Four points within a solid form, symbolizing wholeness, universality, strength, and Community with an arms extending and reaching out from each point, containing a series of more public and private spaces. Quad serves the community of Hollywood Beach through a group of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, that can be used as a storm shelter when needed. Passive design strategies such as natural ventilation, openable walls and shaded outdoors, as well as various shading devices for thermal control will be implemented.

Resiliency is explored through the use of Concrete masonry, which is flexible, resilient and durable. Perforated CMU Block walls are located around the ,main mass to define different outdoor gathering spaces. The perforated walls are extended from the the East to the West side of the site, connecting the boardwalk side to the highway side in a continuous way. The CMU Block walls are furthered used in the foundation of the main mass, as a perimeter wall foundation, raising the structure 5’ above the ground to combat flooding. CMU Block columns further raise the main gathering space 25’ above the ground allowing for a safe elevated space for the gathering of the community
