends most of his days in scrubs supporting surgical cases throughout the United States.

1987

Todd Griffin works at Public Strategies. He has an incoming freshman at BMCHS. He attends Corpus Christi Church, and loves relaxing with friends. His wife is a scientist, but in her free time she’s a fitness instructor and trainer. She loves to dance and has a small dance studio for under represented children.

Mark Wewers practices family law in the Dallas Forth Worth area. He was named Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters/Texas Monthly Magazine 2023-2025.

1990

Patricia Busby O’Shaughnessy was recently named Chief Financial Officer at La Jolla Playhouse. La Jolla Playhouse is a renowned, Tony Awardwinning regional theatre in La Jolla, California. It’s known for its adventurous and innovative productions, often serving as a launching pad for shows that later move to Broadway. The Playhouse aims to advance theater as an art form and foster dialogue about important issues. Go Irish!

Barbara Woods has two adult daughters: Elizabeth and Erin who were in the class of 2018.

Korie Brown loves to travel and is about to be an empty nester.

2002

Currently living in Dallas, Christy Mitchell works for 7-Eleven, where she leads brand marketing, social media and brand partnerships. She and her husband Chris have two children: Beckett (7) and Maya (4). After earning a BA in journalism from the University of Oklahoma, Christy made a 19-year career in advertising and marketing, where she worked for various advertising agencies and ultimately moved to the client-side. She says she is busy balancing work with family life. “I’m so grateful

for the top-tier education I received at BMCHS that set me up for success, and look back fondly on the memories from the class that ‘busted through in 2002!’” Mitchell said.

2003

Steve Kanaly writes that he works for Tailwater Capital and wishing he “was back in High School again.”

2005

Mona Brown says she has two babies that keep her busy, and she has never been happier about it!

2009

Morgan Blackburn is celebrating three years of working at the New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union. Morgan coleads philanthropy strategy as well as works as a National lead for the organization’s Indigenous Justice docket.

2010

Andrew Mlady moved back to OKC in 2023. He started a new job at Mercy Hospital, and he has two young children who will attend Christ the King.

Katie Sieker welcomed her second child in February and is settling into life as a family of four. She writes: “Juggling work, two little ones under two, and my faith is no small feat, but I wouldn’t trade these sweet moments for anything.”

2011

Stephanie (Roy) Ledet and her husband welcomed their third child: Graham Patrick Ledet. He was born February 4th.

Julia Peacock got married in February. Rachel Pyle lives in Dallas with her husband Ian and their oneand-half-year-old twin boys Bennett and Henry.

2012

Kendall Hammack is the Publisher at 405 Magazine in Oklahoma City. She and her husband, Jennings, welcomed a baby girl, Hallie Katherine Hammack, on February 25th.

2013

Kevin Daly writes that his son Michael started PK3 at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Dallas. Kevin and his wife are going into their sixth year owning Uptown Pup, a retail pet supply store in Uptown Dallas. They are also moving from Uptown to Hackberry Creek in Las Colinas, and they are excited for what’s to come.

2014

Jack Merrill recently moved back to OKC after working in Texas. A University of Oklahoma graduate, Jack works at Advanced Flow Solutions and recently got engaged.

2015

After getting out of the Navy where he had been on submarines, Coleman Moody married, and he and his wife now have a daughter. They live in Austin where Coleman works for a defense tech startup doing autonomous surface vessels.

2016

Kyle Fitzgerald and Katherine Cox graduated from OSUCOM May 10. Katherine will attend Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio to become a dermatologist.

Kyle will attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City to become a general surgeon. In all, seven graduates represented BMCHS that day.

2017

Jacob Coniglione ’17 and Camryn Gore-Coniglione ’18 were married in OKC in June 2024. Camryn is a pediatric ICU nurse at OU Children’s Hospital and Jacob is a CPA.

AF Lieutenant Lois Klechka ’21 prepares the T-6 aircraft for flight for AF Captain Helen Homola ’17. Both are stationed at Laughlin AFB, TX.

2018

Owen Condon is an Associate at Stonelake Capital Partners.

Jacob Edwards graduated from Texas A&M and was commissioned into the Texas National Guard in 2023. He got married in July of that year. His wife is currently in her 3rd year of law school at the University of Houston, and Jacob is the Project Manager for a General Contractor in Houston.

Carter Moody works in software sales and engaged to be married in February.

Stith Recognized as 2025 Alumni of the Year

Each year, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School recognizes an alumni who truly exemplifies the values of faith, service, leadership, and community. For 2025, that individual is Danny Stith ’74.

Danny’s journey of faith, family, and service began right here in Oklahoma City. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, graduated from Bishop McGuinness in 1974, and went on to earn a finance degree from Oklahoma State University in 1978. Shortly after, he launched what would become a lifelong vocation — founding Oklahoma Wealth Management Group, where he has spent over 40 years helping others plan for their futures. Today, he continues to lead the company as CEO, specializing in retirement planning, investment advisory, wealth management, and financial planning services.

But Danny’s success in business is only part of the story. He is a man of deep faith, a devoted husband, father, and “Papa,” and a pillar of service in the Catholic community. His life has been defined by giving — of his time, talent, and treasure — to the Church, to Catholic schools, and to countless individuals and organizations across Oklahoma.

He has served in key financial roles for St. Charles School and Church, and for Bishop McGuinness. He’s also served the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City in numerous capacities, including President and Board Chairman of the Catholic Foundation. He is a proud member of the Jim Thorpe Association, supporting excellence in athletics and academics statewide.

Danny even stepped onto the softball field,

volunteering as an assistant coach for the BMCHS softball team for ten years — from 1995 to 2005. And to this day, many of his former players still look to him as a trusted mentor and friend.

Danny is a humble leader, a generous giver, a thoughtful guide, and a man who lives his faith with quiet strength and unwavering conviction.

It is with deep gratitude and great pride that we honor Mr. Danny Stith as the 2025 Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School Alumni of the Year.

As of the writing of this magazine, Archbishop Eusebius Beltran passed away at the age of 91. A Pennsylvania native, Beltran was ordained a priest in 1960 in the Diocese of Atlanta. He served as Bishop of Tulsa from 1978 to 1992. In 1993, he was appointed the Archbishop of Oklahoma City, where he served until 2010. Beltran is remembered for his tireless support of Catholic education.

Planting Seeds for the Future: Growing Our Endowment

Our school has been blessed with a strong financial foundation, thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends who believe in our mission. This support allows us to offer an exceptional education rooted in faith, service, and academic excellence.

While our current financial position is healthy, there is one area where we have the opportunity to grow: our endowment.

An endowment is much like a permanent savings account for the school. The principal is invested, and only the earnings are used—providing a steady, reliable source of income year after year. Endowment income can support teacher salaries, student scholarships, academic programs, facilities, and other priorities—without relying solely on tuition or annual fundraising.

The Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School operating budget is driven by tuition payments and program income. The total revenue includes contributions income. The contribution income supports capital projects and scholarship programs and provides additional resources for extracurricular programs in academics, athletics, and fine arts.

While tuition dollars constitute the majority of the operating budget, the true cost to educate our

students is much higher. Program income, parish tuition assistance, and other sources help to offset the cost of operations.

Contribution income is not used for meeting operating expenses, but instead provides the means necessary to maintain our continued growth and provide our students with additional opportunities as well as individual financial assistance. Capital expenditures included completion of the east wing in 2024-25.

School Store Opens with Irish Inventory

Summer 2025 kicked off with exciting construction at Bishop McGuinness, as the first school store was constructed. The new school store, soon to be named by current students, is situated in the lobby and features spirit wear for students, parents, alumni, grandparents, and children. We hope you will stop by to grab your McGuinness gear!
