From the President Dear Athletic Supporters: Thank you very much for you support and prayers for all of our Irish sports teams. In our 76 year history, athletics has always been an important part of our school in addition to great academics. One of the great things that athletics does is it teaches the young people about working together as a team, which will serve them well in college, career and even family life. The support you give enables our coaches and athletes to have much of what they need to compete and play well.

Msgr. Rick Stansberry President

Another great aspect of athletics is that it can really rally school spirit. For 76 years, the teams have had fans from among the parents, student body, and alumni cheering them on. This can be a great source of building community and school spirit. I pray that all of our athletes have great seasons and that they play well, always remembering the ultimate victory is in heaven. May God bless all of our coaches, athletes, fans and staff as we begin another great year of Irish athletics. God bless Msgr. Rick

A Prayer for Athletes God grant u s the grace to pla y to the best of our ability and in a spirit o f healthy competition . Watch ove r us, keep us sa fe and help us to always rem ember the u ltimate victory is ov er the cross for everlasting life. We ask this through Ch rist our Lord . Amen.

From the Principal Column inches in newspapers covering high schools are often more concerned with athletics than academics. It is certainly true that since joining the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association in 1968, a great deal has been written about athletic success at Bishop McGuinness. From 1968 to the present, the school has won 110 state championships in every sport except for softball and wrestling, most recently boys’ soccer in the spring of 2026. Our athletic heritage, the commitment of the coaches, and the hard work of the athletes are all cornerstones of the history of the school. We are exceptionally proud of our athletic achievements over the years, and these tremendous accomplishments are built on the foundation of faith, family, and academics.

Dr. Andrew Worthington Principal

Over the summer the Advanced Placement scores were released, and I am proud to once again announce record results for AP students in this testing cycle. In 2026, 379 Bishop McGuinness students took 772 Advanced Placement exams in 27 subjects, with 88% of students earning a passing score of 3 or higher. 177 McGuinness students were named AP Scholars, the largest number of McGuinness students to ever receive the honor. We are blessed to have a committed and dedicated faculty that teaches our students. Success, as seen in the statistics above, is a great achievement; these statistics also represent the rigorous academics across the curriculum and throughout the grade levels that support such success. The AP teachers at the school deserve praise, as do all the teachers in the building that continue to set the academic bar high. Statistics such as the Advanced Placement scores, ACT scores, and National Merit Scholars, or recognitions such as being designated a CAPE National Blue Ribbon school, demonstrate our standards and expectations. The prime goal of our school however is to provide a Catholic college preparatory education rooted in the truth of Jesus Christ. The school’s mission statement asks our students to be “a person for others.” This requires them to answer a difficult question. What are you willing to do without asking for anything in return? Our students rise to that question with their actions, in the classroom, in athletics, in the community, and walking the halls of Bishop McGuinness. In service to others every day students meet the call to be “a person for others.” I look forward to seeing you at all our activities, from athletic competition, to our fine arts programs, and campus ministry events. You will see our students flourish and thrive in the Christ-centered education that Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School offers. Go Irish! Yours in Christ, Andrew Worthington

From the Athletic Staff Dear Irish Faithful, Welcome to Clement Pribil Stadium and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. On behalf of the coaches, studentathletes, and my fellow faculty and staff, thank you for your support of Irish Athletics. Our coaches are proud of our tradition of excellence and their roles in our noble mission to form “people for others”. We have been loyal members of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association since 1968 and lucky enough to bring home 118 state championships! Please support our mission and our membership by cheering positively for the Irish rather than against our guests. Mr. Steve McCarthy Athletic Director

Remember these sportsmanship guidelines courtesy of the National Federation of High School Sports: 1. Show respect for self and others at all times. 2. Show respect for the officials. Good sportsmanship implies the willingness to accept and abide by the decisions of the officials. 3. Know, understand and appreciate the rules of the contest. Good sportsmanship suggests the importance of conforming to the spirit as well as the letter of the rules. 4. Maintain self-control at all times. Prevent the desire to win from overcoming rational behavior. 5. Recognize and appreciate skill in performance regardless of team affiliation. Go Fighting Irish! Steve McCarthy Athletic Director
